Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Fuck you I’m not watching your shitty stream.

A couple that come to mind are The Breaker and Girls of the Wild which is a webcomic. They are both korean comics. The Breaker is about a kid in high school that is trained by an uber martial arts master, and because of that everyone wants a piece of him. Girls of the Wild more lighthearted and is about a male student that’s transfered into a girls only martial arts high school where battles ensue.

But the real question is… are there titties?

Chihayafuru 2 - 09

Chihayafuru 2 09

Spoiler

The meeting between Arata and Shinobu is interesting because he only recognizes her from her ‘alternate form’ during last year’s Queen match and she recalls losing to him a few years ago. During some small talk, Shinobu expresses her dislike of the team karuta tournament, saying that it’s for people/players that don’t love karuta. Shinobu plans to head off to watch the Biwa Birdman Rally after paying her respects at Omi Jingu.

After Mizusawa’s win in their first match, Komano is talking to Taichi (via phone) and reporting his findings on the Fujisaki team, who apparently sent out five Class A players in their first match. One of the Fujisaki players notices that Komano is ‘scouting’ and says to jot down in his notebook that their females are more dangerous than their males. The male then does a weird trick that makes Komano believe that the top karuta players all have peculiar personalities.

Prior to the second match, in the lobby area, Arata sees Chihaya and Taichi off in the distance. An acquaintance of Arata almost makes his presence known but he manages to hide. Chihaya appears to have heard Arata’s voice and wonders if he is there but Taichi tells her that he isn’t and that she should focus on their next match. Arata catches up with Murao where Murao mentions that a team from Fukui is having some trouble and that the individual matches are where the action is. Outside the hall, Arata overhears that a member of Fujioka West (the Fukui team) is unable to make it to the tournament due to traffic and that his team members will be unable to play since they are down a member (there are only three players total). The captain of the team is recognized by Arata and seems to want to ask a favor of the known karuta player from Fukui. As Mizusawa’s next match is about to start, Taichi is thinking about Arata’s possible presence at the team tournament. It is Chihaya that tells him to focus on the match and also says that she wants to show-off the strength of the Mizusawa team, which for some reason interests Tsukuba.

The Fujioka West Team is starting their next match with it’s two members and Arata in disguise, who isn’t sure about the plan but he is asked to go along with it. The team captain explains to Arata that they would have to forfeit the match and opportunity to play without a third player present, with the team already at a disadvantage (three players to the opponents five) and the other team up two wins by default because of the player difference. Things aren’t working out for Arata who not only has his glasses taken off to help with his disguise but he also notices that the official watching the match is someone from Fukui (Nagumo Society), making him unable to play as he would. Various thoughts are in Arata’s mind: the other team members having the experience of playing an actual match, his inability to fight back against his opponent while being watched by the familiar official, and past experiences when he played karuta without glasses. Suddenly, the team captain loses his match and the opposing team realizes that they have secured victory. Knowing that the Fujioka West team has already lost, Arata decides to just play - he puts his glasses back on and goes into ‘serious mode’. Arata makes an incredible comeback and the other player that is left also rallies to win his match. The official takes notice of the skill shown by the certain ‘player’ and realizes that it is indeed Arata. Though Fujioka West loses, Arata recalls something related to his experience with playing karuta, despite the words from both Shinobu and Murao earlier, and remembers that the only team that he really wanted to be a part of was with Chihaya and Taichi.

With the match over, the ruse is discovered by the official who scolds Arata and the Fujioka West team for their actions. The team will be reprimanded and Arata is notified that he may be disqualified and unable to participate in the individual tournament tomorrow. At Lake Biwa, the Birdman Rally is cancelled due to rain and Shinobu finds out that the event will continue tomorrow.

Spoiler

Some detectives are investigating the cause of attacks made against high school girls.

At school, Haruka tells the other ESP society members about the visions she had that prompted the return of her ESP ability. For now, the group decides to keep the news to themselves. However, a rumor starts up among the other students that Haruka knows something but won’t say anything about it due to a fault of Hiyori. Later that evening, Haruka is scared to be left alone so she asks Manabe to stay the night, which excites him for obvious reasons. However, when he leaves for home and later returns, Manabe is greeted by Hiyori, who punishes him for exploiting Haruka for his perverted thoughts.

On the way to school the next day, Manabe gets an earful from Haruka’s grandfather for ‘failing’. The group then encounters the detectives who are investigating the case as they enter the school, but they don’t say anything to the duo. When Haruka has news that her grandfather wants to take the group out to dinner, Hiyori tells her that she won’t be able to attend.

Dinner plans seem to be interesting as the group gets dressed up in formal wear but Haruka’s grandfather takes them to a casual instead. Later, he ends up taking the group to a fancy restaurant in a hotel where the group encounters Haruka’s mother, Kumiko. Kumiko has some words for Haruka, who is unable to tell her mother the good things that have happened to her. Though she initially is unable to say anything, Haruka musters up the courage because her friends are there, though Kumiko says things could still end up how they did before. Manabe introduces himself to Kumiko who doesn’t seem to care for him at all, but when he goes into ‘pervert mode’, Kumiko reacts and knocks him down. The act surprises everyone and though Kumiko leaves shortly afterwards, it appears that she may yet still care for Haruka in some form.

In an alley somewhere, another high school girl is injured and Hiyori’s hands are covered in blood.

Girls of the Wilds is teen harem. I’m reading that shit and there hasn’t been one really exciting fight at all. I’ve been waiting to see the top fighter knock shit up but the only thing we get is her knocking out a thug in one punch and kick. It’s not all that badass because it ends up with the women all overly attached to the fighter-newb protag.

Spoiler

THEY’RE OUT IN THE DESERT! Adventure time, anyone?!

How trash like this is still popular in 2013 makes me weep. Harem storylines are the lowest form of entertainment possible, and anyone who likes them are less than human in my eyes. I’m gonna write a threatening letter to the author and hope he understands english.

Put it through google translator lol I personally love the art style and the artist depicts some mean expressions with the scribbly linework, but after chapter 28, there has been little to no fighting. So much time has been spent on relationships… from there to chapter 81. It’s a week-by-wek comic so it’s not enough to put me off, but fuck me does the writer waste time stalling their readers. Nobody gives a shit about the harem. People started reading this comic because they wanted to see girls kicking ass, especially the top-ranking blonde.

Here’s the gayest part. Every time said blonde is dealing with a conflict, she almost always gets the bypass card and gets to skip the fight. It’s happened so much I’ve just about given up on seeing her fight anymore. The writer trolls its readers there. This other time she knocks out a thug like I mentioned earlier, but then her brother interrupts and tells her to go catch her flight for a business meeting.

:expressionless: yea I’m venting a little.

I doubt it’ll be as fun as you’d expect, though.

Spoiler

Considering how they have Bold tracking their progress and how the quicker you reach first, the better standing your team gets.

No one in Aiki is try to bang Joukyuu, aside from one of the old guys daughters. And even if everyone was trying to be bang him, it would atleast be justified as he’s a martial arts god, and not a useless beta highschool nobody.

Watched the Tiger and Bunny movie and it’s basically a retelling of the anime. The first 30-45 minutes of the movie is the first 2 or so episodes with maybe 20+ minutes of reused footage mixed in with new footage. After the events of those episodes the rest of the movie is all brand new footage. It fills in some gaps that the anime had and focuses on other aspects like Kotetsu’s past. Plus, a lot more Blue Rose fan service.

The end of the movie has a teaser for the second movie (this is going to be a series of movies) and it looks pretty epic with an epic song accompanying it. Sort of gave off a dark knight vibe to it but not as serious as dark knight was.

so wait, what ever happened to there being a 2nd season of T&B?

*Finally watched Mind Game and while it didn’t live up to my expectations it was entertaining nonetheless. The animation was certainly worth the buzz it got years ago and I’m glad it didn’t rely on rotoscoping human faces which it did at first. The story is surreal, the art is like being on a bad acid trip and the characters are fun even if they are shallow. Very fun and energetic movie from Masaaki Yuasa but ultimately not as engrossing as his other works like Tatami Galaxy or Cat Soup. I’ll be definitely checking out more of the directors work (namely Kaiba which I haven’t seen and Kick-Heart).

I’d definitely recommend Mind Game to anyone who loves them some wild animation. If you liked Dead Leaves, Cat Soup, Hells Angels, Gurran Lagann or any other sort of hyper active surreal anime. I give the movie 7.5 out of 10. *

The movies are pretty much the 2nd season of Tiger and Bunny. I think there’s been a recent trend of making movie series/continuations ever since the Kara no Kyoukai’s one came out. Not that I’m complaining though (more like observations rather), cause movies usually turn out pretty bosslike.

MindGame was a little too whacked out for my liking. Sure there was the acid trip factor, but aside from that I couldn’t really take anything else away from it. I mean, while acid tripping is kinda fun at first, it really isn’t enough to carry a whole film by itself I feel… =/

Watched the Joshiraku OVA that just came out and recently found out that both this and Zetsubou Sensei share the same mangaka. Explains why Joshiraku just plain clicked with me. Love both of those series to death.

This MAD also has some damn crazy editing as well.

[details=Spoiler]The entire show is starting to be less fun in general. It’s nearing 50 episodes and he’s still not in space yet. Someone told me this sow’s going to be another one of those long-running shows, and there has been no decided end yet.

That said, I rather see them survive in a desert than go through another dream of thought or character development episode.[/details]

People aren’t trying to bang him because they already have.

Harem denial ass dude. Even the fucking mangaka is in denial so I can’t blame you.

Sun Ken Rock is pretty baller, nice fights, nice art style, and nice titis.
