The planning sessions for the ANGaming Tournament is almost here and I looking for some feedback. Traditionally AN has featured Anime Fighters [Blazeblue , Guilty Gear, etc] and that won’t change but I want to hear from the community some suggestions & feedback.

I am looking to do some strong changes to the programming this year and I wanted to talk to the community to hear some the feedback.
side note: I know the pricing will come up , that area is something I have no control over, and with the attendance cap its unlikely I will be able to negotiate a special “competitors pass”
Dont’ do a regular open tournament. Do 8 man sit and go tournaments. That way you avoid losing randoms who aren’t there to game and are there for the rest of the convention. 8 man tourney’s are quick, single match double elimination. I’ve seen this done at majors and it is highly successful.
I won’t be at any more AN’s but during my time attending them, I noticed that the majority of players were randoms who would register in the heat of the moment and then fuck off for the rest of the convention, thus skewing your bracket.
In truth running a tournament during an Anime Convention or any other kind of convention won’t work out. A tournament and a convention are two separate beasts competing for each others time and should not be run on the same weekend.
If you’re determined to slug it out then Vince’s idea is best.
You may also want to add a pot fee, something small and not exceeding $5.
This may sound harsh and keep most people away, but it’ll insure that only the serious players will enter and remain in the immediate area to play their next match without delay.
We are going to be at Anime North this year. If you need something contact us directly. We are always happy to help and or give some prize for tournaments.

[]Have you attended the event in the past?
Yes, it was extremely fun when I went at… I think Anime North 2008 or 2009, I believe…
[]If you have attended, what were some of your favorite things about the convention’s gaming section
The extremely large selection of games to play and helpful players. It was even where I was introduced to Melty Blood for the first time.
[]What games do you want to see come back ?
It’d be nice to see TvC, Hokuto no Ken (or BASARA X), DBZ Burst Limit (or Tenkaichi 3 Wii version), along with the usuals (SF games, UMVC3, Brawl, etc.)
[]New additions
Not sure what else could be done to add, since it was perfect last time I went.
Though I do ask, if SFxT, BBCS, and such are available, are they going to be PS3 version or 360?
And yeah, I agree with the 8-man tournament idea that was said above.
