Questionable writing is being very courteous. I myself laugh at the whole aspect of Shinji being this shit head scaredy cat. But I think a majority of people hate him not for what he was, but for what he brought forth afterwards. Him and Tenchi, jesus…
So now I’m reading below a 3rd grade reading level? I’m trying to be civil here, and you’re resorting to insults instead of good diction. Shinji being a wuss is absolutely not a dumb complaint, because it’s the truth. And it’s as valid a reason for liking or disliking the show as any other. You’re basically taking 1 side and just being super intolerant about others’ opinions. Nobody in this thread who complains about that shit is actually wondering why he is the way he is.
Well, since this is almost as fun as sticking my dick in a blender, I will just let you continue to believe I said things I didn’t say and completely miss the point. deal?
The first 2 movies are more action oriented with less focus on the psychological analysis of the main characters and human relationships that the tv series did. I haven’t seen the 3rd movie yet (waiting on the BD rips) but the first two were very enjoyable with gorgeous animation and cool mech fights.
Man, Zetsuen no Tempest got a whole lot less interesting for me after reaching the climax of the first half of the series. The direction of the story line in the second half loses a lot of the tension and mystery that the first half introduced. The new character is not interesting at all and the developments of the mysteries from the first half is being developed very slowly. I hope it picks up the pace soon.

[details=Spoiler]Ah thanks for doing that because I was thinking about doing the same thing after watching this episode. Pretty much reaffirms what I was thinking but does this mean the series is shifting to end game already? I’m under the impression this is going to be a 25-26 episode series and given the foreshadowing of episode 1 and what’s going on in episode 15 it seems like it’s transitioning into end game rather soon. I’m really interested if we’re hitting the climax of the series soon or if Urobuchi is going to throw a curve ball at us and we get a paradigm shift instead.
So I already called this happening a page or two ago, and basically everyone’s turned the Sibil system upside down with the helmets. The nice twist was when the people revolted against the ones wearing the helmets and further chaos happened.[/details]
Shinsekai Yori 17: I was one ep off, it seems.
Uhg god it’s everywhere.
I’m gone for one day and you kids are arguing about Evangelion. THIS THREAD! TABLE FLIP
So Vivid Operation, as great as it is, pretty much follows the Power Rangers formula.
Some kind of underlying emotional issue, a bit of antics…then as it comes to a head, they are attacked by a giant monster. They transform, fight it for a bit, then Rita (or the black ranger) comes in and powers it up with an arrow, making it a bigger giant monster. The girls form a lesbian megazord and defeat it in one shot.
So I’m wondering if the final episode is going to be the “vivid red” megazord, When the Black and Red Ranger docks (because obviously, black ranger is going to become a good guy once they see eye to eye, much like Fate Testerossa or the Green Ranger) , or if all of them are going to become vivid white or something…which kind of doesn’t make sense since red, blue yellow, green and black don’t make white…but it is the official color of anime virginity. Maybe Gold.
…Now I want to make a anime themed box of crayons with names like “Summer Dress White” “Hymen Splatter Red” , “Boy you like walked in on you bathing deep pink” … “Peanut butter nipple”
Yes yes, it’s much easier to insult people than try to understand them. Well I tried haha, but ok I’m also done.
*So these are the gates that bringing up “new vs old anime” opens. *
It’s 20 something episodes. I’m sure the ending isn’t near despite what it seems like. They’ll probably climb up a mountain and be kicked off a couple hundred feet first.

While the Wataya family is visiting their family grave, Arata is reminded by his parents about his friends in Tokyo who are participating in the high school regional championship. Though his father pokes fun about Arata being out of contact with them via phone/text/email, Arata recalls when Chihaya said that they are connected - not by just phone but by something deeper from when they played karuta together. Arata then asks something of his parents should he be able to win the national championship.
Dr. Harada is on his way to watch the semi-finals and the topic of Taichi’s ‘bad luck’ comes up from observations by other Shiranami Society members. After he meets up with the Mizusawa Karuta Club, Harada points out that their opponent in the semi-finals is the enthusiastic Homei Karuta Club, led by Tsuboguchi, the ‘ace’ of the Shiranami Society who had participated in the Master match last year. Prior to the match, Taichi receives some good luck charms from the female Shiranami Society members, but for some reason he has trouble discerning a strategy for his team’s line-up against Homei. Harada offers Taichi some advice, “An individual match is a team match, and a team match is an individual match."
Mizusawa and Homei face off and Tsuboguchi has a strategy in play even before the match begins - fluster Chihaya to get Taichi off his game. Taichi recognizes the ‘dirty’ trick as a Homei male compliments Chihaya, flustering her and making Taichi aware in the process. The match officially begins and the speaker throws off the timing the players have with the off-rhythm in how he reads, which is noticed by Harada and annoys Kana. Tsuboguchi’s male pupil tries to make the same compliment play against Chihaya but this time it isn’t effective as Chihaya is now in her ‘focused’ playing mode. Taichi’s opponent, though she has strange playing style, takes an early lead, which frustrates Taichi. A malfunctioning air conditioning unit over the Mizusawa players seems to compound problems even more as it is quite hot, causing the players to perspire.
Taichi is continually (over)thinking his individual match, which causes his focus and play to suffer, making him doubt his ability and talent. The temperature is becoming more unbearable and Taichi asks for a towel to wipe his brow, which prompts the females watching the match (Shiranami members, Kana’s mom, Sumire) to throw him some towels and even Chihaya offers him a towel at that moment, which Taichi takes. After collecting himself (and his thoughts), Taichi begins to focus and manages to mount a comeback against the female Homei player and even takes the lead. Sumire, who at first seems to be bored just watching the match (while thinking about the friendship/relationship that Chihaya and Taichi have), is inspired to do something for the team by scouting the other semi-final match, realizing that she is part of the Mizusawa Karuta Club. Meanwhile, the match between Taichi and Sasa (of Homei) is close, but Taichi manages to take the victory for his team in the end.
Having won their match, Mizusawa goes on to challenge Hokuo in the finals.

It’s been about one week since Haruka’s departure/disappearance and things seem to be back to normal in school, prior to Haruka’s attendance. Manabe looks to be back to his old self, but for some reason, Hiyori seems to think otherwise. At the ESP Society clubroom, Manabe apparently seems to have given up looking for Haruka (though he made the effort to look), but Yuriko badgers him to resume his efforts, which causes Manabe to renew his resolve but for a different reason - he wants to punish Haruka for making him worry by spanking her. With Muroto’s help, the trio has a lead on Haruka and goes off to chase her down.
The search for Haruka brings the trio to a small town. After being put up for the night at a temple by a monk, the ESP Society members learn that the monk knows Haruka from her younger days and that he can take them to where Haruka is the next day. At her grandfather’s estate, Haruka has to put up with her odd grandpa, who happens to be like Manabe in that they have certain ‘ecchi’ thoughts at Haruka’s expense. Later on, Haruka looks for her grandpa, who is meeting with the ESP trio and challenging Manabe’s thought processes. She sees her friends who have a bevy of questions for her but Haruka flees before they can ask her anything. The trio splits up and Haruka happens to be in hiding near Manabe and she overhears his thoughts where he apologizes in his efforts for not protecting Haruka and that he wants to be by her side. Haruka realizes that Manabe really cares for her, moving her to tears and causing her to appear from her hiding place. However, Haruka gets a glimpse of another thought where Manabe wants to punish her by means of spanking, which then allows Yuriko and Muroto to surprise Haruka who isn’t able to run off again.
The ESP group is reunited in full and Haruka explains that her departure was her way of fixing things for Manabe who had gotten hurt before running off again. Manabe chases after Haruka and finds her in front of the family estate, where Hiyori suddenly appears and says that she went looking for Haruka in order to apologize for how she had treated her. Hiyori is surprised to see Manabe there but she also takes the time to apologize to him regarding the accident. The girls have a bonding moment, with Hiyori having a change of heart and attitude because of Haruka.

Yeesh, this episode was tense as hell. Almost makes you feel that you’re the one losing the oxygen, not Hibito. That said, the spirit of Brian lives on as we see a flashback of how Hibito meet with the astronaut and how his similarly named craft was the ticket in saving Hibito’s life. Well done episode, overall.[/details]
Holy fuck episode 17 of Magi was amazing. Granted, I’ve seen a similar series of events play out in other animes; however, the character development within the last few episodes of Magi was really strong and it built up to an incredibly executed episode that was very emotional.
For the first major arc of the series it was a really well done conclusion but gave just enough to foreshadow future events. I hope this is a long running series but considering the manga is still ongoing I’m not sure how far they’ll get before they either end it as a season or pad it out with fillers.
That Captain Harlock trailer is super old. Like, 6+ months old. I thought it was a new one
But yeah, the CG stuff have potential. Now, if only we good get good/better writers, we’d be golden. Appleseed was decent, but Tekken…

Funny, yet great review on SAO I found. Pretty much my score on the series so far. It was overhyped by the fans, yet not as bad as haters claim it to be
Sure, I’ll humor you.
I now get Hulu plus free so I started watching Psycho Pass after seeing you guys call it Minority Report (my favorite Spielberg pic). GDLK pilot, it was very entertaining, I loooove the art style, and it did a good job conveying the strengths and weaknesses of the psycho pass system In 1 episode a lot of questions about the psycho pass and society are raised.
You’re throwing me off with that new avatar
The funny thing is that id didn’t compare PP with MR as a compliment (I found all the MR setting incredibly stupid TBH)
