It’s also about what sells. Producing anime is a business, and studios will most often base their decisions on what they think will be profitable. Thus in the end, the actual target audience of anime are not those that watch them, it’s those that watch and buy them. And I am literally referring to Blu-ray and DVD sales. Other licensed merchandises like CD’s, figures and art books will have certain degree of impact too, but it’s the BD/DVD sales is what counts the most to the revenue margin.
So a person could literally watch every anime every season and know every little ins and outs about them, but that person doesn’t mean anything to the creators unless he/she is contributing financially.
This is why it’s really important that people actually spend money on series that they claim to like if they want their opinions as viewers to count. Unlike most American TV shows and movies, production of TV anime operate on extremely thin margins (it is said that average sales of 7,000 copies per volume in Japan is where a series is judged if it’s successful or not - and from my observation, way less than half the TV anime series each season meet that sales standard).
Did you watch more than the first episode? I didn’t like it at first either, but it changes dramatically in episode 2 and 3. Not saying it turns out super awesome, but you might want to check out the next episodes before dropping it.
Is there anything worth watching besides these shows I am watching now.
Miria Nikki
Persona
HunterxHunter
Everything else looks like some generic slice of life or harem shit. What are ya’ll watching that isn’t a bunch of cute girls doing cute things or what ever.
Fate/Zero is the fucking bomb. Guilty Crown looks promising but hard to tell from only 1 episode but it’s rocking dat Production I.G production budget and you can’t go wrong with that right? lol
I freaking love how batshit crazy insane some of these Mirai Nikki characters are. It’s almost like Higurashi except you don’t have to sit around waiting as they slowly descend into insanity. The show already knows what you want so it just saves you the trouble and starts them already crazy right off the bat lol.
Well except for the main dude who’s just a wuss at the moment, but I can see his downwards spiral into insanity already. Only reason why he’s still alive is because of that PsychoGirl assist. http://i55.tinypic.com/vys18i_th.jpg
Gonna go off and watch the third eps of Persona4 now. Show’s alright so far. I don’t think it’s living up to the hype-machine though but it might just be sleeping atm like with Steins;Gate.
Kind of wondering what direction this will take now. Didn’t really like that he went back to school to become “apathetic male protagonist #425” again. And of course the original transfer student…
Anyway, I hope it turns out good. I like the animation/presentation/production quality yadayada. Ep2 was all good until the end, which left a bad taste…
I was surprised he did that actually, I think the whole transfer student gig is overdone in these animes. Props to Gai for predicting everything like a boss.
What are the animes to watch this season? I was thinking Guilty Crown and Un-Go purely from reading up on them but i haven’t actually seen anything about them yet.
