Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

holy fuck chihayafuru ep6, that shit was hype as fuck, my dam feet went numb, i think i almost forgot to breath, wow what an episode.

Been catching up with Otoyomegatari, so good. I love when manga artist go into absurd detail about the most random things. Shows they did mad research on the topic, feels like I’m learning something! It must take this chick days to do a single page of some of these chapters. Feels good to just sit and read manga till 3 in the morning while listening to sweet jazz. You can’t get that experience with anime.

Chihayafuru 2 06

Spoiler
Chihaya mounts a comeback against Amakasu, surprising the Hokuo captain at the sudden turnaround. Even Sudo notes that Chihaya was/is able to ‘listen/hear’ the sound of the next card(s) read, remarking the growth of her ability, much like Harada does. All of the remaining matches are quite close, even Komano’s rematch against Takuma from last year, but this time Komano has a bit more experience in playing Karuta this time around.

However, a particular situation soon arises: A ‘luck of the draw’ scenario concerning the last remaining cards. Hokuo realizes this and manages to coordinate their card arrangements to their favor (spitting their cards up), which is a tactic of an experienced Karuta playing team. Nishida realizes the situation, but is powerless to say anything to his teammates, but Taichi and Komano catch on. Chihaya is oblivious until it is too late and Hokuo has an advantage going into the final card readings, especially with their one match win lead. Harada notes the situation as well concerning the difference of experience that each team possesses.

Chihaya is undeterred and she begins to take practice swipes at Amakasu’s side of the playing area, prompting Taichi to also takes practice swings against Retro, causing everyone who is watching the match to think that Mizusawa will try to attack to win, compared to Hokuo who only has to defend and not attack. The next card is read and Retro commits a fault much to everyone’s surprise as the pressure gets to him, causing Taichi to win his match and proclaim Mizusawa’s first win. Amakasu is angry that the situation has come to this (Retro’s playing line-up and the pressure to win) and even he begins to take practice swings against Chihaya’s side of the field. The next card is read and Kana is able to defend hers, as is Komano’s opponent, meaning it all comes down to the exchange between Chihaya and Amakasu. Amakasu states that he touched the card first but Chihaya says that they had both touched the card at the same time. The ruling made by the judge states that in the event of a tie, the card would go to the side it is on - in this case, Amakasu. Hokuo wins the Tokyo Regional 3-2 over Mizusawa.

After the spectacular match, Sudo asks Amakasu if Hokuo is the strongest in Tokyo, to which the Hokuo captain says no they aren’t. Sudo then says that Hokuo should prove that they are the strongest at Nationals. After Chihaya awakens from her slumber moment, she proclaims that her match with Amakasu was the most fun that she has ever had, regarding the growth of her ability. Later, the Mizusawa group leaves, the core group going one way, with Tsukuba and Sumire going another. Tsukuba and his brothers ask Harada if they can join the Shiranami Society and Sumire arrives afterwards, making Harada think that the girl will ask to join up as well. Chihaya and Taichi are taking a train back home after they are seen off by Kana, Nishida, and Komano. Later, Chihaya receives a text from Arata asking her if she had fun and Chihaya begins to tear up, with her response being that she had the most fun in the match she played with Amakasu, but also the most painful as well.
Spoiler
Haruka invites the rest of the ESP Society to spend summer vacation at her grandfather’s estate. Things get interesting when the group is dropped off at run-down hospital that was supposedly a psychic research lab and the group explores it, much to Haruka’s dismay. They later find out that the hospital is part of an amusement park called “Haruka Land” that Haruka’s grandfather had created for his granddaughter to celebrate her coming back home with friends.

The next day, the group spends some time at the beach, with some antics happening here and there. Later on, when the group is lighting some fireworks, Haruka is happy to celebrate the event with her new friends. Unbeknownst to the joyful group below, Haruka’s mother makes an appearance nearby.
wangan midnight wasnt that bad…i dunno maybe i love cars too much, but i enjoyed it.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure…bunch of ripped dudes in mid rift shirts lol but the plot is interesting enough to keep me watching I guess.

Deadman Wonderland. You cannot release only a single season of this thing at a time. So unfair making us wait

Watched Gantz on the suggestion by a friend. An interesting plot, but I had to jump to the manga since the anime only ran 20ish eps

Good man, from what I’ve heard the anime is pretty garbage, but the manga is great, one of my favorites. And it’s most likely ending in the next 10 chapters, so it’s a good time to start!

What’s so great about Deadman Wonderland? I’ve only seen like 10min of it.
New chapter of Teppuu out.
It has REALLY interesting characters with really diverese and depth filled backstories. The plot is completely orriginal and it’s the fact that no character is safe in it, at all.

Let’s not forget that every character is batshit insane

Lol, my experience with Deadman wonderland is the complete opposite. Only amusing thing about the show was that white girl. The rest was just terrible, especially the main character. But iirc the manga is better, so you’re better off with that.

Makes me sad that I couldn’t link the “how big are those titties?” video as a response.
The manga is what’s so great about it, the anime just focused more on the whole “crawwwwlling in myyyyy skiinnnn” aspect and ended up coming across as trying too hard to be dark and edgy, add to that cutting key characters so a geko ending was the only way it could go and yeah, just read the manga instead, it’s not the best thing since slicing bread, but it’s decent.
