So I got my stick today and I must say that it will change your life. It’s things like these that turn boys into men. In the name of the Fighter. There are things I can do now that I couldn’t do or had trouble doing on my dual shock. Like reversals, negative edge, multi-tapping…and the list goes on. Guess that’s why I only really played when I was younger; when the arcade was the kick it spot.
Trying to step up my game, looking for some pros to help whip this average joe into shape. If your in the Sacramento area hit me up.
Questions - Can the negative edge method only be used in a combo? And also, whats the timing for the piano method when doing reversals.
As for your last question, if I were you, I’d look up the Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Tutorial that David Sirlin did for Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 for PS2. It should either be on his website (http://www.sirlin.net/) or on YouTube. Just go ahead and watch the whole thing because it’s very good at explaining some of the things you’re looking for. Plus, you’ll get a perspective on what order you should be trying to attempt this stuff.
oh busted up ps1 controller that i smashed on the tekken machine and has connection issues and also has a crack because i give you a good twist when I lose to scrubs online… I love you so much
Did Hori sticks drop in quality recently? I see alot of people complaining about them, but the ones I’ve owned have lasted for YEARS without any issues (EDIT: at least until I get violent with them: R.I.P. HFS3). I’ve owned / still own the Tekken 5 stick, Hori Dual Shock Fighting Stick (old PS2 stick), HRAP 3 (just got it two weeks ago), HFS3 and I think the arcade stick for the Dreamcast was a Hori as well. The Dreamcast stick was the first I ever owned and I LOVED it. Made Soul Calibur so much more enjoyable. My biggest complaint is with my Hori Dual Shock Fighting Stick, because the down/back diagonal (1 on the keypad) was hella vague. However the stick itself and all the buttons still work to this day and I’ve had it for years. I bought it when Tekken Tag was released for the PS2.
I remember Hori’s being considered some of the best sticks in the past, but I haven’t been following arcade stick tech recently. So what happened? Are they making them in Mexico now?
I just got my Real Arcade Pro 3 in the mail today too. I love it. I hope it lasts longer though. What happened when you guys broke yours? Were the buttons sticking or did something crack on the inside?
If I never got a Hrap3, I would say my T5 was the best stick ever. My execution was fine with it.
But without a doubt, a Hrap is better. Plus, if you break a stick/button, they are easily replacable. The Tourny Edition madcatz is just a fully modded Hrap. They should be the same quality.
Are they really easily replaceable? I’ve only had mine for a week or so and after I played my friend for a bit he told me I was a kinda harsh on the buttons. But I guess I have nothing to worry about if I can just replace parts, right?
Buttons are really easy to replace. It’s all a matter of pulling out the quick disconnects, popping out the old ones, putting in the new ones, and then plugging the quick disconnects back in.
The stick will take a bit of unscrewing because it’s held into place, but if you’re replacing the old joystick with a newer stick of the same type (Sanwa JLF) then you’re pretty much just putting the new joystick back into the same position the old one was in. There should be some FAQs with pics on how to do that in the Tech Talk section.
