At the end of the day this color unlocking system is bullshit, and whats even worse is that if some day they release all the colors for FM purchase or cheap Zenny purchase or something like that it’s just going to piss off all the people who tortured themselves in Survival Hard.
My quick fix would be if you have enough spendable survival points you can buy either an extra life between matches or purchase a “continue” from a “milestone” level post loss. (Like if you die at level 49 you can spend points to continue from level 40). It would keep survival challenging without making players feel like they wasted an hour of their life after a level 49 death.
Well this mod works, no clue if you can get banned for it because I never got banned for the trainer. But at least with the trainer you did all the matches, this is just 1 match.
While it could be considered a “ban-able offense”, seeing as how the concept of the internet is clearly a new and foreign concept to Capcom, I doubt they’d be able to do anything about it. They can’t even get together a proper anti-RQ system in 2016 so I somehow doubt they have the internet-competence to find people using this. If I had the PC version I’d seriously consider it.
When I was reading the thread I thought it meant we gained 20k FM after grinding to level 50 and not we get the luxury of paying 20k FM for a colour by grinding a thousand matches to unlock it lol.
Well, i did it once again as Cammy on hard mode. I wanted the colors for her default + story costume.
Few tips for Cammy players that want to unlock all colors
In the first 15 matches don’t be afraid to jump in and go for max damage combo
Try and finish the round with a ex move, it gives more points ( that you can use to buy stuff at later levels )
vs Ken just crouch and sweep him when he comes close, don’t dp because he sometimes blocks it and then he shoryus back
once u pass lvl 15 , spam heavy DP. I mean it, spam that thing, they block it often but most of the time they do not punish. The chip damage adds up and they eventually get hit
don’t jump on Dhalsim
avoid using EX dp if it does not kill, for some reason they punish this more often if they block it
vs Ryu, Nash and Dhalsim you can usually start round with heavy DP. Ryu and Nash start with a fireball or by walking into you, Dhalsim starts round by either jumping or cr hk, your heavy DP catches both.
rush down old man Bison, he rarely anti airs and you don’t really don’t want this bastard to start his combos on you.
Try and go into lvl 35+ rounds with at least 70% health and always have a defensive supplement active
once again, 70% of the time if not more, you need to spam heavy dp
The thing is they made the Survival mode the way it is (insert any negative adjective here. First ones to come to mind are tedious, long, hard, stupid, time-consuming), because they didn’t want people to earn FM easily, yet next to no one cares about the FM at this point (where you get enough money to buy the first two DLC characters and maybe some alts) and everyone plays this abomination of a mode for the character colors. Oh, the tragedy…
I just want them to give fight money and exp for subsequent playthroughs. Unlocking the extra colors for these story mode alts since the shop opened is underwhelming especially considering the AI shenanigans. Im fine with only having 1-6 then all my dlc alts for every character. Special nod to tht black and red karin in the shop tht resembles rachel alucard
In my oppinion the way to make Survival decent is to reduce the ammount of rounds dramatically, and increase the AI from the start. As it is, you have to play 15 rounds agains braindead AI anyway. It’s just a boring grind. And then the AI starts ramping up slowly. They’'e doing this just so people can’t unlock the colors and need to buy them. I think the hardest mode should be 30 rounds. That’s a lot already considering you can’t lose a single round. And it still takes around 20-30 minutes to beat. Just make the AI harder. That will make the mode abut skill, not about grinding endlessly. It will be way more fun to go through.
This mode really should be fixed. It’s beyond broken as is.
I have to disagree. The way the AI is implemented in this game is pure horseshit no matter what difficulty it’s operating on. I’ve seen characters in normal difficulty randomly go insane with combos that I don’t think a human would be capable of performing, and I’ve also seen AI characters at the end of the hard difficulty being beat by simply spamming full screen Dhalsim fireballs and nothing else.
You know, I vaguely remember something John Carmack said back when he was working on Quake 3 – basically (if I remember this correctly), he said that creating an AI that can kick your ass takes little to no effort, but creating an AI that actually behaves like a real-life human being is damn hard. From what I’ve experienced, Capcom took the easy way out in SFV.
