Arcade Edition v2013?

If they update AE, hopefully they don’t change the balance unless it’s really warranted. New stages would be cool but is it really necessary?

Yeah new stages with epic music would bring life back to the game, plus more lines for the announcer. Andadding a little bit that was said above, then boom you have a perfect game worth calling sf4.

Oh yeah, another thing: after a local versus match, if I picked “Random” for the character(s), please random-select a new character! If I really wanted to use that character I was randomly assigned again, I would just pick that character again. I hate having to go all the way back out to the character select screen to pick “Random” for my character selection again. I understand if hardware limitations prevent the game from immediately restarting with a new character; that’s fine. Just throw to the loading screen again–I won’t be mad, I promise. I’d really like if it did this for the random stage select, too. Maybe put something in the Options menu like “Shuffle ‘Random’ character select after each match? [Off] [1P only] [2P only] [1P and 2P]” and “Shuffle ‘Random’ stage after each match? [Off] [On].” That way, people who don’t want to be thrown to the load screen wouldn’t have to deal with it, but it would save people who just want to play randoms the trouble of having to return to the character select screen after each match.

I’d really like if the game showed the input for the Ultras (preferably before you picked them). If nothing else, it’d be nice to see them on the pre-match loading screen (particularly for the aforementioned “Random” character select). They did it in 3S rather unobtrusively, which was nice for casuals and experimenting with new characters. Sure, in local play, you can just pause and go to the Command List (still inconvenient), but no such option exists online.

Speaking of which, Online Training would be the absolute best thing ever. My friends and I might work on stuff for an hour or more in Training before we actually start matches on the rare occasion we can play locally. It’d be amazing if we could actually do Training online rather than just doing “3 out of 5, 99 seconds” in Endless about seventy dozen times. Never again.

Other than that, Survival Mode, Time Attack, and Local Tournament Mode would all be nice additions. I don’t know whether the issue is with the hardware limitations, the method of controller input, or the way the PS3 outputs to display, but it would be cool if the PS3 were actually standardized with the arcade and 360 so the timings weren’t all wonky and varied from one tournament to the next. All of those would be great to have, with the latter being, as far as I’m concerned, practically essential.

So… yeah. In addition to the stuff from my last post, that’s all I’d really care to see if 2013 were actually made. I’m sure someone a lot better at SF4 than me probably has a laundry list of damage tweaks and frame adjustments that would balance the game, but I honestly don’t really care about those. I’m perfectly content with the version of the game we have, and my friends and I will probably be playing it until SF5 and probably beyond.

Dead or alive 5 is having online training mode, I’m pretty sure after that, training online mode is gonna become a fighting game must have standard.

New stages but PLEASE rematch button on ranked matches. Getting into a new match takes FOREVER. Why?

i dont think ppl are tired of it…thats so far from the truth, the community is just geting biger and biger and i see and hear new players joinng the community everyday

The lack of a rematch button in Ranked is likely a measure to prevent boosting. Though it’s obscenely easy to do anyway so eh.

I just hope the v.2013 (or whenever they decide to update the game) doesn’t heavily tweak or patch the game, gameplay wise. Maybe minor changes here and there to help out some match ups, so far this version is pretty good. (MAYBE they will decide to change Cammy EX Cannon Strike. If so, the best way (imo) is to make it so that is that EX CS forward jump only. At least make it hard to be “cheap”. )

What this game REALLY needs, is EVERYTHING other than the gameplay. They need more options. Options for menus, better options for training mode, better options for multiplayer, options for announcers, stage music, character music, ect, ect, ect. Its the very small things that count. Fighting games keep coming out and every time, they have better, faster, and more friendly… everything, really. You can always release more DLC which I’m sure people will GLADLY throw money at you for, things like stages, music, costumes, characters, etc. SSF4 right now is probably the most popular game in the world right now, it would be a good idea to enhance the the game and interact better with the community instead of letting it feed itself with what you gave them LOOOOONG time ago.

There’s also a ton of things that can be learned from a couple of non-fighting games. A big one being LoL. I know Capcom saw that and tried it with SFxT with that whole character and gems bullshit. But what I mean are things like in-game streams where if there’s a tournament going on, that stream will appear on the main menu of the game itself. Not only will interest and views go up for the FGC streams, many people (especially new ones) will be able to see how you are supposed to play thanks to commentators and gameplay. OR/AND You can just teach the player how to do everything, Option Selects, Buffering, Canceling, and how to play a character, all from the training menu and not forcing people to look these things up themselves. Or for the more casual player, you can also make lobbies in ranked where only people with a certain PP range can join, where all the noobs are only allowed join one lobby, intermediates on a different lobby, and high level players on another. I’m sure that will get rid of ALOT of things newer players have trouble with or high level players for that matter.

Do what you have to but DO NOT STOP interacting with the community. I mean, look at Team Fortress 2. They always keep updating and adding things to it and its community only keeps growing very quickly, keeping it fun and very interesting for everyone from hardcore players to casual / newplayers. coughandthengetyouaddictedtohatscough Honestly, our community is growing as well… but its more because of the community itself and not so much the developer. We need more interaction. Not new games. I mean, sure they might increase the community. But most of those new people never try to get good at SSF4 because its too hard or they don’t know how to play, or don’t know where to look.

Sadly, because of our community and games like Third Strike, Capcom knows for DAMN sure that people will stick the game for years without having to touch it, so this rant and v.2013 will most likely not happen. Ever.

Yeah we definitely need new background music. It would make the game so much better. And yes, charge money for that…
Only thing to learn from LoL is how to make money with shit (and Capcom is already pretty good with that)
“Sadly” the FG community doesn’t need new bullcrap every week but is content with playing good games for 10 years even(/especially) when they are left in peace

Man, your post was one big load of braincancer. Go back to CoD, there are some achievements left to unlock.

Thanks to people like you, the FGC never grows any faster. We wont go anywhere with that mentality. Not saying the games are bad at all, I’m saying it can still be improved. By ALOT. The FGC has always been satisfied with JUST the gameplay, but honestly we should be expecting more from them. Whats wrong with making the FGC more accessible? I mean, there’s still SHIT TON of ways to further enhance the COMPETITION, KNOWLEDGE, and the MULTIPLAYER aspect of the game. That’s what the FGC is all about, isn’t it? It’s not perfect by any means, and still very fixable.

And yes, DLC always brings people back to the game, prove me wrong, or even updates for that matter. The only screw-up I’ve seen so far is the Yun and Yang fiasco with the unbalanced shit. Then v.2012 came along and brought people back.

Also whats with the insults? Do you really have nothing to add to the conversation?

posted this in the wrong forum once:

Rematch option for endless lobbies with only 2 players
Rematch option from the pause menu
Button config on char select screen
Offline replays
Increase battle log to 100 replays
Hide player names from replays (either P1/P2 or both)
Select BGM (P1/P2/Stage) by pressing back/select at stage select
Option to eliminate certain stages from Random Stage select (eg. I never choose Volcanic Rim). Perhaps do the same for Random Char select?
Fix Gouken and Akuma’s BGMs
More stages
Option to set health in training mode: Infinite/Zero/Fixed amount (for testing combo damage)
Option to set dummy to not block on wake up even though autoguard is on
Dummy wakeup option: Special, normal, throw, (high/low) block, jump, backdash, custom, random
Option to switch P1 and P2 chars (and Ultras) in training mode without going to char select screen
Extend dummy recording time (I think SFxT is unlimited?)
Match request in training mode
Online training mode
Ability to switch training stage
Ability to pick old versions of chars (I dunno how I feel about this option for tourneys though)
Shorten the length of some of the Ultras and throws (eg. Seth U1, Blanka f.throw)
Can’t remember if Japanese Dan’s EX Gadouken voice has been fixed but it used to be too loud
X-platform online play? Pretty please?

Yeah, there are a shitton of sensible improvements possible (sit-out mode in lobbies, allow multiple matches at once in a lobby, an indicator who currently has the lifelead, visible hitboxes in training mode on top of a frame-per-frame viewer, etc etc) - that’s precisely why your suggestions of “new stages” and “new music” (and even going so far as to plead capcom to charge money for it, rofl) are a load of crap.
You’re talking like a capcom executive; “Sure there’s a million possible things which would improve our game… LET’S ADD NEW MUSIC AND LET PEOPLE PAY FOR THAT SHIT!”

Yeah, Dota/LoL are showing nicely how to keep a community huge by adding a new hero and completely overthrowing the balance on a monthly basis. That the game is becoming shittier with each and every patch is an irrelevant sideeffect, I guess. No… thanks.

Yes I tend to be unable to join monkeys in their ugauga talks. I’m sorry.

Won’t happen. GFWL/XBL crossplay is an inexistant farce because Microsoft has to cashgrab.

post K.O hits need to be back

actually there still are. but button presses aren’t recognized anymore after the K.O. signal. I’m pretty sure that if you input a cancel combo fast enough though it will execute even if the first hit caused the knockout.

Yeah I know what you mean, but I want it like it was in Vanilla. Gotta love beating on a dead horse

I’ve always hated hitting the opponent more than necessary, particularly when it was first introduced in 3D games. Always looked like you lacked precision and didn’t know what you were doing. It’s the main reason I lament the loss of Mitsurugi’s Relic stance in Soulcalibur - nothing I like more than killing the opponent and then casually sheathing my sword…

this

If we’re talking about things that Capcom should do (not considering balance, which is subjective) to make AE 2013 a game worthy of standing up to other PC eSports games, we need the following (with some personal wish-list things thrown in):

  • Unlimited storage for online and offline replays. You go into a menu and you denote how many replays you want the game to save space for you on your hard drive, and it automatically puts every match you play, offline and online, into that space. Offline replays are marked by a different color or something, and you can filter by offline/online, date, and so on.
  • Ability to both store and watch replays from a USB drive. That way I can record every match played on the main stream Xbox at a tournament (with the previous method, no input from the players required) and put up a RAR file of all the replays online later. You download them and watch the ones you want from your own console, complete with input display. (The community can come up with a way to reverse-engineer the replay file and build a little utility to convert between PS3 and Xbox replays, obviously Capcom will be legally unable to make that themselves)
  • “Rematch” option in pause menu, for fast button checks
  • Option to eliminate certain stages from random select
  • Option to switch P1 and P2’s characters in training mode, I can’t believe this is not here
  • 60 second limit on input recording in training
  • Ability to switch training mode stage
  • Manually select character’s reversal option: choose between any normal, any special, any ultra/super, and other options such as jump, backdash, focus, throw.
  • Ability to remove the fade-in, fade-out stage select screen. Just have a setting you can toggle in options that is always random stage select. So much time is lost with this screen and it’s so unnecessary. (Remember Vanilla’s stage select??)
  • Fix the 4 new character costume bug so I can actually buy the stupid new alternate costumes

My wish list:

  • Use advances in netcode since 2008 to improve netcode, would likely require a lot of development time though
  • Online training mode + arcade request when in training
  • Post-hit KOs
  • Remove unblockables, though this may not be possible as it’s a byproduct of the engine which may be too hard to isolate/fix without changing the game in undesired ways?
  • An announcer DLC pack. Add one or two new announcers (male and female?) that you can switch between in options. Maybe make one of them a classic voice, like CvS2 announcer or something. I think people would be surprised at how much something as trivial/random as this would breathe new life into a game.
  • A new stage or two.
  • SFxT’s sick replay analyzer thing.

Things Capcom will actually do, because they’re a Japanese company who values usability and features comparable with American developers on their most popular game in the last 5 years:
