Arcade Naomi Questions EXPERTS PLEASE HELP!

I have two Naomi arcade systems. One Naomi system is a European Version of CVS2. The other system is a USA Marvel VS Capcom 2. When I first got the Euro CVS2 it didn’t work. I looked under the hood and saw that it was a GD rom. The reason why it wasn’t working was because the disc was not properly in place. When I put the disc in place it worked fine. I assumed that the disc got loose during shipping and handling.

Well about I think it was 4 months ago my Marvel VS Capcom 2 went out. I thought there was something wrong with the power supply. So I got a new power supply put it on, nothing happened. When I opened the Naomi I found out that it was not a GD rom like CVS2 but a JAMMA CART!!! I thought I was just gonna exchange the disc on my CVS2 Naomi with my MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 but I was wrong! Oh crap!

Now I realize that that the CVS2 Naomi and the MVC2 Naomi are TWO DIFFERENT SYSTEMS, does that mean my MVC2 is impossible to fix? Is there a suicide battery in the NAOMI Marvel VS Capcom 2 also? Is my system as good as dead? Is there anyway that I could fix it still? Or is it too late. Please help! Thanks.

There is no suicide battery in the Naomi 1/2 system, Sega in the recent years did not pull a Capcom lol. For the CVS2 as far as I know, in the DIMM board, there is a battery that you need to replace. Try that first. Not sure about the MVC2 board. Take this question to the www.sega-naomi.com forums, they know their stuff over there.

They aren’t two different models, the Naomi can accept either Naomi carts or Naomi GD-ROMs (if you have the DIMM Board and GD-ROM drive that is).

MvC2 is one of the first gen Naomi games, and back then they used carts before moving onto GD-Roms.

Again, they’re NOT two different systems as you call it, and the Naomi does not have the suicide battery a la Capcom’s CPS2 and CPS3.

Of course if you have a Naomi2 as your other Naomi board, then wait eh not really, Naomi2 is backwards compatible to Naomi so it still wouldn’t matter.
