After the Yang nerf debacle I’m absolutely terrified of any new revisions.
Wouldn’t mind if they put in some more costumes or something. Balancing, I dunno. On one hand the game is pretty balanced, on the other hand I think there are a few characters that could use some buffs. Yang springs to mind. But I wouldn’t want too much done. Even less than 2012 tbh.
agreed 100%. This game will stick for a long time. Player skill in this game keeps growing year after year.
Saw this in the Makoto forums, you think there might be any truth to this?
No please, not that. Fix SFxT or do an other project but please, AE 2012 is fine like that, not perfect but good. I think people request each year a new update because they get tired of SFIV, it’s just that. They just need to play an other game and to move on.
Every time I play another game I move back to SSFIV (Soulcalibur V excepted - but I fear that game’s gonna die long before I lose interest in it… :().
But then, I suppose, I’ve only been playing it since just before AE came out, so I’ve had less time to get bored with it. That and I’m a slow learner…
yeah well, you shouldn’t really rely on capcom OFFICIAL communication.
i really hope there won’t be any changes for at least two years, but the good side of it is maintaining the playerbase through novelty.
I dislike the idea that a game should be continually patched in this manner, at least a fighting game. All a balance patch will do at this stage is make different characters higher in the tiers. We didn’t get patches for third strike Yun/Chun, C-groove Sagat, A- groove Bison, or O.Sagat and all of those games saw massive success and play. Just let us work with the game, this one is more balanced than any of the games I mentioned.
I totally agree. To this day I still don’t fully understand who sat there and thought that was a good idea. Nerfing happens and characters get changed, but what happened to Yang was just stupid. If they thing that was okay and they clearly do imagine what they might do to others, and yet you look at SFxT and they talk so much about how they hoped the game would do better. Maybe if they actually changed things that mattered, people would stop using the same characters.
I’m not saying that an update is necessary, but I can’t be the only one who really wishes that Hugo, Rolento and Elena were in this game.
They’re probably gonna go for SF5.
Quote Ono in Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 238 (Spring 2010, don’t ask me why I’m so specific I picked it up because it was their Super SF4 issue):
I just read on IGN this morning that Capcom will have a big game announcement during their Gamescon press conference. Also, for those looking for an AE v2013, here’s an online petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/wantae2013/
Balance is fine right now, we don’t wanna risk Capcom fucking up again. They could add new characters, bring back the announcer of vanilla SF4, and show win rate online just like in the arcades.
Small tweak but I think if anything they need to add the ability to save offline Versus matches. Oh and add Karen, delete Oni (doubting they’d buff him enough to make him viable so add a good character instead and call it good :P)
Those changes would be very nice if Capcom decided to do so
THIS SO MUCH! I LOOOVED THE ANNOUNCER OF VANILLA, WHEN I FIRST GOT SF4 HIS VOICE I DUNNO MADE IT SEEM MORE AUTHENTIC, WHEREAS THIS ANNOUNCER HAS A VOICE LIKE A RETARD I REALLY HATE HIM
If there was a 2013 update, I’d want challenge mode updated to reflect the characters’ abilities in their newest/current incarnations, selectable ultras for random character selection, the ability to immediately rematch in online endless if there are only two players (in a private room, if any sort of “qualifier” is needed), and the ability to continue hitting your opponent after a knockout (a la 3S, not the softhearted vanilla SF4 one-and-done love-tap).
If there are any glitches or any unintended mechanical issues like people falling out of ultras when they shouldn’t, fix those.
Other than that, if Capcom can implement any netcode fixes, that’s all I could ask.
SF4 is a phenominal game. Some characters have terrible matchups, and that’s unfortunate, but, on the whole, SF4 is about as good a game as its core mechanics could possibly permit it to be.
I think you are right in that there are some small tweaks and added features that should be implemented. I like your idea of rematch in endless for two people only
Oni is not a waste of space or character slot.
