Just bought a brand new Qanba Drone as my first fight stick. For some reason my playstion 4 keeps disconnecting the stick! Is it the usb ports on the PS4 or is it the stick!? I can normally play for 10 minutes without a problem and then I get a “controller disconnected” message. Any help will be awesome!
Why pcb is in the stick?
Usually when a disconnect happens every 10 minutes, it’s an authorization timeout. Something you might come across if it was modded with an aftermarket pcb. I’m not familiar with the qanba drone, but is there a switch that says “ps3/ps4”? I’d make sure the ps4 side is selected (that is, if there is one). It’s weird because from what I understand, it’s an officially licensed PlayStation stick.
Hopefully someone here with a qanba drone could chime in with some experience.
I really appreciate the feedback! Most of the time it disconnects after 10 minutes but every now and then it will disconnect after like 3 minutes… it’s just weird. I also have Ps4 selected. I understand that the pcb is in the stick but I’m wondering if the stick is the problem or my ps4?
If you’ve got a friend who has an arcade stick of a different brand, have them bring it over and plug it in. That will rule out the USB ports if it works fine, and if it doesn’t, I’d contact Sony.
If it works fine, then it’s either the PCB itself or the USB cable. IIRC the Drone is a licensed product so it shouldn’t suffer from authentication issues. If you bought it brand new from a retailer, I’d contact the retailer and have it replaced in that case. If you bought it used and the warranty’s gone, I’d just crack it open and check for frays in the USB cable or a loose wire from the cable to the stick. It could be something as simple as the wiring harness that connects the USB to the PCB coming slightly loose.
Thank you for your Reply! So far my plan is to just send it off for a replacement. If the replacement does the same as this one then I can assume it’s my ps4s usb ports. All of my friends have regular dual shock 4s haha so no luck there. Have you ever heard of using an ac powered usb hub if the PlayStation isn’t producing enough power through the usb ports? That would be my next step if the replacement has the same problems.
Are you playingon a hub?
Are you using one of the slims? You should probably use one to be safe.
Alternatively, you could plug it into your PC and see if it has disconnect issues.
Nah I’m not playing on a hub, my fight stick is connected directly to the Ps4.
No, I have the original Ps4. It’s just weird man, Idk haha
For me that brings it back to either the cable, the PCB, or the PS4. If you have a PC to plug it into, plug it in there. Try using with FightCade or an emulator or something, if it disconnects there, it’s the stick. If not, PS4.

Thanks man! I don’t use a Pc for gaming but what I’m going to do is go to a friends house and try it on their PlayStation. Hopefully the problem will be resolved soon but if not I will just replace the arcade stick. I really appreciate the help!
Just connected the stick to my PS3 and had no problems at all, so it has to be something with my PS4 ports!
