Recently i bought Painter IX because it seemed to be the software that everyone was using… with awesome results too i might add. With the academic version pretty cheap i decided to give it a go.
This was going to be my first picture with Painter, well… ermm it didn’t go too well - The interface (which isn’t completely opposite to PS) but regardless, it was just too bizarre to cope with after using PS for so long. I conceded and reverted back to PS CS to finish it off.
Oh wow man this is hot. Man you’re gonna be really good soon. I think you and Deon’s progress was the most I seen off this forum. You guys really got alot better.
SFMC:
Thank you, i think everyone has improved alot!
Mr.Twelve:
You know, i don’t really like my faces either very much. Eyes are definitely not my strongest, i find noses awkward to draw and the mouth - let’s not go there. Then of course are the desired emotions to convey with each facial feature changing dependent on this. Combined together, my faces suck!
I actually prefer PS’s colour sliders, seems easier to navigate to me.
the pose is excellent, the colours are well done, and the white bg complements everything.
things that can be improved:
hair & right sleeve are blowing in the wind, stands to reason that left sleeve (in foreground) should be blowing in the wind too.
foreshortening on hand and forearm (well, the area implied by the sleeve) can be handled better. this one takes time and some solid references though.
her left iris can be made slightly wider.
this one’s compositional… I’m not sure that the weapon held horizontally is such a good idea since it pretty much just alienates the top part of the img. perhaps if it was held at a slight angle?
this truly is your best pic to date.
looking forward to seeing you outdo yourself again in the new year (happy CNY btw)
