You need to remember that BB came in production by a time where GG was on a nebulous legal situation between ASW and Sega Sammy. They didn’t have a choice but to put all their effort on BB until the legal situation with GG was resolved, now that it has, they have been openly hinting that they could be working on a new GG.

From what i remember, they have never insulted the GG fan base ever, If any the only thing that could have left a bad taste on people’s mouth was that the game was advertised as an Spiritual Successor of GG, but we will also need to forget that they also stated multiple times that the game was not going to play exactly like GG, that they will share some game mechanics but that they will not necessarily will work the same.
From all their interviews it was easy to see that BB was going to be the Antithesis of GG.
Also the only “negative” thing that they ever said about GG is that it grow quite complex so it became a little difficult for new players to jump into it, so they decided to create a new ip to use as a bridge to attract them.

Leaving all of that aside, something that i like about BB/P4A or any new IP that they could come into is that it gives ASW new room to experiment on, i am pretty sure that many of you are actually happy that instead of dumbing down GG they prefer to create a new IP.

BB (or any game for the matters) is not for everyone, i know that, but i think that both of you could like BBCP, it has changed many elements that where present of the complains of many people who disliked the previous entries of the series, it is faster and the combos over all have been decreased in length, of course if you are not fan of the rolls, they are still present.
Right now it has some elements of VS if you take the Over Drive as the Dark Force analogus.

It’s the design of the characters I don’t like. The characters that I like aesthetically (e.g. Ragna) don’t play in a way I like, and the characters I like to play with (Taokaka), I abhor looking at on the screen… whereas GG (Venom/Dizzy), SF (Blanka/Akuma/Yang/DJ/Remy), Marvel (Sentinel/Magneto/Wolverine/Ruby Heart), and several other games have characters that I like both.

I did like Makoto though, but I hate rekka characters (Except Yang, oddly enough)

I really hate when you say this, because despite your intentions, it implies that if GG is good, BB must be terrible if it’s the anti-GG. Just say that BB is a different take on the airdashing fighter, with an emphasis on giving everyone a unique gameplay mechanic to play around with.

Everything else was totally on point.

Makoto is’t really a rekka charcater

Well, i can only say that it sucks to be in that situation, lol.

Antithesis (Greek for “setting opposite”, from ἀντί “against” + θέσις “position”) is a counter-proposition and denotes a direct contrast to the original proposition. In setting the opposite, an individual brings out a contrast in the meaning (e.g., the definition, interpretation, or semantics) by an obvious contrast in the expression.

Being the antithesis doesn’t mean that one is good and the other is bad, it means that one is the counterpoint of the other; When i say that BB is the Antithesis of GG i mean that it is designed to be its counterpoint, by being simpler (arguable for some) and not focusing on the knockdown and oki game for example Or simplifying the meter management by giving each meter dependent tool one of its own (once again arguable for some).
You can see that outside keeping some mechanics (even when they could work slightly different) and some design philosophies (like every character being totally different from each other gameplaywise) BB was designed to do many stuff different of how was done on GG, that is why is the antithesis.

If we’re talking about mechanics, I’d argue Battle Fantasia is the real antithesis to GG; as a ground-based fighter with much less combo emphasis and a focus on SF-like fundamentals.

BB goes on a tangent from Guilty Gear, but it shares enough mechanics that I think calling it its opposite is inaccurate.

Perhaps, but i think that many people here consider games like BF and SF another sub genre altogether, besides is not like games with air dashes lack the “sf-like” fundamentals or can’t have a solid ground based game (like GG for example).
The differences between GG and BB are considerable imo, since they were made deliberately to make each other different while keeping certain chore mechanics. Think about them as opposites in the same spectrum.

I was referring more to this asinine remark http://www.destructoid.com/blazblue-exists-because-guilty-gear-fans-are-too-old--196660.phtml

But it doesn’t matter now, I am over that shit now. I still have my Guilty Gear and I am open to trying out new games. I will probably rent BBCP if I ever get the chance. Honestly? I may not like the character designs of Blazblue, but gameplay wise? It can’t be anywhere near as bad as Street Fighter X Tekken

You old men aren’t going to get what you want. Just saying.

Nah, fuck it. One less game to play is no sweat off my back. I have a big enough back log as it is…

Though, I still have faith that Arc can pull off another game as good as Guilty Gear.

Just because her shit isn’t, “qcf+attack, qcf+attack, qcf+attack” doesn’t mean I like the whole “qcf+attack, follow-up” method any better. Fuck that noise. I hit a button, I want the move to finish. I don’t need no follow up shit… Fuck, Kensou is my best character in King of Fighters - one of 2 that I can actually do decent HD combos with - and I refuse to use him because of his follow up nonsense. I get too lazy for that shit.

daisuke has been talking and hinting about a new GG for years and I really REALLY hope to see a new game, i also figure we’re still going to be waiting a long time before we see a totally new GG sequel

so i’ll just wait for the home console release update of +R and hope for the best

I hope whatever new game it is, it has a badass old man like Slayer and Valk.

Classy Old Men are a rarity in all forms of entertainment.
