Ok i’ve started a new thread: http://shoryuken.com/f177/arc-eye-2-0-leds-project-dhalsim-worklog-262101/ =D
I still need a set of Arc-Eyes in my joystick!
Hi I am quite new to the LEDs but I was wondering, since i have 8 buttons and 8 arc eyes (common power), and i want the buttons layed out for blazblue, I am wanting to make it so 4 lights are green and when pressed 3 of those lights will turn blue and 1 will turn red. The other four will remain white.
- Would this be possible to do?
- Would I have to solder all the resistors?
- Could you briefly say how if possible?
4… am I making sense? =S
sorry for the trouble and thanks very much!
Kevin.
- Hmmm. It may be possible to set Sparky Jr. up for that. 32Teeth could probably shed some light there.
- You probably should solder up all the resistors.
- Not sure how brief that explanation will be
4.Sort of…
If you are going to go the Sparky Jr route, yep, you can do this with a little bit of code tweeking.
If you only ever want this configuration of lighting, you can also go the hardwired route.
thanks Spenzalii and 32teeth.
Does hardwired mean just a lot of wires? I’ve been messing around with the arcs myself and I’m thinking of connecting one wire from the arc eye (green) directly to ground to allow the light always on and blue on to the signal so it changes when I press it, but would that not mean that the green and blue color mixes?
Correct… green and blue will mix to make yellow… you must be careful not to exceed the current limit of whatever your power source is if you are hard wiring (wiring to ground or power without a controller board like sparky)
Also if you want green to turn off and blue to turn on when the button is pressed, you will need something to intelligently control the LEDs (sparky)
That’s what I was thinking the other day, but I was too tired to find the link on what colors would give him what.
Wiring the lights to be green or white all the time is easy enough. But with the colors kevsey167 wants all being primary LED colors, I couldn’t see how they wouldn’t mix. I figure SParky Jr set to common anode could work, but how to program it for that is more than I could compute at the time. I’ve only done common cathode on any of my LED projects
Wow…a lot more difficult than I would of thought. I’ll just stick to light up on button press then. Should I still solder all the necessary resistors for each color?
Sorry for all the hassle everyone. I am very grateful for your help and I have learnt a lot more about circuit boards this way, so a very big thank you to you all =).
Kevin.
Nope… Arceye2 will have the resistors pre-assembled for 5v and you can pick any color you want with sparky pwm…
Sorry for the lack of updates… i caught a cold and i’m pretty sick right now
take a look here. i did write some custom code for a Sparky Jr user.

this code was pretty straight forward. and easily adaptable for multiple color variances.
if you haven’t been following the PWM version. here is another video

iPhone really doesn’t do any justice to the colors.
That’s awesome I’d love to try doing something like that.
@purplearms Ah I’ll be looking forward to those then =). I’ve still got a mild cold myself but I’m getting there =P.
Nice, especially the hand movement at the end, reminded me of this video.

I needed that laugh, thank you
I have a TEASYstrike installed in my TE.
I still don’t understand what I need.
I read about Sparky? From what I can gather; this is what tells the AE2’S what to do correct? So if I wanted differenct colors for different buttons/combinations the AE would recognize it from the Sparky?
I also remember a video that displays all of this can be done solderlessly. I’m reeeeaaalllly interested in copping mme some of these, and I’m sorry for not understanding as well as most of you.
Yes, sparky would be the “brains” telling AE what to do… they are plug and play with each other… there is a version of sparky that can connect to a teasy strike with a 20 pin ribbon cable… i think 32teeth has one in stock… we can probably put together a package for you if you can PM him to start…
How much will the Sparky run me?
And will these work well with the clear sanwas??
Thanks for the QUICK reply purplearms.
Check with 32teeth because sparky is his product.
These only work with semitsus, or rollies which can accept sanwa switches if you like the feel of sanwas better.
Check the FAQ in first post of the thread
So if I buy a button (seimitsu) I can replace the microswitches with sanwa and it’ll still feel like a sanwa button??
Semitsu and sanwa microswitches are incompatible with each other… but rollies are 3rd party buttons and their microswitches are direct swappable with sanwas…30mm rollies and 30mm semitsu screw ins are compatible with arceye2…
anyways, you should read up the first 3 posts of the arceye2 thread…
and here is the sparky thread:
and here is a link to where to get rollies:
