Anime & Manga Thread v.4 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Thread over. Move onto v.5

Episode 21 of Hanasaku Iroha does what shows like Ano hana completely missed. You get rid of boring, emotion scenes where people vent their grievances in favor of exiting bath scenes where people air their grievances naked with lesbian undertones.
Plus running off in tears naked, is so much cooler.

Thinking about it, an inn is a great setting that allows for frosty acquaintances to bath together and cast cold, penetrating stares upon each others naked bodies.

What he said.

So instead, I’d suggest you’d watch Baccano!

Wow scrubs, you are all wrong. The only answers are

Spoiler

Heartcatch Precure and Futari wa Pretty Cure

Just googled it… won’t be watching that :stuck_out_tongue:

Baccano looks good though!

I think you meant to say Bible Black.

Bible Black: The futa OVA for fighting game players

[details=Spoiler]Baka Test is the comedy series for fighting game players
C/D[/details]

Just watched the first ep of Samurai Champloo, pretty cool and exactly what I was looking for judging by the first ep!

yea champloo is pretty dope, I was thinking about it the other day. Gotta find a way to get it on my zune player.

I come to this thread seeking recommendations.

I need dark dramatic series with a lot of seriousness. The less comedy and more deaths, the better. I loved Claymore, for instance. Blassreiter too.

Casshern Sins is pretty dark. It’s not for everyone though.

Did you check the first few posts already?

I’ll check it out, thanks. What do you mean by “Not for everybody”? Overly violent?

Yeah, but Naruto is in the same category as Claymore, so I figured I’d ask for a recommendation with a few specifics…

Kill joys, the both of you! XP

Cashern Sins, Berserk, Bacanno! is nice and violent with plenty of bloody deaths. It’s got some comedy in it tho. The Vampire Hunter D movies are good an serious and quite violent to.

Overly depressing and dark. I stopped watching ti because it was too depressing and grim dark.

That sounds absolutely perfect.

want to try ergo proxy? Or are you looking more for straightforward gore?

The gore really isn’t the appealing factor for me, it’s moreso just the grim tone an anime has, the kind where it’s not afraid to let main characters die.

Depressing would be a good word for the type of thing I look for. I enjoyed Code Geass for the most part, for example.

It’s violent yeah, but the real issue is it’s just really dark and overly depressing. It’s silly how dark it is IMO

Yeah but you can still click the links to get a general synopsis and whatnot. Just saying to do a bit of research at least

Anyway try:

Black Lagoon
Shigurui
Kurozuka
Hellsing OVAs
Kara no Kyoukai

Those are generally pretty serious/dark/violent. If violent isn’t really a criteria then try:

Mononoke
Monster
Kaiji season 1 and 2
Akagi

In that case, watch Saikano. Pointlessly depressing for no reason.

I’ll try not to spend over $400 by the end of the year, I’ve already spent $248 wink

I’d also suggest Monster (best shit ever), Legend of the Galactic Heroes (also best shit ever), Now and Then Here and There, and Ga-Rei Zero.

Quick post, little time: saw Eva 1.11. Some dragging out of time but mostly solid. English dub solid. So far so good.

Moments where Shinji was a hero mirror same moments in original (aka, shitty) Eva, which makes the EoE OOC Shinji masturbation moment piss me off further.

If Shinji masturbates in this one no force on Earth will save Anno.

Anime still sucks in general.

That is all.

Also, Ouran High School Host Club is pretty charming.

Just when I think I’m out I get pulled back in.

Dr. B etc.
