I plan to disappear until 1 month before the port is released, then hit up Nicovideo and watch every vid I can find. I’ve realized I don’t actually know anything about AH3 'cause I haven’t been following the vids (I just kind of assumed AH3 would never be ported properly) .
Probably gonna follow the SBO quals loosely. Mainly to see how many AHF players that I recognize manage to qualify.
I may or may not have any local comp (dedicated players) when this comes out, so even though I don’t like playing FGs online with latency, good netplay will be a godsend in this case. I expect certain east coast and midwest players will be available for massnetplay?
Herb, if you’re importing the game, can you let me know and possibly import a copy for me as well? … Although, it might be better to wait until the port is out before buying it. The people working on this port might not necessarily be the same guys who work on the BlazBlue ports, or they might have a harder time porting it since it’s not their game, etc. You never know with Examu. :nono:
im fine with dlc chars, but charging for rebalancing patch that would be kinda upseting, yet knowing me i know that i will buy them in the end
on another note, if examu only decided to port Daemon Bride, it seems that is one of that games that i will never play
the 1st port of GGAC had various bugs, some of them making the game freeze, thats why they made GGAC+ and the GGAC append disc to correct the problems
BF and BBCT dont support custom music on the ps3, dunno on the 360 or if BBCS will support it on ps3
the only reason why i dont really play AH anymore is because im pretty sure that im the only ah player in Honduras , so im tired to boot the game only for practicing combos
now with netplay im pretty sure that i will give it more play
now i dont know how i would manage my time between BBCS, GGAC, HNK with the upcoming games like KOFXIII, AH3 and Chaos Breaker too much good games, and so little time to play them:sweat:
Yeah, I’m debating whether or not I’m going to pre-order it right away or wait to see feedback on it. The way I see it, it’s a on a next-gen console, and I don’t see any of the problems happening with this port like PS2-AH2.
I can import a copy for you, but you’d have to come pick it up, if that’s cool. We can play that same day. =D Don’t worry, I’m in the same boat as you for AH3. The next-gen port has come as a welcome surprise.
Sabin - I don’t even consider myself an AHF console OG…but best believe that I’ll be playing, providing the port is good.
I know I know, ASW is making it this time around not Ecole blah blah blah…after the last port and being forced to quit Arcana (lol) I will retain a small spec of skepticism until I’m (gladly) proven wrong
Just who I mained along with Saki. Though the fact I didn’t have human comp nearby at the time made me just mess with Lilica on the side and just play Saki.
I dunno… I’m sure ASW isn’t going to want to tarnish “their” brand name with a garbage port like AH2 was. It’s not like AH3 can hit the shelves without going through ASW first. Arc System Works just has too much going for them to ruin their image.
This is what Ecole had going for themselves before they ported AH2 and Melty Ecole Software - Company Profile . So I’m not suprised the port was trash.
I got Arcana Heart on ps2 day 1 and still play it!
And online for AH3 will really boost the Arcana Heart community by 1000%!
See this is a fine example how important online is to fighting games, without it, competition and community are extremely limited and segregated. It’s great timing and decisions to have the results being Arc Systems porting it and giving it quality online play! (it’s also great timing because AH3 is the best out of the 3 games and combines everyone that appeared in AH1 and 2, plus more!)
If it was Sega then…that would have been worse than what happened to Bleach games. And if it was Konami, Tecmo, or Koei, the online wouldn’t be great either.
It has to be a company that’s experienced porting and developing great online play for 2-D fighting games! And Arc Systems Works is the best one to port it!
I’m sure players who import AH3 for PS3 will be able to access online regardless if they use a USA region console (unless the servers are isolated? I heard some Japanese-only PS3 games are like that.)
Hopefully the online will actually increase the serious base of players and not just be an inflation of online players that never get out and go to tournies. I’m just saying this because of the turnout for MBAC tournies didn’t get much help (even decrease?) from netplay. Granted, by the time online existed MBAC was on the decline. AH3 will have online right off the gate and a more tourney friendly setup.
I also believe this. Netplay is necessary today for a small game to gain popularity. Without good netplay, many will have no one or few to play, and that’s what make people lose interest imo.
I ain’t gonna pretend - if AH3 doesn’t have good netplay my interest will not be long-lived. I’ll play through arcade mode a few times, try to get someone to play a bit with me (and of course no one will like it enough to import it and practice)… And that will be it.
I wasn’t there from the very beginning (I missed when Arcana Heart 1 dropped, my friend introduced it to me) but I can still feel the scars that EXAMU left with that last sorry excuse of a port they did for us last year, and I can understand the scepticism going around (I’ve still got some meself - it IS EXAMU, after all >.<). Just gotta wait for some (hopefully good) news to calm us right back down…
It does seem that, for quite a few, solid online will be a deal-breaker here… For me, I’m ok, since I know quite a few people to play offline with, but I know that if the online was anywhere near good, then I would be on it for hours on end - just being able to play different players besides your mates is already an improvement in your experiences. I was like that with Blazblue and SFIV (not so much Super), and I’ll be on even more if AH3 gets good netplay. I’m sure it’s a similar situation for a few people here…
(Assuming that we get good netcode for the game) I say we get some SRK lobbies together once this drops and play the s*** out of it. Maybe record/stream some stuff (I so hope they have replay-saving like BlazBlue) and promote the hell out of the game to encourage a bigger online and offline scene…
A good game deserves some recognition methinks, let’s just hope ASW does the arcade version justice with their port… o_o;;;
Not to further antagonize people that are seemingly already irritable (especially since I understand Saotome being annoyed about having to moderate things already), but I find this “wonder how many of you are going to be around months from now” and the like grand-standing to be rather unnecessary and counter to trying to build a scene when most of the people that have viewed this thread have never even had a chance to touch this game. Even it’s done in jest, it’s rather difficult to perceive that over the Internet even if you know the person “IRL”.
Similarly, it should be fairly obviously just because this thread has so many views already (even counting out the obvious repeat views from people that posted multiple times, such as myself), there’s never going to be a one-to-one conversation ratio for “serious players” to help develop the scene. It’s never been that way with any game and it never will be. Some people will always be causal players looking to play this with their friends or even just alone, especially if it has an online feature. Some people are just initially curious and don’t go beyond that, not even buying or playing the game. Some people will drop; it’s inevitable, especially with all unnecessary hostility that’s going around already.
I mean, I can understand the bitterness that some of you have for being screwed over completely by the last Arcana Heart port, but you honestly think this taunting is going to gain you support? (This is not to say that everyone that got screwed by EXAMU is acting hostile; that isn’t the case, obviously.)
Can’t we just get along (read: not hate each other) and focus on how awesome it is there is a playable, well-balanced game where you play as a demonic nun or a maid with huge-ass sword? Why are people trying to turn this into a pissing contest already?
The Damned: Noone is hostile at anyone except for Examu. furthermore I havent called out anyone in this thread directly, theres no reason for me to. If anything, what I posted gave me some good responses about people who are willing to step their shit up which is what I wanna see. The skeptism comes from Examu taking a dump on players/community at least 3-4 times in the past 4 years. That is of course unless youre in Japan/not a arcade operator…in which case it’s all good That being said I’m hoping for the best here but I’m expecting the worst.
Cliff notes version: Arcana series (vanilla Arcana Heart) was as high as #2 on the Arcadia rankings until Examu got all hollywood and fucked shit up by being greedy. It hasn’t regained the steam it has since then AFAIK.
Basically you probably wont understand this position if youre new and havent played the series from it’s inception (vanilla part 1 before AHF). Or had a Ex-board randomly die on you (multiple times) due to examu’s board being a piece of shit. People have some idea of how shitty it got due to the crap PS2 port but really thats not the whole story here.
I always keep thinking in the back of my head I wanna support this game but then I’m worried that Examu will pull some bullshit like AH4 right after AH3 drops or something or a AH3 arcade only upgrade after everyone gets hooked. It’s been done like 29022903 times before by this company lol.
end rant
To keep shit on a positive note, I was actually watching some AH3 matches for the first time today (ive watched them before but i never tried to break down what was going on) and wtf, shit is all accent core up in this bitch now. People die too fast!
Tough love. Maybe it’s a reflection of the times, but I(and I’m sure Arturo, HeartNana and all the older guys will agree) believe that it’s one thing to gush over an announcement, and a completely different matter to be there when it counts. Unfortunately the only way for that to work is for the console version to drop, because I doubt anyone is gonna drop 1500 on another EX-Board + AH3 this late in the game. Forgive us for being bitter, but we’ve seen it time and time again, with each iteration of the game.
Once again tough love. If some words from the “OGs of the AH community” discourages new players now, then I wonder what will happen when the REAL asshole remarks come in…(before I delete them, of course)
You’re misplacing our feelings here. Most of the bitterness is based on the time the game was in the arcade for AH/F and SAH2, as well as the time AHF was on console and at tournaments. There was ONE tourney with a great turnout. Then EVERYONE ELSE DISAPPEARED. We do not want this to happen again. We were nice, we gave compliments, we gave advice, and we got abandoned. Not to say we won’t give out info now, but we do not want our efforts to go to waste. You don’t know how much of a disappointment it was giving so much info direct from Japan when all 3 of us were there, with 2 of us returning to the states for tourneys, for the community that we tried to make end up giving up.
I think some people are making the comments out to be more than they are. We’ll see when the port drops, until then enjoy what info we have to bring to you guys.
As for everyone else, if there are any further issues on this topic, bring it to myself, Sabin or HeartNana and we’ll talk it out.
