Making good 2D animation in DS would require a high budget and ASW animation in all their games is rather too spartan.
I’d hate that in a DS game. the Skullgirls team would fare much better,
Capcom outsourcing Darkstalkers 4 to Arc System works, would be a fantastic idea. Give them a huge budget so we can have awesome looking sprites with incredibly fluid animation. Music would rock too.
“You wont believe how many copies and recreations there are of The Last Supper, many of which are painted by other very famous and great artists. However, people only care about, or even remember da Vinci’s”
I was joking about the Darkstalkers thing. I just want to see them branch out and do something really different from their past stuff. There was a lot of stigma around BB (deserved or not) for being “GG lite.”
BlazBlue (unfairly) got a raw deal in the beginning partly because it was seen as a newer, underdeveloped game that was “replacing” Guilty Gear. As the first installment of an entirely new series, Calamity Trigger had quite a few kinks to work out, and the fighting system wasn’t as complex as GG’s had become. But people tend to forget how messed up the original Guilty Gear was, how many iterations it had before it even got the XX series (which is what people are really talking about when they say “Guilty Gear”), and the iterations after the original XX to reach Accent Core.
BB started its own lifecycle in the shadow of a giant, and didn’t get the benefit of being treated like a new IP that was trying to do its own thing, so it got trashed. By the time CS2 came around and ironed out most of the early installment flaws, older players were coming around to it more, but the damage was already done. BB is still stuck with a stigma that it doesn’t deserve.
It’s pretty easy to just pass off people not liking BB as it being a stigma it doesn’t deserve if you ignore people’s actual complaints, sure. As with every game, there’s going to be complaints from people who have no idea what they’re talking about, but there’s still plenty of people with legitimate reasons to not like it. Don’t act like BB is a perfect game with an unfortunate reputation.
I don’t think I ever said BB was perfect. In fact, my exact quote was that CS2 ironed out most of the early installment flaws. “Most,” as in “not all.” As in BB still has some flaws.
There are legitimate complains, sure, but the majority that you end hearing are always compains about people wanting BB play like GG instead of letting the game evolve on its own beast, many of the problems that some have with BB is that they never understood that it wasn’t mean to be the replacement of GG, not even GG lite, yes they share core mechanics but at the same time they are way different from each other.
Another thing I would like to see from Arc, is if Daisuke has any major involvement in the next fighter, that the game tries really hard to resemble his particular art style, more. It’s rather distinctive and I think it would look cool, in motion.
I think that a new HD GG is a given considering their previous interviews
What i am actually interested to know going by how it was said on the interview on the OP is if this new IP will be console exclusive
The Devs didn’t really help themselves at the time when they pretty much just said “We’re just going to focus on BB for now” essentially putting Guilty Gear on the backburner. This was WAY before they even rereleased Accent Core plus. I think that must have left a bad taste in people’s mouths [the fact that they also tried to put over Blazblue by insulting the GG fanbase also didn’t help matters any]
I’ll admit, I wasn’t particularly impressed with Blazblue when I first saw it. These days however, I would probably be more open to giving it a shot
That’s exactly how I felt until I gave it a shot. Not to say you wont like it - I have no idea, nor will I try to push my opinion on anyone else… But I will say the game just wasn’t for me.
