Think I got to about ep 10 before I stopped. Sae just annoyed me like hell. On 17 now though, figured I might as well watch s1 and hop on s2.
I’m wondering what’s going to happen with Nisemono though… UTW are waiting for blurays, and it doesn’t seem like anyone else is doing it atm either. Hopefully a good group picks it up, or I might have to wait for blurays. Could be good as well, I guess.

I cant really say that I’m surprised this happened. I mean when anime gets licensed here, the publisher gets that small amount for the licensing fee and then they get some lame amount as a cut for every disc sold. The licensee has to sell as much as 5 to 9 times more discs per volume for them to match one Japanese disc sold. And that’s not including boxsets, which people here would rather buy anyway.
If they want to cut out the middleman for the off-chance that they can get more profits off the very few people outside of Japan that would be willing to buy anime for the Japanese price, go right ahead. Anime is doing well enough in Japan that I don’t think these licensors really need us at all. Though, I do think that Bandai is being stubborn and nearsighted not wanting to change their business model just because it works in Japan, I also think there isn’t that much risk in attempting this. It just fucks over everyone not in Japan.
One more thing to note: Bandai is huge. If they want to pull out of the North American market, It might encourage other licensors to pull out as well for similar reasons. In other words, this may the beginning of the end of localized anime.
