OK so I want to keep this thread going because it’s one of my favorites. How about a noob question? When striping wires what is your best method? Exacto knife, Basic wire stripers, the ones that remove the wire for you, or maybe even your fingernails. I’m just wondering if there are any tricks out there I haven’t thought of.
wire strippers… thats my only method…
I personally like to use my teeth… and then I can quickly twist the wire with my lips… it’s pretty efficient.
The women must love u. U got skills.
I use a Klein brand Wire Stripper.
Which cost me $30.
None of my tools are cheap.
Not even for basic stuff like cutting.
My Wire Cutter are $25, my Flush Cutter is $40.
Automatic Strippers, then ones that remove the insulation for you.
Those are not good if you do not get high priced ones.
Low price ones just pull the insulation.
Instead of actually cut and pull.
If they do cut and pull, they do not make clean cut.
Some even cut too much and remove few conductors.
I do use a precision cutting blade though.
For when I want to remove insulation between.
Is what I do when I wire up the SOCD 7400 Chips and Trigger Hack with Hex Inverter.

Not good example, because there were only two cuts for SOCD.
With the Hex Inverter, there are four cuts, because connect five pins.
You prefer combo stripper/crimper or separate?
My Posts in both these Threads, you are to read.

Thanks JDM that what I was looking for. I knew you had some tech to share. I’ll be sure to check out those other threads also. Now about that SOCD cleaner you made without a board. This isn’t the right thread for this but somehow please educate me on how I can do that. Thats impressive.
Thanks again JDM. u da man.
Do you guys ever use molex connectors?
i was going to use them in one of my modular builds
but that’s super secret
Copy. Hush hush. I’m moving that direction for my experimental project controller.
Disconnect or Modular Solutions?
Fuck those.
I, personally, is permanents.
Molex?
No.
Other brands?
Yes.
I have to make use of my $800 AMP Crimper right?
For wire stripping/cutting/crimping, I recommend this automatic wire stripper. It is a $20 godsend. If you have a lot of wiring to do, but don’t want to waste the cash, use this. It’s worth every dollar.
For small quantities of Techflex sleeving or heatsrhink tubing, I would highly recommend performance-pcs.com. Very fairly priced. I will warn that your order comes in one piece. So if you order 5ft, you get one 5ft piece. You’ll need to use a hot knife in order to cut it, but I just used scissors/stovetop.

While I’m here. I want to ask some people for their opinions. Here’s a stick I’m currently working on. I’m just waiting for a PS360+ in order to complete it.

What I want to ask is, do you think it would look alright if I put some white heatshrink tubing around the wires between the buttons? I ask this because you know how you think an idea sounds good in your head but when you do it, it ends up looking tacky? Yeah. Just want to avoid that.
I probably wouldn’t to be honest.
What I would do is reduce the tension the daisy chains have in between the buttons.
It looks a lot like my intro-sticks and the wiring i had for my first sticks
it looks good just like that!
I like the way project giant sword does their daisy chain, but it looks very complicated and hard to imitate.
Thank you guys for your thoughts. I will leave it as so.
Oh! I don’t know if this has been answered before, but how do you guys get the wires so clean and glued together like in some of your works? Is there a certain kind of… hot glue or something that is used to seal them together? What’s the procedure for something like that?
super glue, planning, patience, and BEER…
