Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Both shows (Bebop and Champloo) wrapped up fairly well and were self-contained, there’s really nothing left to finish and isn’t exactly in need of a sequel other than " because we want more".

“Because We Want More” fans are silly. Animate their favourite characters doing anything and they’ll eat that ish up.

Hmmm some blasphemy is going on around these parts…

Saying something’s are best left without a sequel is like saying Star Wars should have ended with new hope…behop and samurai need to conclude properly and we need true closure.

Fuck this thread time to watch more DotA 2.

Dragonball GT would like to have a word with you.

People want to move on to other projects too. I can’t imagine doing exact same show over and over and over for a period of years. Cowboy Bebop ended and that should be that. People were never gonna be satisfied with the ending anyway

The only anime I have a serious “I want more” thing about is Shamanic Princess, and since that’s never happening all y’all can eat a dick

That’s a fucking lame ass excuse and we all know it. If creators don’t want people bitching about sequels then finish things off with good resolutions cause I’m not happy at all with how behop ended.

Imagine if Hercules story ended on just 1 labour…sometimes shit needs proper ending and resolutions. I think the fans deserve some closure and I don’t give a crap about his new projects until he finishes off behop first.

Jesus christ Corpse Party with 100% subtlety in its horror and 100% not stupid. I loved how they always did the smart thing, and how they acted like completely normal human beings in that situation. I also loved how genuine that friendship was. Rip a piece of paper and friends forever. That genius symbolism that’s totally not overused and wasn’t stupid to begin with. Totally not a lazy cop out. Loved how not generic all of the main characters are and how you just can’t pick out which anime stereotype they are just by looking at them. Also loved just how mature it was by totally not inputting fan-service on underage girls whenever they can in absolutely appropriate scenes.

10/10, would shit again.

[]Flashback to the first encounter between Akadama and Benten (formerly Satomi Suzuki). The cute, country girl was ‘spirited away’ by Akadama and was given a tengu education, who then rose up to the top and left the tengu professor behind.
[
]Yodogawa joins Benten and Yasaburo on the rooftops and the trio travels from roof-to-roof until they reach a rooftop park area, where he recalls his first meeting with Benten at a hot pot year-end party with the Friday Fellows, which Benten had newly joined.
[]After Benten leaves, Yodogawa and Yasaburo engage in some talk about various things, with the professor explaining his ideals about the subject(s) of eating and life. The subject becomes a bit interesting when Yodogawa talks about wanting to be eaten by tanuki instead of just dying, but he worries he would taste bad.
[
]Yodogawa recalls a conversation with the Shimogamo patriarch, Soichiro, who was to be feasted upon via hot pot at a Friday Fellows year-end party. The conversation ends somewhat abruptly when Benten, who is sleeping nearby, awakens.
[]The pair eventually finds their way off the rooftops and return to street-level via a ladder. Yasaburo notices Kaisei has helped him out and thanks her for her assistance.
[
]After Yodogawa leaves in a taxi, Yasaburo goes to visit Yajiro in the well, where he tells the older brother about his thoughts after having talked with Yodogawa about various things. Elsewhere, Yaichiro and Soun Ebisugawa are participating in campaigns on who should be elected the next Nise-emon. Later, Benten stops by the well and cries silently, her tears falling below into the well water and onto the 2nd and 3rd Shimogamo brothers.

  • The first encounter between Akadama and Benten was… interesting. Mainly because of Akadama’s actions, lol.
  • Rooftop park area scene was quite colorful and picturesque, with the leaves falling from the autumn-season trees.
  • “Benten’s Early Exit” is apparently a theme of sorts.
  • Who wouldn’t trip out if a tanuki suddenly started talking to them besides having a convo with one?
  • Kaisei keeping tabs on Yasaburo? Probably because of Benten, lol.
  • Yasaburo seems to get along well with people who enjoy tanuki hot pots.
  • How would Benten react if Yasaburo told her that he saw her crying?

[]Ai arrives at the tower just in time to see Ulla, who is unbound from her restraints, take the lives of the group of people via her ability/power, who become dead much like the citizens of Ortus. Ai nearly shares their fate as Ulla glances toward her direction, but she is saved by Yuri. Afterwards, Ai learns from the lion-masked man that the dark secret of Ortus is Ulla, who is the Idol of Murder: Her gaze, speech, and touch, bring about death to the living.
[
]The lion-masked man goes on to share his experience with Ulla: he had his life taken away just a year ago. Children of immigrants to Ortus live until the age of fifteen, then they have to make a choice of whether they want to continue living as a dead person in Ortus, or leave the city/country.
[]Ai tries to reason that despite Ulla having powers of death, that she is unaware of her surroundings in regard to the living and dead, a situation that she herself had some experience with. Kiriko appears and tells Ai his POV regarding Ulla’s existence and his reasoning: a world in which everyone is dead and Ulla’s ‘death’ power wouldn’t matter anymore. Ai responds with a rebuttal, recalling the words of her father, Hampnie Humbart, of a situation being the last human, alive and alone after all others have gone before them. Back at the inn, Scar suddenly awakens from her slumber.
[
]Ai meets with Ulla to tell her the truth about everything, with Kiriko arriving a short time afterwards. However, Ulla reveals that she somewhat knew of the situation herself and was okay to go along with it, even if it was a plan to deceive her, besides sharing her feelings on the matter.
[]Ulla (along with Kiriko) takes Ai, who meets up with Yuri and Scar, to see Celica, Ulla’s older sister, who is currently a sleeping baby. Kiriko explains that Celica and Ulla are twins and that their mother had made a strong wish regarding death: a wish that Ulla accepted, but Celica rejected.
[
]Scar steps forward and Celica reacts to her, crying out after awaking from her slumber, the Gravekeeper saying that Celica was the one calling out to her and proclaiming that the child is her own. Ulla asks Scar to look after her sister. As the group departs from Ortus and resumes their journey, a red-haired young man and a ghost(?) observe the group from a cliff above.

  • Ulla’s death powers via sight appear to have an effective range. It would’ve been interesting to see the other methods (speech, touch) used as well. No suffering and pain either.
  • The ideals between the living and non-living are quite interesting, especially after the Ortus arc.
  • Scar and Celica… What is going on?

my internet goes out for 1 day and this is the shit i was eagerly awaiting to come back to? why the hell would you want more bebop and shamploo? they ended so well, wouldnt you feel a lesser value about the show if there was more?

Actually really interested in CP; I’ve been looking for another Horror anime after reading/watching all of Junji Ito’s works.

good luck with that because most of the animes taking over japans channels mostly involve loli’s

The Corpse Party game on PSP was really good though. Most of the horror depended on sound effects and voice work because almost everything was done in 16-bit sprite animation. Your characters had zero offensive capabilities and there were a lot of things that could chase and OHKO you. When you combine that with doors suddenly getting locked and things falling all over the place to impede your progress it gets pretty tense at times.

There are corpses everywhere and the gruesome text descriptions along with SNES graphical depictions are a nice touch. The main weakness is that you have to accept that there are some supernatural influences at work (like Higurashi). I haven’t seen the anime yet, but I think a lot of the suspense would be lost in the transition.

This Attack on Titan manga is ridiculous. Just got to a big reveal that was just totally random with no build up.

EDIT: Oh shit, we jujitsu now! All that’s missing is commentary.

Finished the Sanctuary saga. Illest fights were Shaka vs. Phoenix and Dragon vs. Capricorn Ex-CALIBUR Shura

Damn @Kromo bribing them animu overlords in Japan.

Lol the ending of this C3 beach episode just reminded me of that Bernhard Goetz case. Shit is circular yo.

Lil Wayne needs his own anime

It’s a decent series, though. Give it a try.
