We’ll be hosting some fighting games just two weeks from now. We have three local Utah sponsors who will be giving out prizes. There is no entry fee to play. Just come and have some fun with other people who also love to play fighting games. This first tournament will be Marvel and SSBB. This will be a monthly event and so we will be doing a variety of things as time goes on. The venue is a large cafe with a giant separate room to hold the tournaments in. People who go visit during tournament hours will receive a discount on certain items. Registration starts at 6 and the tournaments will start at 7, hope to see you local Utah players there. You should include SF4 or SFxT to the mix to triple the turnout. With only Smash and Marvel, you can probably expect a 10 person turnout. Adding the Street fighter series would triple that easily.
Not very many people in Utah play Marvel, though I’ll go if it’s ran properly. I agree with Strider here that if you add Street Fighter or SFxT then you’ll get a lot more people. You may get a lot of people for Smash because every kid loves that game.
Marvel will be a double elimination tournament. It’s just tournament standard rules. SFxT is actually being considered but we would need someone that owns it for the Xbox 360 in order to run a tournament for it or I’d have to go out and buy it. We’ve actually have ran tournaments in the past so I don’t think there should be any major problems. Like I said, this is going to be a monthly event and the games we play can change, it’s just dedicated to fighting games.
