Arcade Edition - PC Stage Music Mod

Can you use this method to have custom music play for who you’re fighting like on the Arranged BGM setting instead of it going by stage? I’d love to use character themes from older games.

Works! thanks, now i play in some stages with music from SF 3rd strike!!!

If I wanted to change the character select screen music, and the music that plays after you win/lose how which .cbs files would I need to replace?

Technically that should be possible, but you would be limited to the Arranged BGM option - in other words you would only get the music from the character of player 2 (and Arranged BGM would need to be turned on).

It should work just by renaming your new *.csb files to the character/rival music files instead of the stage music files. So for example renaming your *.csb file to BGM_RYU.csb would set that music to play whenever Ryu was the player 2 character. These files are in the same folder as the stage music files, however in Arcade Edition there seems to be separate 2 channel and 4 channel versions of the rival music - for example there isn’t a file just called ‘BGM_RYU.csb’, instead there are two files - one called ‘BGM_RYU_2CH.csb’ and one called ‘BGM_RYU_4CH.csb’. I assume the game decides which file to play depending on your speaker setup - so if you are using stereo it will player the 2CH file and if you have surround it will player the 4CH file… anyway, you could just overwrite both of them with your new file to be sure. Definitely back up your whole ‘BGM’ folder before doing any of this.

These are the file codes for the different characters (so if you wanted to give Adon new Arranged BGM music you would rename your new *.csb file to ‘BGM_ADN_2CH.csb’ or ‘BGM_ADN_4CH.csb’),

These files are in… \Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\super street fighter iv - arcade edition\resource\battle\sound\BGM
ADN - Adon
AGL - Viper
BLK - Blanka
BLR - Claw
BOS - Seth
BSN - Boxer
CDY - Cody
CHB - Rufus
CMY - Cammy
CNL - Chun li
DAN - DAN
DDL - Dudley
DJY - Deejay
DSM - Dhalsim
FLN - Fei Long
GEN - Gen

KEN - Ken
MKT - Mokoto
RIC - El Furete
ROS - Rose
RYU - Ryu
SGT - Sagat
SKR - Sakura
VEG - Dictator
ZGF - Zangief
.

The four new AE characters are NOT in this folder however - they are in a separate ‘dlc’ folder. Here are their character codes,

These files are in… \Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\super street fighter iv - arcade edition\dlc\03_character_free\battle\sound\BGM
GKX - Oni
RYX - Evil Ryu
YAN - Yang
YUN - Yun

Please let us know if this actually works - remember you need Arranged BGM turned on and you need to be player 2.

Tested this out real quick using Dudley’s 3s theme - with Arranged BGM on and P2 set as Dudley it worked great. I only swapped out the 2CH.csb since I don’t have a surround system, so I would say your assumption about that is correct.

Many thanks

No problem.

After reading your question again I get the impression you also wanted to have character specific music in the other modes, such as Arcade mode, so if you came up against Ryu the game would play Ryu’s music. This is not possible with what we have at the moment (as far as i know). We’d need to figure out how the game uses the Arranged BGM option to play music for player 2, and then somehow make the game apply that same programming to who you fight in Arcade mode, but i’ve got no idea. I think it would require much more advanced game editing/modding than we are doing here.

Sorry I can’t be more help with this.

Oh no, that wasn’t it, this works perfect for local vs. and online play, so it’s exactly what I was looking for.

Then I don’t understand the difference from just turning on “Arrange” from the options, if you do that P2 music plays always in local and online Vs, why the need of the file swapping? I actually was interested in something like forthtight55 mentioned, like playing Arcade mode and hearing the themes of the characters I was fighting againts, but I get from his post that at the moment is a somewhat more complicated edit that needs to be better understood first.

The file swapping is because I was interested in using custom music (mainly just character themes from older games) instead of the game’s ost while still having it correspond to who I’m playing against like in Arrange mode.

Oh I see, custom music, my bad. Yeah that would be cool too, so much music / versions to choose from.

**UPDATE - Fixed Balrog (Boxer) Theme! **For some reason this particular track had turned out mono in the conversion and was only playing from the left channel so it was too quiet. I have remade the track and it is now stereo - you’ll find it in the ‘Part 4’ download in my main post (it’s one of the best themes).

New bit of info - if you want to change the music for the Trials you have to rename your *.csb to BGM_TRL.csb. The Trials take place in the Training Room (normally BGM_TRN.csb) but they actually use a different audio file - i’ve only just noticed this. The file goes in the same folder as normal.

Hi this is a really stupid question but where is the arranged bgm option? I looked in the sound menu in the game and its not there. Am I missing something?

set your title and icon and it unlocks iirc.

Update - Fixed Cody Theme! Sorry about this, but it seems the Cody theme also had a glitch - it was only 2 minutes long when the actual theme is supposed to be over 3 minutes. I have remade the Cody.csb file and it is the full length now - you can get it in the ‘Part 4’ download (from my main post).

I think this is the last bug.

Bumping for new players.

Balrog (Boxer) Theme in stereo has sound glitches . In the beginning stands.

What kind of glitches have you noticed? I’ve played the game with this stage music a lot and it seems fine to me.

Just before starting the music is heard as a fleeting burst, and in the course of the music comes hear a couple of times.
The sound is like a fleeting burst of interference.

I think there’s something wrong with the Balrog music in stereo, because the rest of the songs are heard loud and clear, perfects.

What’s the reason behind certain custom songs only playing mono? I tried to customize certain tracks but depending on the song, they play only from the left side while others are fine.
