Any Pad Doom players?

I play analogue and the only annoying thing is that I might get laser instead of footdive, but I feel like the combos are all about timing. I can even land TAC combos during matches. His corner loops are very easy and his midscreen BnBs take some timing but it’s pretty easy.

Pad Doom and I can do his loops fine.

Don’t worry about playing pad or stick. The only characters that I feel are harder on pad are the “Keep your charge up” ones. Namely, Zero. Also Vergil, though to a lesser extent.

Pad is fine. I play stick but after a few hours could do advanced combos and stuff with Doom. I can understand wanting the cross or analog. I cannot fathom choosing those buttons though. Ugh.

Even those are easy , just map ur light atk to L2

See, I can’t. L2 is my Assist 2 button.

doom’s new corner is hard T_T

Not for me. What I pretty much do after the first launch is this: (hold foward during M, H, S, addf immediately after S, whiff M on the way down to land faster, H, S) I repeat that three times and usually end it with tiger knee plasma beam into photon array or I put them in the blender for max damage. What I am having a problem with is Doom’s tri-dash. My dash button is R shoulder with L+M+H on Xbox and it’s very difficult for me to tri-dash because I can sometimes whiff the butter gun and get punished. Any ideas?

that’s not doom’s new corner. i’d link it on youtube but I’m at work. it does way more damage than the old combo. 900k+ for 1 meter, 1.2 mil with doom time.

for tri-dash, you need a dash that’s L+M only so you don’t get laser.

Are you talking about that combo that Marlinpie did? And I tried the L+M for dash but it screwed up my X-Factor flow…I’m about to start using Vergil so I need L shoulder for his sword charge. Pressing R shoulder with H and S buttons for X-Factor is pretty awkward for me lol.

remapping buttons for specific characters is one of the weaknesses of using a pad. I now use R3 for x-factor, based on my team composition :expressionless:

I use Doom on pad and honestly he’s not hard at all.
My standard bread and butter combo (it requires you to have certain teammates on your team though) with him does about 1.25+ million damage meter neutral from mid screen starting from a standing :l: or from a :h: PHUT DAIVE!!! and I have no problems pulling it off consistently.

Oh wow. Guess it’s time for some lab. Gonna be hard to adjust to L+M dash and this new combo, but I need to make my Doom as powerful as possible lol. Thanks for the link.

How could it possibly be harder to play Doom on pad? One-button dash! Pad is *the *way to play Doom, as it is for any character that doesn’t use the L+H button combination like Taskmaster. Or Zero. Zero is a nightmare on pad.
D-pad is good, but you can also use the stick to have easier buffers into stuff like flight for M&Ms.

. . . I’m a big pad advocate. Unless it’s a 6-button game.

BTW, hi, LeonHeart here, I mostly hang out on the Captain sub-forum. Finally decided it was time to buck up and learn Doom, so here I am.

How’s it going, Leon? Doom’s really fun to play and I agree he is very accessible on pad. You’ll have a good time while learning Doom.

Pretty well. I got corner loops Day 1, M&Ms on Day 2, Doom 2 color coordinates with the Captain, (YO DAT SYNGERGY! Lol.) and at around Day 3 Buktooth is finally coming to me. (It helps if you cancel from M to 6H early on the first hit, as Doom does not rise as much. I have no idea why people think the Clockw0rk loop is easier.)

Meanwhile, while my Doom is still ass, the combos I land with Captain America are doing at least 800K because of Missiles OTGing and giving me another raw Heavy Charging Star, or that xx Hyper Charging Star

Well, you’re progressing faster than I did when I started lol. Heck, I still have problems consitently tri-dashing without the laser gun coming out.

I still have that problem occasionally. Seriously though, if it’s a projectile, why isn’t *that *6H?

Dash with L+M - problem solved

Something that also seems to work, make sure you’re not still holding up for the jump if you want a low to the ground airdash. At a certain height you’ll just airdash up, but at the lowest height, it seems that when you have the up direction inputted when attempting low to the ground airdash, you get your highest priority normal in your dash command.

I recently switched from pad to arcade stick about 2 years ago. I can still play on pad but I prefer the stick. Anyways, I went to my friends house when the game first came out and taught them some Doom tech using the pad. It works it just hurts my hands haha.
