Anyone else not buying into the SFV hype?

It was a jokey callback to another thread. I posted it directly under a man who was shouting at another man who was shouting at him about whether or not Ryu could be called the guy. I was not in fact emotionally distraught over it.

I haven’t played this game since posting in that other thread because it’s a buggy unenjoyable pile. I have had said to me and definitely said to others way, wayyyyy worse things than any of this while playing League. That game is a salt mine on a salt asteroid that was created when a salt planet crashed into another salt planet because an angry god of salt using arms made of salt smashed them together. The difference between this and league is that league is fun and includes in game chat. This game is unfun and the only interaction with the FGC this forum, reddit, or 4chan seems to provide is people shouting at eachother or talking about Mikas ass. I literally want in game chat, even if it includes trash talk, because at least it’s not an empty void.

if this is your way of excusing yourself, thanks.

People whom buy into hype remind me of excitable chimps.

If you do not enjoy the game then play something else instead of anguishing over it.

Pretty much.

I’m waiting on the next release later this year.

It’s like there’s not much to improve on in this game and you’ll only experience three kind of resistances in this game.

  1. The experienced who know their shit and proceed to dominate you and you can’t really be mad, since they knew what they were doing.
  2. Zoners.
  3. People who sit there and turtle till you come into their space and strictly only punish. It’s not like they’re good or anything, but they just do the same repetitive set ups and wait for you to enter their space to repeat the loop.

The latter two wouldn’t be such an issue if this game wasn’t so rewarding off hit confirms with almost any character.

I forgot who in here tried to laugh about “lol hit confirms were in SF3”, but now that I think about it, the main big damage one hit confirms in 3s came from ken or chun. everyone had them, sure, but it wasnt as big revolving around their entire play like chun.

The game feels so underwhelming and it has you sitting there like, “Really?” when you see shit that wouldn’t fly in like any other game but this one or SFIV.

That’s the thing, v-trigger isn’t free for either bison or nash. The utility comes at the cost of options for chars that dont have invul wakeups.

I have no hype for SF5…

Nevermind that, hype restored.

QFT

I’ve already got bored and sleepy even watching top Japanese plays. This isn’t the case in SF4 at least, except some mirrors and Elena.

I would think finding a game unfun would be a more serious problem than anything. I played SFIV and now play SFV in this cold, empty and lonely void you keep talking about and I don’t get it. The game’s fun, why do I need someone telling me what a bitch I am while playing it?

The game is 3 weeks old. Gimmicks work very well in the beginning. Stop complaining about a game that is in it’s infancy.

People were saying vanilla SF4 was too basic. The game will evolve and change. The biggest difference here though is that SFV has a way, wayyyy stronger foundation to build on than SF4 did.

Compare SFV in gameplay terms to WW, Alpha 1, NG and SF4. SFV feels good to play right now without any updates whatsoever, the game is good as it is. I’m hype to see what it will be like 1 year, 2 years down the line with more characters, stronger players and a better understanding of the game across the board.

Nah, love it. It’s honest, and once you get up in skill level, it’s very very rewarding to win matches. all the need to do is build on this foundation. Waaaaaaaay better than SF4, even better than the reiterated iterations like Super and Ultra. Just pissed off all the casuals with the weak features and crappy launch. Still time to right the ship, and when you have a solid base, it’s makes going forward very hype.

I remain very hype about the gameplay, just not what it’s wrapped in or how it was presented as a product. Gameplay is rock solid and the cast is amazing.

I’ll be beating a dead horse, but my hype for this game isn’t as high as it could’ve been. It died down along with the toning down of stuff in general during the beta period and only a few things got buffed up to my liking. I was an early adopter because of the early gameplay showcases and because the previous gen had a decent track record in terms of content, but ultimately it didn’t deliver as much as I was hoping… partially due to them deliberately removing things or making them weaker. That extended cut trailer with all those new moves that didn’t even make it to the beta still has me salty.

To not be overly negative, I will say I do like that normals as a whole are more usable because there’s no universal mechanic that nullifies them 80% of the time, I like that white chip got buffed before release, stun is visible again, the crush counter changes and I like the 3f input buffer to make links not as strict to pull off (although I wouldn’t mind regardless).

-I still don’t like the lack of damage on some normals, the weaker throws, limited options on hit due to pushback or low frame advantage, the stubby normals for certain moves (that just doesn’t make sense to me in ANY fighting game), slower walkspeeds, random frame drops, horrendous load times and no chip kills unless you burn all your bar. That’s just gameplay stuff, but even as a competitive/tournament player, I wish they didn’t handle the launch so poorly with the lack of content as well. Because all that toning down in the gameplay was for more newer players to get into it, but they defeated the purpose of that by rushing their product out in a very unattractive state. I feel they could’ve at least waited until this March update to put it out and the results/sales would be WAY more positive.

I’m more vocal about the things I don’t like because I still hope they can be improved/changed. Right now the game is “okay” to me, but I want it to be MUCH MORE than “okay”. I have a good history with SF and prefer its emphasis on the ground game and the space control around that than other fighting games, so I would rather be more excited to play it than Guilty Gear, but right now… I’m just not. Hopefully that changes because I’ll always be a SF player first before other games. It still has potential to be a lot closer to my ideal SF, but not in the state that it’s in right now imo.

Lol Pnoy wins every local tournament. EXCEPT FOR MONDAY! Btw, add me on Facebook. Lol.

Well, none of the other games had as strong a beta as 5 did. And the era of communication we are in now compared to the one we were in when SF4 came out certainly should help as well.

That’s only going to continue to be an advantage. SFV has serious potential.

I was super excited for this game since last E3. Loved it the first 2 betas. Then from beta 3 onward the game has had this weird sterile feeling to me. The pacing and game play used to feel like this sweet mix of ST and 3S with some new things thrown in. A lot of the cast lost some really fun tools and options as the game developed. Felt like I was literally watching the game get the fun sucked out of it. I think this is where a lot of the Ken negativity comes from. He plays like a completely different character now than before (from beta 2) and I’m one of those people who found him not as wonderful to play because of it. That is subjective of course.

Then there’s been my personal experience with the online component. Started out great for the most part and then steadily became worse through each beta phase. By beta 4 and 5 I was getting matched up with only Mexican and Canadian players. Launch week was great online. Then after server maintenance that weekend it became worse than the previous beta as I now only get matches with players on the other side of the world.

For a while I had to force myself to try and like this game but I pretty much have practically dropped it already. I haven’t even turned the game on in almost 3 weeks. I would have to say I find the game very unsatisfactory. I spent a good amount of 6 years playing a game I didn’t like. Not really interested in doing that again. Lol

If you’re trying to argue that this game is buggy and not fun then that’s a very shallow argument. The online needs fixing but the game itself is not buggy except for the one glitch with claw and chun, and I find this game to be mountains of fun, and so do thousands of other people. I don’t care about chat either. I can’t play this game and talk at the same time and expect to perform well. Either way you say you want chat but you also state that the FGC is a bunch of people shouting at each other…so you want to shout at other people online and vice versa? If you don’t enjoy the game then move on.

Characters are my main source of hype, and I’m overly hyped about alex and the urien. Guile I’m midly hyped for and the others characters are ehn. I have two things to look forward to in the short term and long term so that’s neat, but I really wish there were some incoming features such as color editor and customizable music. To me that would make the game much more enjoyable, and I doubt it’s hard to implement either. KOFXIII and TT2 did a great job at it.

It’s not buggy, that’s why lobbies still crash and I still can’t see a players account information before 50% of my fights. It was bug free, that’s why it was literally unplayable for days. It’s bug free, that’s why it frezzes on minimize constantly and has incredibly bad multi monitor support.

Maybe it’s because I’m on PC, but the game is very, very badly made.

I did.

The FGC isn’t the people playing this game. The “FGC” is a small insular community of people who have been playing fighting games for two decades and who play most fighting games. They talk to eachother outside of the game. It’s a club. What I want to do is talk to my opponents before during and after fights and have the option to rematch them if I enjoyed myself. I want to do that inside the game itself. Having to develop an entirely new social group just to enjoy a game is onerous at best.
