Shinsekai Yori ending was simply beautiful. There is no better way to describe it other than “simply beautiful”. Definitely one of the most underrated shows of the season. Hell, probably of 2012.
Shinsekai Yori 25/finale
[details=Spoiler]I loved how everything wrapped up in the end. I was actually kind of saddened with Kiromaru’s death, but I suppose it was necessary and the only way to kill the Fiend. I felt really bad for Saki when she realized she was responsible for Maria and Mamoru’s child’s death. Short but powerful scene. It was interesting that they wrapped up “the war” in the introduction of the episode, but everything after was well done.
I always had a sinking feeling that queerates were related to humans somehow. I originally thought that the disposed of children were turned into queerats or something. I guess I wasn’t too far off. It was an interesting reveal, but I guess in the grand scheme of things, it didn’t matter too much. It did, however, allow the viewer to sympathize with Squealer, even if he was a piece of shit. His punishment was really, really harsh; even worse that he was subjected to be in a museum as a living display of the war. Saki’s mercy kill of him was very much in character for her. Even after all that, her heart was still so gentle and kind. Great character.
Watching Saki and Satoru signing their marriage vows or whatever they were was extremely cute. I thought it was only a matter of time before the two of them ended up getting together, considering they were the last of their group and already pretty close already.
All around beautiful ending. Everything ended perfectly.[/details]

Fuck man… was looking forward to Mondaijitachi episode 11… only to forget the damn show is only 10 eps and it has ended.
One of the shows I really enjoyed this season. Actually, I think it’s the only show I’m enjoying this season. Others are from last season. But now that they are just about to end… time to find some older series to watch.
anyone know why full metal brotherhood isnt on netflix anymore?
Felt the ending to Psycho Pass was anticlimactic and underwhelming, but I’d say the show was mostly enjoyable throughout. I like the soundtrack too.
Also wasn’t nearly as invested in SSY as Juice was, but it was a good ending. I honestly thought
SSY
that Squealer and the Fiend were going to go much further in their destruction, and that older Saki was narrating the story for her successor in an almost post-apocalyptic world. Destruction, death and suffering seemed to be really common themes for this anime, so…
stay free bros my CC is 43
One minor thing that kinda irked me about SSY was
How they never really got to explain what actually happened to Maria and Mamoru outside of implying that “they died”.
Otherwise, yeah - SSY is definitely worth the watch. Sure there were a few animation issues in a couple of episodes, but overall it turned out well.
Space Brothers 50: I find the show’s at it’s strongest when it develops it’s characters; and this one is no exception with focusing on Nitta and how he’s dealing with this brother Kazuya.
Kinda interesting how much of a contrast Nitta & Kazuya are compared to the Nanba siblings; and how the former’s outlooks on space changed as they grew older. Must have been something serious that kept Kazuya as a NEET. Good on Mutta for trying to help Nitta look for his cellphone, though.
SSY
While I don’t think it was ever stated outright, it was still heavily implied Maria and Mamoru were murdered by Squealer so that he’d be able to abduct their child. He did give in their bones after all. Even if he were able to fashion fakes as close to identically possible as he said he would, I don’t think it’d still be able to pass the DNA test that the council did on them.
The Reflections subtitle makes me think someone in the StrikerS timeline will be reflecting on or recalling the stuff between A’s and StrikerS, but it’s still rather early on in the development so anything could happen and it could mean anything at this point I guess.
Anyway on the A’s movie, I don’t really remember much from the original TV run so I probably won’t be able to do a side-by-side comparison. But from the major plot points that I still remember, everything seems to pretty much play out rather similarly. There’s probably not much that they’ll alter with the transformation sequence to be honest since it’s such a genre stable, but yea with that said I could do without all the underage nudity that comes from it as well lol.
To me, the film feels like more of an action film with the Magical Girls tag tacked on than anything. It’s aerial magical dogfights one after another with some character drama jammed in every so often to break up the pacing a little. The ending felt a little contrived with supporting characters showing up at just the right time with just the right solution, right when the main characters are completely stumped for what the hell to do next. And said solution just so happens to be what the main characters do best, which is blow the living shit outta everything (because ya know, blowing shit up is always the solution to everything). I guess you gotta get everyone’s badass signature attacks in there somehow, and hey what better way than for them to pummel the final boss one after another with it lol
I’m probably coming off a little more jaded than I intended, but whatever I got my quota of Divine Busters and Starlight Shooters so it’s all good lol Cartridges are damn cool as well, which the film kindly reminded me about again. The ending dragged on a little too long for my liking though, especially with the amount of crying that was going on only for the very last scene to undo most if not the entire purpose behind those scenes. A little bit of a cop-out if you ask me, but that’s more of an issue with the writing of the original series and them trying to stay true to the nature of the Nanoha franchise than anything.
i just marathoned psycho pass, it was building up to something amazing, but i too have to agree the ending just felt like nothing at all.

Shinsekai Yori
[details=Spoiler]I too thought it was heavily implied that Squealer murdered Mamoru and Maria after Maria gave birth to the child. What else could it have it been? Given his habitual lying and motives for taking over the world, I thought it was obvious that they were killed by Squealer, especially when DNA and dental records came up as a positive match. There’s no way the queerats’ primative technology could have faked DNA and dental records.
I can only imagine how horrible their final moments were. They probably saw their child being taken away from them shortly after birth and then murdered on the spot. :([/details]
How did the source material end in comparison?
Chihayafuru 2 - 11
Chihayafuru 2 11
Nishida’s comment regarding keeping the same order also serves to call out Komano, who doesn’t seem to want to participate and play and is lacking ‘fight’. Though Kana comes to Komano’s defense, Chihaya says to keep the current roster after reading Komano’s notebook when Taichi hesitates to make the decision as Nishida goes off somewhere. Miyauchi, who happens to overhear the conversation, realizes that she should be more active in her role as Mizusawa’s advisor, in order to take pressure off of Taichi and the other players in regard to roster/lineup stuffs.
Mizusawa is up against Shoyo in the quarter-finals, a team that is from Kyoto, like the Queen, Shinobu. Shoyo pulls ahead early as Nishida makes a note of his opponent being somewhat similar to Shinobu in speed. However, he soon recalls the pre-match overview of Shoyo, via Komano’s notebook, and Nishida recalls some advice from Komano regarding his player matchup, which ends up turning the tide in Nishida’s favor. Kana, Tsukuba, and Chihaya also have similar experiences, remembering Komano’s notes for their individual matchups. Outside in the hall, Sumire has a brief convo with Komano about being on the sidelines rather than playing and Komano takes a short nap afterwards. Chihaya’s reasoning for Komano being benched comes to light as she remembers something that Harada had told her that watching a karuta match is more exhaustive than playing in one. Komano awakens a short time later and Nishida enters the hall saying that Mizusawa has won their match. Nishida then asks if Komano will participate in the next match as it seems that his desire to want to participate and play has been rekindled.
Elsewhere, Arata is writing an apology through an essay as his ‘punishment’ for his actions and though he gets to participate/play in tomorrow’s individual tournament, he forfeits his right/time to watch Chihaya and Taichi play in the team tournament. Prior to Mizusawa’s next match, the team learns that they are up against the Akashi Girls team in the semi-finals, with Hokuo vs Fujisaki as the other match. Little is discerned from Sumire’s notes but Komano manages to extract just enough info on how their (Mizusawa and Akashi) lineups should be for the upcoming match. With the objective to win taking precedence, Chihaya realizes that fact and accepts it, though she would rather want to face Akashi’s strongest player - Megumu, the West representative for last year’s Queen qualifying match. Nishida also makes it a point to mention that to Chihaya that winning is more important at this stage of the tournament. As Taichi thinks about the team order, Retro of Hokuo comes over and mentions that he hopes there is a rematch of the regional tournament between Mizusawa and Hokuo for the right to proclaim who is the stronger team.
The pre-match stuffs for the semi-finals are underway and as the lineup for both teams is read, it seems everything is according to plan as Akashi’s lineup was correctly determined to coincide with Mizusawa’s lineup, with Chihaya facing Megumu. However, both Taichi and Komano realize that Akashi has kept the same order throughout the tournament, saving any possible changes for if/when they faced a strong team, making Komano question if Akashi takes Mizusawa seriously at all.
Kotoura-san - 11
Kotoura 11
The attacker strikes but Muroto shields Yuriko from harm and gets injured in the process. Hiyori tries to stop the attacker but is brushed aside and as Haruka and some onlookers stop by, the attacker flees. At the hospital, Haruka questions her existence and her ability, which seems to cause trouble for her friends. Hiyori says that it isn’t her fault and Haruka realizes that Manabe is worried about her, though he hasn’t been around lately. Haruka goes off somewhere to think about things and she runs into Tsukino, who has Haruka come back to her place to tend to an injury Haruka experienced while being a klutz.
Yuriko apologizes to Muroto for getting him involved, as well as the others, in her selfish plans regarding her mother’s circumstances. Muroto says that he’ll always be by Yuriko’s side. Elsewhere, Manabe and Hiyori are talking and Hiyori confesses her feelings to Manabe and though he states that he loves Haruka, Hiyori is okay with it and tell him to go look for Haruka.
At Tsukino’s place, Haruka learns that Tsukino was bullied as a child and had a bit of a hard life growing up. When Haruka goes to answer her phone, she narrowly avoids an attack from Tsukino (the attacker), whose personality has changed and now showcases malicious intent and hate for the treatment ‘good’ Tsukino got from others. Haruka flees with ‘bad’ Tsukino chasing her to the roof.
Manabe learns that Yuriko and Muroto have their suspicions about Tsukino and he rushes off to find Haruka. Haruka is in a bit of a jam bu Manabe rescues her from being harmed, then she tries to reach out to ‘bad’ Tsukino, saying that there are people out there who want to care and it is enough to makes Tsukino revert to her ‘good side’ as she acknowledges her wrongdoing as the other ESP Society members make their appearance. Tsukino explains her situation to Yama, expecting to berated for her actions, but Yama tells her that he’ll hear her out once she is released. Things are apparently resolved and settled after the incident.

Someone told me there is likely no definitive end just yet. Even MAL doesn’t have an episode count. Expect this show to “never end”. As a result, I’m going to be deleting my Space Bros folder when I’m done cuz it’s going to eat up a ridiculous amount of space.
I’m a little sad the gun doesn’t transform between stun and kill. lol
Anyone else finish Robotics;Notes? Ending was pretty standard nothing particular wrong with it but nothing great as well. Most of the fun watching the show was the build up to the revelation of the mysteries but once all was revealed it fell into dealing with the conflict and it didn’t really do anything special in handling that.
Zetsuen no Tempest is sort of falling into that trap as well now that the big mystery is revealed. At this point, I’m just enjoying the execution of certain scenes and how they’re written and directed. I just like the fact that it draws a lot of references from famous Shakespeare plays and then a lot of the dramatic scenes are presented very similar to a play.

I was hoping for more interaction between Misa and Aki at the end there but nope. Kind of a let down.

Robotics Notes final episode
[details=Spoiler]Personally, I thought there was enough expressed in the episode to show that the relationship between the two were patched up well. There were a few scenes that were enough for me, such as Misa tearing up when Aki told her to look at the robot they built and how they carried on her dream. A few subtle scenes that did a lot for the character development, imo. I can understand wanting a better after math between the two but I don’t think it was absolutely necessary.
Overall, I didn’t mind that last episode at all but it just didn’t leave a big impact on me so I was a bit disappointed in that aspect.[/details]
Yeah true, she did show her signs of her caring about Aki and Kai earlier too which is fine, I just wanted for her to express it in a way that wasn’t suppressed and just 100% her you know. I mean c’mon, she was such a bitch to them the entire show, at least they should have done a little more. I just wasn’t satisfied enough with that.
