Anime & Manga Thread v.4 FAQ/IRC: See OP. Thread over. Move onto v.5

I mean specifically anime movies, not series.

Oh…sorry, wasn’t reading it. Derp.

I thought the Rahxephon movie was pretty cool, all things considering. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time has won a buttload of awards and is a really good film, not just for anime, but for movies in general. Apart from that I’m not familiar with too many anime films as opposed to series. I’ve seen stuff like Gundam F91, the newer Appleseed movies, and a lot of the fighting game movies, but chances are as an SRK goer you’ve seen stuff like SFII Animated or the Fatal Fury films.

Both Vampire Hunter D Movies
Haruhi movie
Redline
Gunsmith Cats (Ok so it’s an OVA jammed together into a movie but I care not)
Cowboy Bebop movie (Probably seen this but I’ll recommend it anyway)

And that’s all I can think of off the top of my head right now…i just woke up.

Shit I need to rewatch the 90s VH D movie, I used to own it on DVD, but I think it’s gotten missing now =(
Oh well at least I still got my 90s JoJo DVD ^o^

you know the fact that the “old anime thread” exists + isnt dead yet suggests that ngas dont feel like they can talk about shit in this thread

just calling it like i see it

Doesn’t help with 99% of the time said nigs drop in goin “WHERE DA MANIME AT!?!?!?!”

Kinda makes no one in said thread want to treat them like right thinking adults.

It’s because people are stupid. Guess any time I want to talk about something and a thread about it already exists, I’ll just make a new thread instead.

reposting this for u anime scrubs

Crap, I should have mentioned the Vampire Hunter D movies. My sister lists the 1980s D movie as her all-time favorite film, period. While I don’t hold it quite that high, I have to admit it’s pretty good. Both of the D movies were pretty good!

These series of threads have been mostly relegated to a few people anyway, so I don’t think it’s a big issue.

Mawaru Penguindrum 8

Spoiler

False alarm, no Ringo assault after last week’s cliffhanger, because of Tabuki’s move to a new apartment. Though she tries it again by drugging him, but Shoma eventually is the cause of ruining her plans. To make things worse, Natsume nabs a part of the Penguindrum via motorcycle and is ripped into two. Shoma doesn’t get much luck either in the end, as he tries to push off Ringo from being killed by a random car, causing him to GGPO. I wonder if he’ll survive.

For movies I don’t know too many and only like about half of them enough to reccomend but here they are, don’t really bother ranking them.

King of Thorn (A well paced sci-fi/horror type thing)
The Kara No Kyoukai series of movies (Based on the books Nasu wrote before he went on to make Tskihime)
The Nanoha movie (compresses the first season of Nanoha nicely cutting out all the rubbish)
The Evangelion series of movies (so far anyway)

The Eden of the East movies were good but I wouldn’t reccomend them to anyone who hasn’t watched the series, since they just follow off it.

I’ve never seen the EotE movies, the show was full of win though and had a bomb ass soundtrack.

D.Gray-man not as confusing this issue, but…

D.Gray-man 207

[details=Spoiler]Daaaammmmnn so Apocryphos killed off Link? and they’re trying to pin Link’s death on Allen?

I figured Kanda wasn’t dead.[/details]

On Penguindrum:
Anyone else feeling the show is just getting more and more clusterfuck with each passing episode? lol

I’ll just name some stand-alone movies since i think that’s pretty much what you’re after.

hhahaha sf2v didnt help the ryu/ken gay rumors one bit.

It wouldn’t be an Ikuhara series if it isn’t.

Penguindrum is pretty much my first exposure to Ikuhara so i guess it’ll be interesting to say the least lol

One of the things I really like about Penguindrum is that it basically avoids exposition as much as possible. Outside of a few special cases, it leaves the viewer just as confused as the main characters are, making it a very relatable position.

Here, beesuit, let me provide you an example of Ikuhara.

lol I’ve heard and known about his nuttiness, just that this is the first time I’m actually seeing it in action. To be honest, I’ll probably find myself going through his earlier works once Penguindrum ends haha
