Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Lol, somebody is angry. Ask yourself why would my innocuous post cause you to become so apprehensive?

No really ask yourself. People complain all the time, and normal people ignore them, however that is not the route you chose.

Instead you decided to call me a dipshit, and lord knows what else in your mind lol. Like I really put words in somebodies mouth lol. Fucking niggas is wild in here. I should pay a troop of girl scouts to whip you into shape so you wont lose your composure so easily.

The drama in Kotaru-San is so forced I end up laughing instead of feeling sympathy for the main lead. Kid who hangs out with her is pretty funny tho. Will watch a bit more but if the forced drama keeps up I’m gonna have to drop it.

Everyone is just tired of the same old shit coming up again and again. Anime sucks. The end.

1980s: "waaaaah there’s too much sci-fi"
2010s: “waaaaah there’s too much moe”

*The question isn’t about the perceived quality of yearly releases but variety produced yearly. Everyone knows industries especially those that belong to a entertainment medium goes through trends weather it’s stylistically, delivery method or consumer demand. But it’s also no small secret that the anime industry experience a boon circa 2001-2006. More consumers were buying anime during that period and studios were taking more chances because of bigger audiences willing to spend money. A prosperous industry leads to more adventurous endeavors because you aren’t worried (as much) about your product failing and your company going bankrupt. *

The anime bubble collapsed around 2006 partly because of free, quality, quick fansubs being a good alternative to buying the licensed product at big prices (a hundred bucks-ish for 2-3 episode dvds in japan and $100+ for a complete or seasonal boxed set in NA/EU). Companies were hemorrhaging money because they couldn’t compete with free. Production companies started taking less chances and went where the money is: A niche market who’s willing to spend copious amounts of yen on dvds and character goods. It just so happened to be the moe/cute and mech fans (mostly but not exclusively) that were the ones still buying their choice of product(s). It could have easily been some other corner of the fandom that were still supporting the industry and buying goods at rediculous prices.

The worldwide recession also doesn’t help matters seeing as it forces everyone to play it safe by becoming risk aversive and have their bottom line be to make money. Just like Hollywood mashing out remakes and sequels because those are the surer bets. Or the mainstream Video Game industry pumping out sepia colored fps #7,103 and Uncharted clone #532 ad* nauseum because that’s what people are buying and production costs have inflated to enormous (10 million dollars as the entry point for developing “AAA titles”) amounts. It’s come to the point where industries are in a position where they can’t fail and have to play it safe. *

clearly no one is tired of it because here you all are, talking about it!

also, the only people who liked this posts are the weaboo’s who know what a “shimapan” is.

Lol, I don’t know what a shimapan is, I just liked because he mentioned my girl. Which in turn pisses off half of these pillow fucking faggots.

I have a question to the people who keeps complaining of the current anime
Do you read manga?

That reminds me I need to catch up on Berserk.

I remember someone showed me a clip of I think her name was Makoto fighting some dude on a ladder and I was like “this shit is boss, is every episode like this?”

And she said “no”.

So I walked away.

If every episode was this short haired tomboy drop kicking people I would watch it, but I know what this show really is.

Space Brothers 42

Spoiler

If A1 is trying to establish the anguish of Hibito trying to race the clock to find a way out of his and Damian’s predicaments, then they sure are doing a good job with it. Mutta’s trust in his brother seems pretty strong; as seen in the flashback. As for Damian, he doesn’t look too good; so his odds for survival seem rather slim. Who knows, though. That spacesuit of Brain Jay that Hibito might be the ticket to help them out; but the preview reaallly doesn’t help and is keeping one anxious for next week.

Idolmaster and Berserk go hand in hand perfectly.
Shit i still gotta watch the 2nd Berserk movie too. GRIFFFFIIITHH!!!

Perfect Idolmaster character.

No one cares. I don’t mean to sound like a dick (I kinda do, it’s my thing around here), but no one really cares. Like I said earlier, anime sucks. Doesn’t matter what your taste may be. Most anime is fucking shitty and unoriginal. You probably get only one or two shows/series a year that are unique and actually do something original and compelling (Psycho-Pass for example).

It’s more like some newfag comes in here, says the same tired boring shit about how anime used to be da bes <insert time of childhood memories here>, everyone groans, and tells him anime has always sucked and to shut up.

>has anime/manga avatar >calls people weeaboos (that’s how you spell it, btw)

Your level of troll too stronk. Also, a lot of my faggoty type posts like that are self-parody.

Speaking of shimapan:

So I go down to SoCal Regionals and stay with my friends in Long Beach, a husband and wife. He’s not a big anime guy but his wife likes a lot of old anime like Sailor Moon and shit. Both of them are sick with the latter bed ridden with a fever. When I arrive, I meet my friend (the husband). We say what’s up and stuff. Later he tells his wife told him to ask me “Did you bring any shimapan? And if you didn’t, go back to NorCal.” I laughed and just said “Yeah, I brought a lot.” A couple days later when my friend is bed ridden with the fever and the wife is actually alive again, we had a good laugh at SCR because my friend/her husband has no fucking clue what shimapan is.

Well it’s like it’s been previously said
Anime has always been filled with cute girls and moe and whatnot. It’s just that most of you grew up in a time where we were only exposed to American approved anime(Samurai Pizza cats, Saint Seiya, etc)
Now that you actually have the liberty of looking up anime you notice that most of it is not actually to your liking.
In essence, it’s kind of like you never really liked anime to begin with.

Personally I’m able to enjoy a very large variety of things.
I can watch a show like Kaiba or Freedom mainly for the interesting story and characters
I can watch a show like School Rumble or Golden Boy purely for the comedic value
I can watch a show like Milky Holmes purely for the cute girls
I can watch a show like Hellsing or FLCL purely for the animation glory

I think the key to enjoying things in any medium is to have a colorful palette.

Juice, confirmed as shimapan user. Closet Hideyoshi status unveiled.

EDIT: Yus, Jojo 16 is done downloading. The fabulous ripple begins~

shimapan isn’t sexy. it’s just striped underwear.

*No offense taken. I don’t agree that most anime is shitty (or mundane as you’re probably alluding to) in any one time period but I do feel like it’s been a noticable dropoff in different offerings in the past couple of years. With that said I do ultimately think the truth lies somewhere in between both statements of “It’s been a dropoff” and “It’s more or less the same amount of exemplary titles per year”. I agree with the point Doritos & Sprite made (which was my next point I was going to make) in that newer fanship have the entire backlog of anime to cherry pick the creme del la creme which leads to a skewed perception on variety of any given year/era. *

I have a manga avatar you Plebeian. Nothing remotely weeeeaboo about manga. I would go so far as to say, to have a manga avatar is to look down on those with anime avatars. Look at that guy, he knows whats up.
