fuck anime just feels so restricted this year, outside of a few good ones, im trying to go through the older anime of past seasons this year that i overlooked…and i keep running into shit, was there really so little in good titles this year? wtf?
People shouldn’t complain about anime this year.
Because last year was fucking horrific in anime. At least with this year we got Madoka, Steins;Gate, and a few other good shows.
2011 was actually pretty good… for today’s standards anyway.
I’m not entirely dissatisfied that there aren’t a handful or exciting shows for winter 2012… just means I can finally get more other shows watched now

I dunno about you guys but i’m fairly stoked about the winter season. New natsume, new bakemonogatari, a couple of comedies and a soccer anime. There might even be some sleeper hits like penguindrum
Japanese people sure like to jack up their DVD/BD prices while doing their damndest to include as little content in them as possible… and actually buy them. :shake:
Anyway yeah, Madoka, and Steins get my votes as well, what else am I missing…?

I can’t say that Penguindrum was a sleeper hit. People were pretty hyped up for it because Ikuhara was getting off his ass to direct an anime for the first time in nearly a decade and a half. People were expecting a lot out of it because of that.
Dude I’ve watched Champloo years ago, this is my 3rd time watching it now.
…and yeah I did finish Bebop.
I personally didn’t like the episodes that were mostly ‘drama’ and anything to do with Spike’s past. Though if I had watched the series when it aired in the 2000s I may have been fine with them. To be fair there were some character’s past-centric episodes that I liked like the one with the Beta tape and the Feng Shui ep.
I personally wouldn’t mind a new 13 ep. season of CB that continues after this [spoiler=]Spike is healed from his wounds from his battle with Vicious, they pick up Ed and Ein and go on more Bounty hunter adventures. Oh and Spike loses the eye that only sees the past cuz the main people that were part of his past are all dead now[/spoiler]
2011 had some good stuff IMO:
Fate Zero, Madoka, HxH 2011, and one or two series I haven’t watched yet XP Oh and a new Hellsing Ultimate ep., that def. counts for something~
2012 will have the Berserk animated movie show in japan too.

C3 - Had some fairy nice action throughout the show so i’ll throw that one in.
Best Comedy:
Blood-C - The last three episodes are just too funny. Hale Nochi Guu, Dokuro-chan, Dai Mahou Touge, Director Tsutomu Mizushima still got the comic touch.
**Best Drama: **Fuck drama. Anime cant do drama. It either comes from angles or characters that never had that much focus to begin with or just lacks any real subtlety and tries to beat you over the head with shit that you can figure out on your own, or worse they hamfist all the conflict that every char had with every other char at the last minute (including destroying one of the character’s character by making him say that he actually had crazy ass issues the whole time even though there was nothing definitive shown that would make that true) so everyone can get together and cry IN UNISON as if it was by command, completely destroying all suspension of disbelief and transforming into a comedy. Fuck Ano Hana up the dick. No votes.

REDLINE was the only movie I watched this year and it will win because it is the only anyone watched this year. Not saying that it was good, cause it had things like a pointless flashback, an outside conflict that was resolved too easily, some loose ends that were never resolved and the ending didnt make sense. I didnt hate it though so I’ll put that in.
Worst Character:
Mahiru “Enemy” (Working!! season 2) - Someone already put in Shoe’s garbage ass so I’m gonna give him some competition.

Softtenni - Eva parodies, fighting a bear, and even a 24 parody. Its has some flaws like an unnecessary love focus that creates cheap drama and a lame ending that keeps it from being better than it could have been. Still a decent fanservice heavy comedy to marathon through on boring day.
C3 - Cured x Cubed - After the first episode, which was pretty cliche as hell, things get a lot more dark as pretty much every character is actually some crazy person or just working for some underground syndicate. Though the lighter parts of the show suck and the latter two arcs aren’t that good, it still has pretty nice action and a visual presentation that beats the hell out of most Shaft shows. Its an fanservice heavy action show that actually has action in it and that’s why it ended up being my favorite show of the Fall season.

I still havent watched Madoka past episode 4 and since I wasn’t feeling that show and that feeling makes me not want to bother finishing it. I stopped watching Steins;Gate after 4 episodes way back when it aired cause nothing was really happening and I got bored with it. I skipped Tiger and Bunny cause I had absolutely no interest in that show and Ano Hana is overrated trash.
