Anime & Manga Thread v.5 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Welcome to 2017

Well, I mean, it was a massive letdown, but I managed to get through it without any strong misgivings. Probably due to not having any expectations in the first place.

I think anything that actually leads SnK into being style over substance is purely the anime’s fault at that point.

Highschool DxD (NEW)…

It’s not quite actually good, but if it just tried a little bit harder…

I mean, I’ve watched much worse things with zero tits in them.

This is what I mean.

The style is from the substance, big difference. It’s like comparing national geographic to vogue.

What are you talking about?
Lolicon is the only thing supporting the anime industry. There would be literally, no Japanese cartoons if people didn’t like looking at stylized 14 year olds.
Thus, lolicon is the noblest of anime. Schoolgirls are justice.

He needs E cups. Pffft!! G cup is where it’s at brah!

I think my only problem with Titan is how the author at some point thought that “add more questions without answering previous questions” for 47 chapters in a row was a good way to tell a story.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind stories filled with mysteries. But when you pile on mystery after mystery without actually answering any of the previous ones, it leaves less and less time for them all to get answered and you end up crunching it all into a 3 hour cutscene where Big Boss tells you that Naomi told him about FOXDIE while he was in a coma.

Not to mention it doesn’t feel like there’s any progress. 47 chapters later and I still know just as much about the world of SnK as I did in the first volume.

i am sure and certain that a shamo anime could be as successful as death note and blade of the immortal was… it’s dramatic, controversial and action packed enough, the live action movie adaptation was pretty convincing so i am positive that a season or two would be welcomed and apreciated…

It’s like the author is still deciding on how to make some sort of grand reveal.

to be honest before I reached it, I was totally expecting it to be the climax and shit would come down right after. It still hasn’t done that yet.

Still watching DogXScissors, still cannot describe that show in words

No, this is the problem with monthly non shounen manga in general, has nothing to do with SnK specifically. People seem to forget, while the manga is 47 chapters long, not much has actually happened, time wise. I would say a total of 3 or so days have passed in the span of 20 some chapters. So while it seems like nothing it’s being explained, that really can’t be helped when

Barely any time has passed since they got back from beyond the wall, even though we have been reading it for a year+.

So stuff keeps piling up but it can’t really be helped as it’s been a pretty eventful few days. Can’t rush it.

Same thing is happening with Vinland Saga, errr, Farmland Saga. They’ve been on Farmland Saga for years butin the manga not that much time has even passed post prologue. It’s hella annoying, but what can you do, but bitch on the internet of course.

I’m getting the feeling after reading AoT manga…

[]Yasaburo invites Akadama to come along with the Shimogamo family leisure cruise on the night of the Gozan Fire Festival, though Akadama appears uninterested in attending, However, Akadama appears that evening and ends up tagging along for the leisure cruise.
[
]As the festivities start aboard the now-airborne Shimogamo cruiser, the Ebisugawa family shows up in grand fashion with a large sea-faring ship that is fully decked out. The patriarch of the Ebisugawa, Soun, is present. As are Ginkaku and Kinkaku, who ‘taunt’ Yasaburo about a past event in which the Shimogamo family leisure cruiser, the Manpukumaru, was destroyed because of fireworks. While Yaichiro tries to calm Yasaburo down, another tengu elder stops by the Shimogamo cruiser, the appearance being a bit of a ‘disappointment’ for Akadama.
[]The topic of the “False Nyoigatake Incident” comes up, along with some stuff about Souichiro (the Shimogamo patriarch), who was in the role of Nise-emon, a chief official that was keeping the peace of the tanuki society in Kyoto - a position that Yaichiro is apparently going out for. The incident stems from a conflict between two groups of tengu, particularly, Yakushibo (then/past Akadama) and the Kurama tengu. A bit of back-and-forth goes on between the two, until Souichiro steps in and helps out Yakushibo get some payback against the Kurama tengu.
[
]Fireworks commence from the Ebisugawa ship and Yasaburo spots Benten among them. The news of her appearance frustrates/angers Akadama who wants to know why Benten isn’t with him at this moment. More fireworks go off, but they appear to threaten the Shimogamo leisure cruiser, causing the Shimogamo to take some countermeasures with some fireworks of their own, but not before Benten flies out to a better vantage point/safety. The ‘fight’ is brief, until the Ebisugawa manage to fire a chain anchor into the Shimogamo leisure cruiser and reel it in for one last/final fireworks barrage/flourish. As things are looking dire for the Shimogamo, the eyes of Yasaburo and Benten meet, with Benten guiding Yasaburo to a ‘gift’ onboard Akadama’s leisure cruiser - the Fujin Raijin folding fan.
[]The Ebisugawa (namely Ginkaku and Kinkaku) are about to have the last laugh, but Yasaburo steps forward and after he shares some ideals related to tanuki life, he unleashes the power of the Fujin Raijin folding fan and sends the Ebisugawa flying and their ship crashing onto a nearby mountaintop. Benten had already left before the blow was struck.
[
]Though the Shimogamo prevail, the leisure cruiser tea-house is in shambles and barely able to maintain flight. As the family scrambles to find some alcohol to use a fuel, the last and precious fluid amounts are found and drunk by Akadama, who gives a speech about alcohol and his standing as a tengu to all who would listen, as the broken-down leisure cruiser goes crashing down to the ground below.
[*]Only Yasaburo and Akadama are amidst the wreckage, as the other tengu elder had rescued Mother, Yaichiro, and Yashiro. However, Yasaburo realizes that something is amiss - the Fujin Raijin folding fan is nowhere to be found. Thoughts of being punished by Benten via hot pot stuffs, makes Yasaburo take off running and go into hiding from Benten, from the latter part of summer to early fall.

  • Yo, I would show up for chirashizushi and alcohol, lol.
  • There’s Mother with the entrance… and the various poses?
  • The brief convo between Yasaburo and Akadama when they met up, was amusing, considering the circumstances.
  • lol @ Akadama’s expressions regarding wanting some alcohol. That, and him asking if/when Benten will show up.
  • Damn, the Ebisugawa’s showed up in full effect there with that grand ship of theirs. Ginkaku and Kinkaku starting some shit too…
  • Yakushibo is like IDGAF at the meeting with the Kurama tengu, who stay hating on him pretty hard, lol.
  • Yaichiro is like, “I’m gonna go with whatever Mother and Yasaburo are doing.”
  • Ginkaku and Kinkaku are still mad about the earlier confrontation with Yaichiro, lol.
  • Rivalry is one thing, but it was nice to see family come together to accomplish a goal
  • Both Yasaburo and Akadama had some fun moments with their dialogue in their respective speech scenes.
  • Benten had like a total of one line over the course of the episode, but her presence and actions alone speaks volumes.

[]After the trio of Ai, Yuri, and Scar get an old van running and set out on a journey to see/save the world, Scar tells the others that there happens to be a young man who is sleeping in the backseat behind her. The young man awakens and introduces himself as Kiriko, who is an apprentice at an Ortus office.
[
]Though Ai is interested in seeing Ortus, she learns from Kiriko that Ortus is a city/country of the dead, after Scar notes that there are around one million dead people in the direction they are heading towards. On the way to Ortus, Ai sees a graveyard of sorts that marks the final resting place of killed Gravekeepers - who are hated by the dead people of Ortus.
[]Upon approaching an entry gate of particular significance, Kiriko tells Ai about the guardian deity of Ortus - a goddess that watches over all the dead inhabitants of Ortus. As Kiriko is working on gaining admittance for Ai’s group (into an area for living persons), he is greeted/welcomed back by a ‘unique’ person that is composed of a female half named Fox and a male half named Rex.
[
]After Ai exchanges pleasantries with Fox and Rex, she asks if she can enter the city/country proper, to which her request is granted. Though Yuri advises against the action, Ai says that she wants to see Ortus for her own eyes; a place where the dead live normally, something that was her mother’s dream and had tried to create on her own. Yuri resolves to accompany her. Scar apparently wants to check things out as well, as a ‘voice’ calls out to her from within the city.
[]Ai awakens the next day and gets her first glimpse of the Ortus interior landscape during the daytime. Scar is apparently under the weather as the voice she hears continues to call out to her. After turned down by Scar to take care of her in her ‘sick’ condition and being told by Yuri’s message to not go outside (while he gets the van fixed), Ai is a bit depressed, but she ends up going into town on her own after having a small talk with the manager of the inn that the group is at. Kiriko is apparently busy and meeting with the princess of Ortus.
[
]While wearing a mask, Ai explores the town on her own. Later, Ai has an encounter with a man that is wearing a lion mask, who tells her to leave Ortus and warns her about Ortus’ dark side. Elsewhere, Kiriko is talking to a girl named Urla, who is silent.

  • Ai is on a field-trip/journey to save the world that God abandoned… as she travels in a van with Yuri and Scar.
  • Kiriko is challenging Lucy from Servant x Service for longest first name stuffs.
  • Ai with stars in her eyes made me think of Fuko from Clannad.
  • That Gravekeeper grave site was an interesting sight to see.
  • Most awkward handshakes ever between Ai and Fox/Rex.
  • Doujins are probably in the works after the introduction of Fox/Rex, lol.
  • I hope nothing happens to Scar.
  • The vibe/atmosphere of the town (festival-like and mask stuffs) is interesting, but could likely be hiding something (Ortus’ dark side?).
  • That titled play of the goddess and the princess sounds somewhat ominous.

“Submissive male fantasy.”

Guy, who is obsessed with books gets shot and reincarnated as a dog. Author who he was madly obsessed with adopts him because she can hear his thoughts. She is beautiful and rich but flat chested, and thus a sadist. They go on wacky adventures together. There are stock characters like her editor who is a masochist, the guy’s little sister who is a yandere and a rival author who is also an idol.

Judging by your understanding of anime like this i am pretty sure you can give an accurate description on exactly how its going to end.

I see 3 possible endings

Either 10 episodes of wacky semi serious antics (I mean, they are looking for a guy who murdered the main character, and the main character’s sister obsession goes well beyond goofy and into the “nightmare” category), they are given one final mystery to solve, presumably involving his murderer. Whats-her-face finds out she is partially responsible for his death and goes into a guilt spiral (end of episode 11). Motivational things are said, and they enlist the help of the various characters of the show to overcome whatever. Guy continues to live on as dog and girl continues to threaten to cut him

No serious ending, various loose ends of the story danced around and a pseudo harem forever ending. Guy continues to be her bitch.

3,
The issue of “I can’t die until I read lust” is brought to a head when, realizing she is keeping him from death, she makes a concentrated push to write the book (episode 10 or 11). When it fails she realizes that she doesn’t want him to leave and had subconsciously subverted her attempt to actually write the book. Motivational things are said. She finishes the book and he either A, reads it and decides its not that good (dramatic build up gag) or B, loves it but decides he loves her too much to leave. Either way nothing really changes, he continues to be her bitch.

I suppose its possible he’ll regain his humanity, but I don’t think he’ll ever be a man.

Anyway
Finally got around to watching the Uncensored School Days H Scenes and they are actually pretty bad. Like, I worry about a lot of anime, that they aren’t putting the time and effort into drawing genitals…this shows the terrible consequences of that. I felt, at some point, one of the artists was like “should I draw some veins on this tube?” ad the other guy was like “no, just color the top half bright pink, nobody is ever going to see it without a mosaic anyway”. To boot, the animation is subpar, Makoto’s voice actor is terrible because he is trying to emulate a female voice actress doing a male voice and the foley is terrible. Like really, that is what passes for a bath sound? Some guy dipping his hand in a glass of water?

I wonder if there is any money to be made as a hentai foley artist. Like, cause they use the same cornstarch on leather sound for everything. How hard would it be to buy a couple of pork chops and slap them together in front of a microphone?

You guys know you want this.

Why can’t I find Sunday Without God on tokyotosho?
