Anger at Fighting Games

Focus on being good first. I get angry at myself sometimes but that doesn’t do anything but make you feel like shit. Be a good player and stop worrying about the economics of it because that’s just going to make it harder. There are players a lot better than you who aren’t professional players, and if you’re really trying to make esports money, you’re probably better off learning dota or fps games.

It’s ok to be pissed and rage at the game sometimes. That shows that you CARE and are INVESTED in it. Show me a player that never gets pissed off and he either: A) Doesn’t give a damn about the game and has more of casual mindset, or B) has an endless supply of weed to remain chill 100.00% of the time. Since the latter is a fantasy few get to live, i’d going with the former.

So it’s alright. Give yourself permission to be pissed sometimes. But don’t EVER actually Rage quit matches. That’s lame. Everybody loses. Take that L like a man.

As for tournament matches, how long have you actually been playing with a competitive mindset? Not just SFV but fighters in general?

It’s okay to become frustrated. Some of my friends become incredibly let-down and angry at themselves when they can’t do something proper in a fighting game. I just think it is important to remember that it isn’t always about winning. Sometimes you have to approach the game as a learning experience, which can be rage-inducing within itself.

Luckily, you are still very young and have lots of time to have the experience of competitive/tournament play and understand the gravity behind what you are taking on. There will be better players. There will be worse players that beat you for whatever reason. It is really important that you approach every opportunity to play as a chance to learn and problem-solve what exactly you are doing wrong.

First time I went 0-2, I was very mad at myself. I wanted to just give up forever. But then it dawned on me that it is only ME that can change this. I can try to learn how to spot what type of player I am dealing with before getting scrubbed out. I can take some extra time to not practice the same combo in training mode and instead watch a match online/take notes. I can prepare myself better next time.

It is all about mindset.
