I was talking to my coworker about that show. We were wondering how realistic were the rules since they were aowed to save balls with their foot
They’re realistic. The only thing they kinda bend the rules on is Kagiyama double touches a lot.
I didn’t even notice that.
I’m not sure what you mean? The series that go on for a long time are more the exception and it’s just because those series have a ton of money invested in them to keep it going. And merchandising is a huge part of it. Ippo definitely isn’t as sellable in that sense.
They don’t make it obvious and hide it pretty well. But as I mentioned a few posts up I played volley ball for 5 years. So I noticed it pretty quickly.
Other than that everything that happens in Haikyuu is realistic to the real rules of volley ball. The foot save by Nishinoya actually happens fairly frequently at higher competitive levels. As does Hinata saving it with his face and people crashing through barriers and into the benches to save chance balls.
I havn’t seen Ippo, but sometimes shows go on break to avoid catching up to the source material (otherwise you wind up with pointless filler shit like Naruto and Bleach).
And there’s always the case that producing anime is actually pretty hard and takes time (bless the poor animators working in slave labour type conditions). Outside of the biggest and most popular shows will you rarely see new episodes every week all year around, year end to year end (i.e One piece, Naruto, etc.). It generally takes about 2-3 years to get a season out the door. Most of the time when you hear projects get announced, they’re already well and under way on the shows production for some time now.
EDIT:
Speaking of sports shows there’s a new basketball series airing right now - Ahiru no Sora. Animation isn’t anything to write home about, it’s passable but not anything to level of Kuroko’s (sadly not every studio can be Production I.G lol)
The characters are nice though and it can get pretty nitty gritty into the less obvious technical aspects of the sport while still doing a good job of explaining it to a new comers. It’s less super power stuff and more grounded like Slam Dunk.
The anime has gone on for years and it is cool to see the evolution of animation arch to arch
Champion Road ending on filler though
Hey I’m not the only one who noticed Kagiyama double touches a lot.
I always wished this Manga I used to read got made into a anime. It was a Manga about Street ball, it was one of Tokyo pops first translations. It was pretty fun, the detail they went into peoples techniques and relating it to NBA players was fun. Shit it was based around a random kid who could dunk from the foul line and formed a 3 man team.
I’m always down for more basketball shows. Hell I’m still waiting for last bit of part of Slam Dunk to get animated to this day lol
Best I got is this jank fanmade game recreation lol
As a legit Tennis fan, Prince of Tennis pisses me off. Them mother fuckers be shooting Hadoukens with Tennis rackets lmao.
Snakkeeeuuuuuuu
I love both of those things.
So do I. Kuroko brought the hype and Eye Shield was just genuinely fun. The Winter Cup finals in Kuroko was a bit too much for me though. That got prince of tennis levels of stupid. But man was it fun to watch.
Seirin vs. Too Acedmey in the Winter Cup Semi’s was probably my favorite match in the series. Kagami vs Aomine while they were both in The Zone was fucking beyond hype.
Murasakibara was my favorite character in the series
Hell yes. I even named my dog after Nigo from Kuroko.
My one overall complaint about Kuroko was that every match Seirin won was by one point. I get they were supposed to be the underdogs facing the gauntlet but they should have had moments where they just genuinely used the power of friendship and Kuroko knowing the other Generation members ticks and habits to utterly destroy them. Not catch up in the final hour and barely scrape by. I felt this the most during Murasakibara, Aomine 2 and the winter cup finals.
Every. Match. Was. Won. With. A. One. Point. Lead.
It. Was. Dumb.
I remember watching the Kuroko movie in theaters while I was in Japan a few years back. Shit’s simple enough to work out whats going on without knowing the language and sick animation is universally appreciated anyway. Seeing them all ball out on the same team way in advance and on the same team, such goodness.
EDIT: I learnt to stop expecting any realism outta the show as soon as Midorima showed up and started heaving up full court 3pters like nothing lol. Just shut your shit off and enjoy the animation, cause basketball shows this pretty hardly ever show up at all.
Oh for sure. Same here. But those Winter Cup Finals man. That was a doozy to get through. All that breaking limits, power of friendship, plot armor, plot twists and ex machina’s. Oh, and the schizophrenia’s
Just don’t think about it dawg. Let it unfold and enjoy lol
EDIT:
I mean if these are damn Japanese high schoolers, I’d hate to think what NBA dudes in that universe are capable of lol
Kuroko went off the fucking deep end so hard.
It got so damn funny.
Watching it always had me thinking these dudes got no chill.
