So for the best results, Just run the lead wires through a flextech and then either put the grounds in a seperate tube or daisy chain them?
I use one ground wire per buttonā¦looks cleaner that way but it is a bit more workā¦usually average 11 ground wire not counting if i have to include ledāsā¦
As for how to run itā¦farthest first then I measure and fish the other lines through the tech flex to make it look good⦠I dont crimp cause I like the look of the qdās the way I do itā¦
Also, where do you usually purchase your wire from?
What about using a terminal block for ground, that way for PCBās that only have one or two ground points, you donāt have to run 11 ground wires from the same point?
Look at the Chun-Li of Kuya_Joe he posted above.
For PCB like the Paewang, I do a secretness.

Each Wire Sleeve has only one Ground Wire.
But how do I make each go to more than one place?
Haha now you are just teasing us newbies⦠or you are quizzing us?
Yeah someone needs to make a video tutorial on how to do wire management with a techflex tube
Honestly I would but Iām usually drinking when I do that so it wouldnt make much sense to the sober haha⦠depending on the set up I use the terminal strip already in the stick but on custom sticks I dont use teriminal blocks⦠I never liked the way they looked⦠not saying they shouldnt be used but personally I dont use themā¦
Well man whenever you mod another stick you should make a video on how to wire management.
lemonlust, I would like it if you replied to my message of your Private Message to me.
I listened to your music.
i got bored so i followed you on soundcloud
also i hope to get one stick done, and unlike joe, i mod sober so i will try and shoot some pics
Do you make music too? And can someone please make a video on how to set up a common ground on like a Madcatz TE or something. I might go buy some techflex tubing
I followed you as well
nah donāt make, just enjoy listening to~
common ground?
common ground just means every button can use the same ground point and it would still function as a button.
that same ground point must be the same going out of the usb too.
A madcatz stick is already common ground, just has multiple wires linking to the same ground point
you could daisy chain all the grounds together if you had wanted to, MCZ just made it easier to tell which wire went where with that terminal block
if you want to have only 1 ground wire, youāre going to have to make a new wire leading from the terminal block and daisy chain that one ground towards the other buttons
This is a bit offhand but I figured it was better than making a new thread. What do you guys do with those stubborn QDs that just wonāt take solder? Iām still really new to modding so I have a tendency to crimp too tight and break the cable, solder never seems to stick so I just end up replacing themā¦
I know the correct answer is to just crimp more carefully but I think it would be good to know anyway in case I ever want to get a bit more fancy with my wiring.
did you try some flux?
or did you try tinning the wire + applying some solder to the QD beforehand?
flux makes anything take solder. ANYTHING.
This thread is awesome. How about some tips on organizing the Sparky jr wires. I have been spending hours on them. And the solid wires protruding from the buttons? What are those and how do you do that? Thank you guys for these tips. Much appreciated.
RGB wires are a little tricky⦠theres two ways to go around this⦠first off I would say that pre-measureing the wires is key⦠the less slack the better it looks all around⦠because there are so many wires if you lay the set and pre-plan how it will look going to the buttons you already won half the battle⦠even simple zip ties every inch up to the button will make this a clean looking mod⦠kind of like how eightarc and quanba run their wire to the buttons if you have ever seen the inside of their casesā¦
another method is to use 1/2 inch techflex to run the wires⦠now this is a little tricky⦠I fish my wires through the tech flex one at a time to get my look in mods⦠with the three RGBās per button you have to fish all THREE at once so your splitting the 3wire bundle at the end about 3 inches to get the wires to come out of the flex the correct way⦠this takes a lot of time and I dont suggest it unless you have A LOT of patience⦠Im usually cursing and drinking heavily around my second button pull⦠its a pain in the ass⦠but the look is CLEAN⦠Iāll post up pictures next time I do this⦠I had them on my old phone and the images didnt transfer for some reason when I recieved my new phoneā¦
for most I reccomend just pre-measuring and pre-planning the layout before you mod and using zip ties at every INCH up to the button to make this look clean⦠Mr. Mort likes split loom wire cover⦠looks good but I still feel the pre-measure is key⦠with RGBās I dont use superglue⦠it makes the wires way to ridged and you have to do a lot of work to just get the wires to look clean⦠its not really needed anyways since the RGB wires usually come in ribbon formā¦
Ive got a clean rgb sparky install somewhere⦠Let me post it when i get home
