Yeah this Super Jump which is basically the manga they aimed at older guys, so this sort of terrible comedy from 80s isn’t that surprising. Especially early Toriyama, I mean Bulma in the early comics or episodes of Dragon Ball was in some situations that would not fly these days given her age at the time.

True, stories like these are more about the spectacles then they are story or character development.
If you are not the main character or a long term bad guy you are likely to get messed over by whatever the series main tool of excitement is. It is usually some sort of humiliation whether violence or sexual or mind breaks.

Summary
If you’re a fan of Retsu, bad news. His character just gets continually screwed until he finally dies gruesomely one day in the ring. That shit isn’t cool.
Also i hope you don’t like Jack Hanma because Pickle has his way with him pretty badly…words don’t describe it. You have to witness the buttrappe Pickle inflicts on Jack yourself. Again, fukk this series! Jack then goes on to lose other fights in utterly humiliating fashion too. As a fan of his character to, it’s hard to see the creator single him out for these horrendous beatdowns.
Edit: Actually, it’s not just that Jack gets treated horribly. The Writer also seemed to write his character to be a complete idiot for these fights. Having him attempt dumb shit NO ONE ELSE would attempt against a superhuman caveman. Whole thing was disgusting. This series is disgusting.
Baki is great, stay mad.

I love Baki but it does fuck the supporting characters over habitually. I legit got mad about what happened to Ali Jr in his character arc. Build up went nowhere

Do you guys know of any good display cases aside from Detolfs? Local Ikea is completely out. I was looking at moducases but they are a little pricey.

Summary
Holy shit! You were right! They tore him down hardcore like he was nothing, put him through the meat grinder. Then hyped him back up again like he had some untapped inner power, instant healing from his injuries, etc. Then fighting Baki just to get brushed aside like an after thought, and focusing on the Yojiro Vs Baki stuff.
See what i mean about this f’ed up show?! It wasn’t enough for Ali Jr to get beatdown savagely once. Oh no, the creator/writer just let loose the piranas on him.
I feel bad for any fans that did like Ali Jr. Only to see the character get singled out to get brutalized savagely. Then when we last see Ali Jr he’s crying like a goddamned baby. Wow, just wow. He wasn’t just beaten horribly, his character & credibility was assassinated.
Now just imagine this happening with Retsu. Only even more brutal, and him dying in the ring like a dog in the end. That’s what Retsu fans have to look forward too with this f’in show…
Like I mentioned in the lounge. Ali went into every fight thinking he had 9-1 match ups in his favor but in reality P2 side wasn’t working the first go around.
