oh we doing bugs too? one of the most beautiful things I think in nature is when leopard slugs mate

in a crocodile’s mouth? nah. maybe if it death rolled

that’s might be just exagrating.

wow, I love nature but that was creepy and gross. Almost as creepy as those parasitic worms that burrow inside of crickets (or was it ants?) and after emerge horrifically.

Cat gets caught barking and resumes meowing

I think this might be the most incredible footage of animal behavior I have ever seen. Here’s the breakdown…

In order for the cat to even consciously imitate a dog it has to has modify it’s call which takes practice and some understanding as to what a dog barking means socially.

Not only that, the fact that it resumes meowing shows that is aware of humans expectations, meaning that it’s essentially changing its behavior to suit others. Now animals under Pavlovian control do that all the time, especially with the expectation of a reward (namely food) but this cat clearly didn’t do that out of reward it stopped because it realized that such behavior is something suspect and is a personal tool it wished to keep hidden.

Lastly, it seems much of the cat’s concentration is required to do this feat, meaning a lot of cognitive energy is being used to gain this skill by its own volition. Normally, a cat would be able to hear anyone coming into its vicinity with ease, so it was obviously well-preoccupied.

I think this is the first evidence of a self-aware feline.
