Anyone else think the gameplay is a joke?

^^^ “someone says something I don’t like… Wah Wah Wah close thread pls I need my safe space”

LOL

He’s trying to sound important. I already asked for a close on page 1.

There will always be ultra for you man. All the things you like seems like it’s in ultra and you do not like the new shit.
Sf5’s combos are just as long, buuuut you lose meter as the tradeoff :]

just like 4 >> and everything else >> Variables ftw.

No no. He’s abolsultey right. the mighty SF5 cannot dare compare to the ULTRA SF4. I mean there’s no comparison. The guy is completely in the right. There is NO WAY he could be wrong. Best to just nod your head and walk away.

I’m confused by this.
Super in this game is qcf, qcf.
i think maybe the most shortcut it can be is d, df, d, df, f. I know it has to end on forward.

This is different than in say 3S where it is d, df, f, d, df will count.

I have the exact opposite issue. I am getting shoryuken when I do what to me is a ‘normal’ super input which would work fine in 3S.

Super is more strict in this game while shoryu is sloppier (compared to 3S). I can’t even wrap my head around getting accidental supers when trying to shoryu. You must be bangin around that stick gate something fierce.

Usually theve “game is,simple dudes” arex the freeest of the free

It’s been that way forever.
sf2 shit on 3 shit on 4 shit on 5 blah.

Bitchin blah he’ll either play it or stick to 4 as usual : P it boils down to if you still feel like fishing for red focus instead of crush counters basically.
Unsafe fadc is the best fadc imo, all I will say, all I will say

I like that SFV has gone back to more basic stuff, USF4 was too complex imo, there were too many options and newer players wouldnt use all those options. Atleast in SFV theres only the V-Trigger/Reversal going on along with your meter. I am a casual player but even I can make the best of what is given, unlike in USF4, you had Focus attack, FADC, red focus, ultra and meter management. Its better for a scene to go back to basics on a new release and gradually add in more system as the game ages. If you were a new player and given USF4, would you really be able to use all those systems within 3days? I highly doubt it.

There are lots of other sources of system depth! Not even counting things like whether or not you know optimal punishes for every move at every range on block, there’s one very simple source of depth:

The fact you’re playing another human being. The thing that makes SF5 is that the better your reads of your opponent, the better your outcomes. If you are saying that you can read every opponent like an open book then that’s great, but I think ultimately that’s kind of the point, right? The game provides a cool system in which you can compete with another human mind and measure yourself against it. The game has not (yet) shown any seriously degenerate tendencies, and seems like it accomplishes that goal quite neatly!

If you were the READS GOD ™ then you could drop sick max damage crush counter punishes on people non stop. You could do swag non-reaction parries and perfect wake-up nonsense every time. But this type of depth is constantly shifting and cannot be learned simply in the lab…

This game has 0 combo depth, you can give the controller to a 5 year old kid and he’ll pull off the most complicated stuff in the game.

Sign that kid up for EVO, he’s going to make you a lot of money.

Even desk can’t do shit with this game, at least admit that this game is garbage in terms of combos.

What exactly are you looking for?

It’s Street Fighter. It’s the most basic fighting game series out there.

If you want a more complicated game, there’s other fighting games out there. But Street Fighter is what it is. It’s a very straight forward game really at it’s core.

Game has no combo depth? What does that even mean?

This is a glorified “game a versus game b” thread. Thought you knew better, SRK.

You can disagree with the OP, but don’t make stuff up. SF2 WW was not a failed game. I know, I was 10-11 when that game came out. It was such a phenomenon, hence CE/special CE edition, Turbo/Hyper fighting, Super, and Super turbo. SF alpha 1 and 2 weren’t failed games, SFIII was sort of a failed game because it didn’t come out for any of the major consoles. ie… not the PS1, not n64, and didnt’ really hit the masses until it was re-released to the PS2. To the fighting game community however, it was always regarded as a great game. SF4 brought about the revival of the street fighter series after a long layoff with SFIII, and we all played the various iterations of it, until Ultra.

The second part of the response is that, while it is true the OP hasnt’ played the game long enough to really guage it. It doesn’t mean he somehow doesn’t know the general core mechanics of the game. It doesn’t take long to realize that yes, the general core mechanics of this game is back to being more footsie, less invincible moves or unblockables, no FADC or parries for everyone, and so forth. It is more of a back to the basics games. We all have already realize this, me, you , the OP, so no need to bash him for that. If he decides not to like the game for that reason then oh well, his loss.

However, I do agree with most people including you in saying that, while the core mechanics of the game is pretty much known, the meta around the game, and the various techniques, and other skills that will be found out and used, really does require more time. Plus, if Capcom sticks to this strategy of having less shotos, and more unique styles, with uniqe v-triggers and v-skills, then there is ample opportunity for added variety with each new character added, and such, even if the basic core of the game is simpler, I still would suggest waiting for the “noncore” stuff to come out, which you definitely pointed out.

So an agree and disagree in one post. Enjoy.

Not everyone has to like everything. Every new iteration of SF loses a few players and gains a thousand more. Overall the game will continue to grow.

Yeah. How could anyone forget that surge of popularity that came with every iteration of SF3.

No I didn’t think that. Anyone else think the OP has mild autism?

yeah man i feel ya. me too.
