I give the opposite recommendation on account of BH containing 96% worthless, grating dialogue and the 2003 series being actually thoughtful and well-made.
LoL silly specs BH actually follows the manga whereas as FMA goes on some shitty tangent and complete turns to shit around midway through. There’s absolutely nothing thought out about the first FMA as soon as they decided to stop following the manga.
Finished 2.22. I LOVE this Shinji over the original. The way this one acts makes waaaaaaaaaaay more sense over the OOC-ness that was “OG” Shinji.
Though I suspect it’s going to be a weird Groundhog Day timeline thing, where the original series and the various comics were Shinji reliving events to try and “get things right.”
Mari’s kinda crazy.
Eva is still ho-hum but this sucks significantly less. I approve. Hate that J-pop-ness playing through the big scenes though.
I agree. It has less to do with how the plot went and more in execution. BH could have been strong with much more elegant, refined writing, and the 2003 series could have been week by doing what BH did. I’ve no issue with either “timeline” as it were.
Irrelevant, irrelevant and wrong, wrong, and irrelevant, in that order.
I did miss it and that’s fine I think I’m glad I missed it. Anyone that tries to justify FMA > FMA BH isn’t worth listening too.
@specs how is it irrelevant that the anime doesn’t follow the manga ? So we make an anime based on an manga artist’s work and decide to take it in a totally shitty direction? And plz don’t let me get started on that piece of shit movie they made.
Isn’t BH damn near panel for panel, line for line the same as the manga?
Well maybe not if you’re one of those idiots that likes to torture themselves with shitty rewritten dub dialoge and play crap games like Kingdom Hearts?
So what puts the original above BH? And should I take seriously the opinion of someone who talks shit about Chronotrigger?
The story following the Manga to the letter has little to do with weather or not the story is good in the first place. It going in a different direction from the Manga is, over all, irrelevant to the quality of the story of the Anime , weather it followed the Manga or not.
If the story for the first FMA was so great then what’s the need for the remake ? Yeah there are some poorly written manga’s out there FMA wasn’t one of them. That is of course if when you read/watch animes and manga you actually pay attention to what’s going on with the story and aren’t just looking for the next fight. But everything is subjective and everyone has their own opinions on things however, when an anime takes such a diversion from the manga it ends poorly as it did with the first FMA. Thus the need for the remake and this time them following the manga. Manga’s don’t run as long as FMA did without being good whether or not it suits your taste is a different matter though.
Lets talk about how the awesome Kyoukai Senjou no Horizonis getting another season of INCREDIBLE and COMPLEX story that is so good you will rub your dick off to it.
That all still has fuck all to do with the quality of the story of the first FMA Anime. The first FMA Anime has some bad story shit in it because it’s bad story shit, not because it’s different from what happend in the Manga. It’s just bad.
With that said, I cans see how taking a monthy Manga and turning it into a weekly show can fuck up the pacing, especially in the dialogue department making it hard for a screen writer to like repetitive conversations being crammed so close together. It’s also bad.
I thought Specs was dead on here about FMA BH’s problems.
Also, just because FMA 2003 deviated from the manga doesn’t mean it must be bad. The remake was probably made to have an anime that followed the entirety of the manga. When FMA 2003 was released, the manga wasn’t finished, so they had to change the ending.
If the story for the first FMA would of followed the manga closer it would of been fine. Instead it decided to spiral into a festering ball of shit. Most animes become bad when they deviate from the manga. It’s like reading X-men Comic watching X-men on TV and then watching the X-men movies. If you’re going to use an artist work don’t deviate from it because you simply take the story that the original artist made and turn it into shit.
