Bump for Ibuki Black and White Style illustration.
Now that Ibuki? Right there? Superb. You gotta spill the beans on how you got those streaming lines done
oh that’s no biggie. create a thin horizontal line of whatever thickness you desire (easier done on illustrator), copy and “paste into”. Now it’s pasted a copy on top of the first line, transform > move OR transform each. move it down how ever big you want the gap to be. Once you got that done, while still selecting the 2nd line, ctrl/cmd+ C, ctrl/cmd + F, ctrl/cmd + D (Copy > Paste Into > Transform Again). this will repeat each copy and pate, and move it exactly the same amount you did the last transform do each line will be equally spaced. luckily the 3 keys are right beside each other so just pretend it’s some mashing game and go as fast as you can. if you spaced the 1st and 2nd line by some number that can multiple easily, then you can get this done 5 times faster… in my case I transformed the first copy down by 2 px (starting from the top), copied the 2 lines and transformed them by 4, then copied all the lines and went 8, then 16, 32, 64, 128, etc. after that, tilt the lines if you like. export the AI as a psd, becasue the next part is done faster in PS.
Select all the shaded regions (not the black regions), invert select, select the hatching layer and delete. you’re now left with the hatching where you wanted them.
Actually you know what? I was compelled to try this style as the picture I saw ued hatching that was curved on a large radius and was fairly horizontal… but in my case of 45 degrees, (it can be tessellated) so an even faster way to do this is to make a small diagonal line on a small canvas, edit >define pattern, go to your drawing document, new layer, edit > fill, get your pattern on, done.
<3 the Ibuki/Moka.
Thanks, bumped for Opinions on which compositions I should lean towards.

nice Illustrator skills!
re: more dynamic poses – pay attention to the shoulders. keep them loose, they don’t stay in the same position or the same height all the time.
Not loose enough for ya? ;D I kept that in mind and I did drop the left shoulder a bit. perhaps it wasn’t enough, but I didn’t stagger it too much as I wasn’t exactly trying to get him to pose all stylishly, just dropping the design down for now. Will get an action pose in some other time.
Thanks for the feedback.
