I’m going to our crap school arcade today, since the CvS machine isnt broken [yet].
I was thinking rather than just picking my team at random when I get there, if you guys have any unique teams you bust out. I mean I know about the standard power groups, but they’re not really fun for experimenting.
So yeah, any crazy combos you can think of would be cool (combos as in teams). I’ll pick 3 of em and then let you know how fast I lost with them. :bgrin: Thanks.
K: Iori, Chun-Li. Chang
N:Honda, Ryo, Benimaru
S: Rugal, Yuri, Maki or Kyosuke (I swear to god S-Kyo is a fucking shark.
P:Kim, Guile, Bison
A:Cammy(battery), Yamazaki(User, yes, the user), Ryu
C:Morrigan, Eagle, Akuma
These are the teams i am experimenting with right now.
C-Joe/Kyosuke/Kim = Team Fun Combos! Joe has fun stuff to do with the links after fierce RC hands and the triple DP combos in the corner. Kyosuke has a lot of fun ways to land his double relaunch combos. Kim has the infinite and the tiger knee dive kicks combos in the corner. Fun! If Kyosuke stops pulling his weight then I switch in Yun for fun triple dive kick combos (and dizzies after two mix ups).
N-Vice/Kyo/Iori = Team Momentum. Get one knockdown and go buck wild.
K-Rock/Geese/Cammy = Team Sloppy Rush With Obvious JD Setups
A-Maki/Todo/Hibiki = Team Guaranteed CC Off Of A Grab
Buk’s C-Joe/Kyosuke/Kim: This team was actually the easiest to use out of the group, and it gave me some semblance of respect for Kyo and Kim (moreso for Kyo since I knew Kim could do shtuff.)
Kabuki’s N-Geese/Bison/Sagat: The most powerful team, but our cabinet’s AI is set to God -1 level. This led to somewhat excessive dying. Fun though. I never bothered to learn Bison.
box’s K Team Sword: I sucked it up with these guys. It was fun replaying Samsho and Lastblade though
What sucks though is that now, our machine is broken. Someone went apeshit on the 2P stick. I found this out the hard way when I took on a C- Ryu/Ken/Akuma and couldn’t jump to the left. Kim repped for the whole team though… but I was boxed. So yeah now our arcade sucks on a whole other level.
yea, i’m curious on those too. triple uppercut combos in the corner? and what other combos do you have after RC hands besides linking a sweep? interesting…
my fun teams
P-rolento/cammy/chun li (team i love bouya plus cammy!)
C-ken/chun li/sagat (team “let’s mess up our links into supers”)
C-dhalsim/rolento/blanka (team iyo/ohayo)
…even my fun teams are too high up in the tier rankings, my bad. i need to learn more fun characters, but when you never have any comp, you usually just practice with your best teams when you’re playing PEOPLE, not the computer.
My C-Joe combos aren’t like crazy damaging or anything, they’re just fun to do. Still decent dmg though.
RC hands (4 hits), link whatever the hell you want
The “baku cancel” combos. Cancel is kind of a misleading word in this case since you’re not actually cancelling anything; you’re just tapping the hands in a certain way so that he ends RIGHT when the fourth hit hits. To do it, do RC hands then tap jab+fierce twice kinda quickly. No idea why that works, but yea. If done correctly, Joe has like a +15 or so advantage after the hands and you can link pretty much whatever you want. Common examples:
-RC hands, slide
-RC hands, walk up HK
-RC hands, walk up MP into RC hands
-RC hands, walk up LK (optional) into lv2 punchy super, cancel into fierce hands, walk up HK (actually less damage than just letting the super finish, but does a lot more stun. And it’s fun!)
And of course, just using the huge advantage off of “baku-can’ed” hands is fun in itself. You can easily walk really far up to the opponent and try to get counter hit shorts, dash throws, go for long elaborate guard crush strings in the corner, etc.
The triple dp combo is pretty old actually:
(corner) level 2 screw upper, dp+LK, dp+MK, dp+HK
The first dp+LK must hit as early as possible so that the opponent kinda falls into Joe’s knee. After that it’s just doing the dp’s as soon as possible. Looks fresh!
(midscreen) level 2 screw upper, whiff fierce hands, dp+HK
Not particularly flashy or difficult, still fun to do. :bgrin:
The book says to do far s.LP xx super after the hard crazy hands. Whoever helped write it definitely must not of known how good the four hit version is if they were telling people to do wickedly hard combos like that.
That walk up LK into the level 2 combo you have is sick. Doesn’t even sound that hard either once you get the 4 hit hands down. I’ll have to practice comboing MP into crazy hands as well.
Anybody want some C-Ken advice? Everybody here should play Joe from now on. He’s like the good Ken.
I found a new arcade just tonight and used K-Bison/Sagat/Ken. I destroyed the AI, and didnt even get to use Ken, who was my 2R anchor lol. First Time I ever had to fight a 4 ratio too (a bison, it was over fast). Too bad it cost twice what it does at my school’s arcade, so one-crediting was more like two.
I remember back in '94 me getting tossed around with Joe, allways liked how cool he looked but I sucked with him so I went on with Terry. Now this time maybe I won’t suck with Joe.
