The death of the Masterdome and the Gabber/Partycore/Hardcore scene is what marked the end of the rave for me.
Yet strangely, I find myself returning to the rave scene, and I find myself back on SRK.
FYI, there is a company throwing raves now called Technofancy that is really fucking cool. They seem determined to return the rave scene to it’s former glory.
