Anyone make small custom arcade stick cases?

I want to build an arcade stick for my Sega Master System with a JLF, two 30mm sanwa buttons and one smaller 18mm button for pause.

But I have no idea what to use for a case. Does anyone here make custom cases out of wood or another cheap material? I don’t need anything fancy or large - I’d say a case the size of the NES Advantage or smaller would do me just fine.

Thanks.

You could make a cheap one out of a Radio Shack Enclosure.

Here is a Joystick I made for fun out of one of those cases. Just curious, the pause button on my Master System is on the Console itself, and every master system pad I’ve seen is 2 buttons. Is there a variation I don’t know about? Well any who the Master System controller doesn’t even require a PCB.

^That’s so awesome…

Wow, that’s amazing! I want something just like that, only with fewer buttons! That must be an American only product. Might I able to work something out for you to ship one to me?

Also, do you have more photos? I’d love to see the insides of one of those. It looks like you added legs to it?

To answer your question, yes the pause button is on the console itself. but the controller does not use every connection on the DE-9 cable. In fact, two inputs go completely unused. My plan is to wire up a jumper internally from the pause button on the console to one of the two unused pins, and then take that input and put it on the arcade stick, allowing me to pause without reaching for the system itself.

Yay Master System! You should be able to use a Genesis PCB. I have a Sanwa stick that’s using a combo Genesis/SNES PCB. I would try hunting down one of those. Then you could use it on all three.

Yeah I have a Genesis stick, but there are a handful of Master System games that can’t be played with the Genesis controller such as Bomber Raid. I’m going to directly feed the button inputs to the DE-9 cable just as what the Master System controller uses. No pcb required. That’s another reason I want a case that’s small. it just needs to be long enough to accomidate a real sanwa JLF arcade stick and that’s it.

That’s a cute stick rtdzign.

Usually I dont Build sticks any more but this is too easy to do, shouldn’t take up much of my time. Shoot me a conversation to work out the details. I can get some thing to you for a reasonable price. I guess you would also need a 9 pin de-9 port that you could stick on a genesis extension cord, you would have to do your own wiring though.

Below is a 15 pin port on back but I would put a 9 pin instead.
