Anyone here bought a VEWLIX kit from KRAY?

you start with 80 grit followed by 220-300 grit. you need to bondo first before sanding. then apply primer. sand the primer with 220 as needed. apply color coats. sand again as needed. apply clear coat. buff for mirror finish. that’s the simple version

That looks really awesome.

my krey still has no art… wish i could commission someone but nobody returns my pms…I will pay!!! lol

Thanks aminthemachine. I’m having the cabinet painted by someone. Is it better to paint it while it’s still apart or put together? As far as the sanding goes I’ll be doing it myself.

i am doing all the sanding/prep work and the painting while having it seperated.

Cool. Yeah i shot an email to Kray and he gave some tips on sanding, priming and painting. Thanks for your help.

You all should try Krylon Xmetals. That stuff is the sexiest paint Ive ever used on MDF and Plastics. Its like a combo acrylic dye and paint.

Where do you buy it & do you have sample of how it looks?

Here’s hoping Kray and his family are alright after a couple of tornadoes went through the Dallas/Fort Worth area today.

Im dying to get one of these kray just emailed me that he wont ship to puerto rico I guess he ships ground right?

cuz shipping to puerto rico is same or cheaper than in the US.

Prepping went extremely well and painting is going smooth as well. Finished priming yesterday and started on white coat. I’ll put some pics up when I get home from work in the next hour.

Here is the link to my progress photo album. Let me know what ya think.

Great progress, how much do one of those spray paint cost…i just been using a regular spray can bottle, this looks easier…

Pics look great man. Are you just doing white? Did you use automotive paint and what’s the model of your spray gun (devilbiss finishline flg 4 possibly)? I’m planning to do black and red for my cab. I’m in the midst of buying the necessary paints needed.

The whole set was on ebay for 69.99 with free shipping. You can actually get a 2 gun set for around 40 but I would recommend getting the 4 piece set because it comes with a priming gun, base gun, touch up mini gun, and the regulator. Here’s a link to the one I bought

Depending on the size of your air compressor you can get gravity guns or regular. I got gravity because my brother in law has a smaller compressor so gravity works better with it.

Yes I used automotive lacquer paint. I am doing my cabinet white and orange. I picked up 2 quarts of primer. If you aren’t familiar with painting all that much I would get 3 quarts. 1 quart of white, 1 quart of orange, and 2 quarts of clear coat. The base coat shoots thinner so you don’t use as much as you do of the primer/clear coat. I used Duplicolor ready to shoot paint that requires no thinning or mixing. Just stir it up good, pour in gun and you are good to shoot. They run 24.99 a quart for primer, base and clear. I can’t recall the model name of the guns I got but I linked them in the post above. I linked the paint I use below. You can pick them up at any automotive store (Autozone, advanced autoparts, O’Riely). I just glad I only need 1 quart of orange as I was only able to locate 1 quart locally in Houston.

That’s the brand and how the can looks. They all have the same layout just with different colors. Primer and Clear Coat say it in big letters on the can.

Thanks for all your tips bro. Post some pics once your completely done

Here’s an update after today’s session. I got out of work early so instead of 2 hours of sunlight Shawn and I had about 4 to work with. We got a lot accomplished today. Finished all of the white base coat and the orange, and got 2 coats of clear on all pieces. I added the pics that were taken today to my album. I’ll link it again if you want to check them out. We are both busy this weekend so that last 2 coats of clear will be applied next Wednesday and after it drys over night we will hit it with the buffer to give it that nice polished mirror finish. I’ll have it back home by next Thursday. Ordering the last of my parts on Wednesday (pcbs, white buttons, wires and fans). Wiring and all will keep me busy most of the weekend until I can buy a tv in 2 weeks. With everything staying on schedule the arcade will be up and running in 2 weeks. Here’s the link for the new pics.

Started working on my Kraylix last weekend. It has been a challenge especially first time working with bondo! That stuff dries really quick and has been a nightmare to work with. Working on my primer currently followed by sanding and hopefully my first round of Valspar High Gloss Lacquer soon. I am following the guide on the forums to get the polished look.

Would you mind listing which compressor you’re using with your guns? After looking at your pics it seems to be working out really well. Also I don’t know if you can answer this but if I decided to use metal flake paint or introduce metal flakes into whichever paint loaded into the gun; would it still work? As in, actually distribute and not become clogged?
