having read most of the posts on here as to what is the best i still cant decide.
i have ordered a stick from arcade in a box and have gone for the sanwa jlf with a square gate.
now i mainly play with ken/ryu but do use cammy/fei-long if i feel like a change.
is the square gate suited more for these characters or would an octo-gate be better.
i was lucky enough to play sf4 on one of the offical capcom arcade machines and was having real difficulty in pulling of any of the moves with both ken/ryu with the arcade stick on the unit.
im know practice makes perfect but i dont really want to start modding the joystick because i should have gone with the octo-gate to start with.
all thoughts are welcome good or bad.
thanks in advance.
you should have gone with what you’re comfortable with. why would you go with a square gate just because other people said they like it more?
the square gate was the standard option and the octo-gate was an extra upgrade.
having read most of the feedback about the 2 (when i ordered at the end of november) i decided to stick with the standard choice as that seemed to be the all round better choice, but having looked at the last couple of days posts, it looks as if the square gate favours charge characters.
having not played on an arcade machine since sf2 came out (a very long time ago) and been a pad user i am not comfortable with anytype of stick at the moment(probably why i sucked when i played on the sf4 machine), so its gonna be like starting all over again.
Either way you’re gonna learn how to play on a stick all over again regardless of what gate you choose.
same here. I just recently got an hrap 3 after many many years of d-pad use. Took me a couple of days to get into a comfortable technique to pull off ken/ryu movess with the square gate. Don’t worry you’ll get it.
Even if playing with a square gate is uncomfortable you can easily switch between the two gates at any time to see which of the two you prefer. Well I guess it’s an easy mod depending on the stick.
