With the ArcEye v2 running to a Sparky PWM, the only pin headers needed are for the RGB and common leg connectors, right? Because aside from the FTDI and Dual Strike areas, these are the only places on the board that have correct pitch header holes.
Correct
Are the RGB wires running from the ArcEye daisy chained? If not, then how are you getting up to 8 individual wires to occupy a single header pin?
they are daisy chained
that’s what the smaller cables are for
here are your options
ArcEye 2.0 Daisy Chained Cable from @purplearms

8 into 1 (strip 8 wires, twist and tin them together)

home brew daisy chain for ArcEye 1.0

home brew zoom out annotation

Ah, splendid. I was hoping you could daisy chain the ArcEye v1 pcb’s.
What is the product name of the header pin plugs? I’ve already got a load of the header pins themselves (male) but not too sure what goes onto them (female)…
Daisy chaining v1’s is a bit more work because there is only one set of RGB via holes, and they’re not quite large enough for pin headers (32teeth used swiss headers and dremeled his buttons… far beyond what i would be personally willing to do)…
the headers are just standard generic 2.54mm (0.1") male square pin headers and female headers… no product name or anything…
I used (Swiss) Machine pin headers.

you will need to dremmel your switch as well

and dremmel your button case as well
**** note, i am using special button plunger inserts (from @purplearms) which are transparent, you will need to dremmel the other sides if you are not, which i DO NOT recommend as this is the switches clip side, just drill holse****

purplearms & 32teeth - thanks for all that info. I think I’ve found what I need now, so will just play around with some ideas I have in my head of wiring.
Uh, yeah! One of the aims of your project is to eliminate soldering, right?? I was under the impression that this would be PnP.
YESSSS THANKS
Yeah nevermind that warning. 32teeth changed his mind =D
So does that mean when we have our cables, and our arc-eyes v2’s does that mean we have to clip the end of one harnesses to hook up to the screw terminals?
32teeth decided he’ll offer headers… so once he updates his store with that option, it’ll be plug and play…
Whether sparky has headers or screw terminals it will not need solder. It would only take a few minutes to cut and strip the wires if there are screw terminals. If this little bit if work makes anyone consider it not to be ‘plug n play’… I’ve got no words.

well, you will still have to drill the buttons
Eh, the buttons need to be drilled no matter what, so there’s always going to be some work you have to put in. After all, the buttons weren’t designed to have lights in them per se. But I think more people are willing to pick up a drill than a soldering iron, Even so, this is still as close as you’re going to get to a PNP solution, so possibly having to cut and strip some wires shouldn’t be seen as a negative or a turnoff.
“A turn off”??? man i know this stuff is very very sexy but jeez calm down a little…hahahhaa
Hee hee. I think Spenz is talking from experience. He was one of the first trial Sparky Jr cats out there, back when we where figuring things out in terms of difficulty. And this was the old solder everything yourself board.
32teeth is going to offer an option for headers so cutting and stripping will not be required if you have teasy =D
