Another Voodazz dump

I’ve been focusing on a somewhat new art style, trying to be looser with my pencils and give my characters some life. Eh, anyway here are three cleaned up wips of mine. Any and all constructive and helpful comments are welcomed since I tend to overlook certain details… working on it though.

My version of Safari Joe. The BEST one shot character EVER to appear on thundercats!

Elle from Kill Bill with therapy bear.

Phase one of Akira project featuring Keneda or however you spell his name.

Yeesh. Whose leg do you gotta hump to get a critique around here?? :xeye:

hey,
nice drawings you have here. very clean.
a few crits though- i think you can wrap the tattoo around elle a little better. also, since your work is just lines, i think you can go a little further into details especially on the clothing/folds.

i’m not sure if you would, but maybe consider using some line weight. you have a very distinct style, but i think thinning out some parts and adding thicker lines can bring them to life even more.
but again, very nice drawings. i love kaneda’s pose.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I hear you about the varying line weight but I wanted to experiment on a super clean and simple linework and forces me to make the color palette carry the weight. Something I need to work on in general. I hope that makes sense.
Thanks again!

nice line work voodazz.
It looks like you used a path or curve to draw the lines?
Because photoshop draws lines with the ends rounded off… I would suggest tapering the ends of the lines so that they’re pointed when lines end and where lines meet for a sharper and cleaner effect.

and i think for safari joe, the lines that define muscle could be left to the imagination. :stuck_out_tongue:

just some suggestions.

nice work.

Looks cool, and its Kaneda, are you using the pen tool?

Thank you so much for the crits everyone! I really do benefit from them as an artist.

As for my technique, yes, I’m using pen pen tool in illustrator to ink my pencils. It was a pain in the ass at first, but doing your link work in vector gives you a lot more flexibility plus I just wanted to do something totally different from my usual more traditional process.

Thanks again! keep 'em coming!

El’s hand that’s grasping the bear looks weird. Either her thumb should be behind the bears head or the bears head should be squished more.

Finally was able to color another one. :razzy:

Another revision to Elle. She looked like a drag queen 80s hair band singer so I tried to “femenize” (is that a word?) her a bit more.

Thought it would be cool to include a progression pic too.

^I really like that picture
your style is very unique dood

Two more wips for the dump!

Childrens story concept I’m working on featuring a big rock dude and little girl. I don’t know whether to make the two giants or make the elephant tiny. Either way is pretty trippy!

Something that’s been rattling around in my head for awhile.

You have an interesting art style. Keep it up. You entered the SF4 contest, right?

No, I haven’t! I didn’t know about it until I read your post. I should really start paying more attention to the stickies. :shake:

General consesus from my peers and my sister’s kids was that the giant was too “scary”. So I made a bit friendlier.

I like ur style Akira pic seams strange Im not sure what it is maybe it just the bike is laid over the other drawing. Question for u did u ink in photoshop or by hand and if u use photoshop to ink ur lines how the hell u make those lines so smooth?

Self portrait with some buddies. :wgrin:

Why can’t I see my pics anymore??

Probably because their hosted at geocities, which doesn’t work temporarily sometimes. I wasn’t able to see your pics earlier, but now I’m able to.

Yeah, I’m going to transfer my pics to photobucket. I’ve had it with geoshitty.
