Did HSG come out before or after Komi-San can’t communicate? Cause I get a lot of similar vibes from both. Mainly the mute the thing.
HSG predates it by 5 years (2010 vs 1015). But the mute character isn’t anything new though, its always been around.

Fair enough. I wasn’t assuming it was something new. I just haven’t really watched enough anime to notice the trend. Komi-San just happened to be the first thing that came to mind.
I mean if you’d asked me to list out a number of mute characters off the top of my head, i’d probably be hard pressed to, tbh lol
But i know its not an uncommon thing or atleast it feels that way to me. It works in HSG because they do such great reactions with Akira.

The only other people I can think of beside Ono and Komi is Mitobe from Kuroko no Basuke.

Haikyu is phenomenal my guy. It really clicked with it because I actually played volley ball all through jr high and what I attended of high school.
I’m Tsukki to a T. Lol. I’m also super sad it’s ending after this arc.
Another anime that’s super good and I’m still salty it didn’t get a season 2 is Baby Steps. It’s not on crunchy anymore though. I’m not sure what service it’s on these days.
Days is really good too.
Oh, another sports anime I highly, highly, highly recommend that you’ll want to go deep down the rabbit hole is Dai no Ace (Ace of the Diamond). That is my god damn jam. It’s sooooo good.

I think their all trash because you know exactly how the formula is gonna go. It’s a battle Manga with sports involved. Prince of tennis is the same way. When I say it’s trash I don’t mean that nessisarily in a bad way. It’s not high end stuff it’s a sports anime you know training, tournaments, rag tag team brings it together for the big tournament of the season. It all follows the same formula and I’m a sucker for it all
By that definition basically every show ever is trash.
