introduction to topic
First I brought it up in a topic that lead to the conclusion, but some people might not have followed the original conversation.
Second this topic assumes there is a need to control an analog stick in a digital manner. (I know, as one example. Metal Slug Anthology requires Game Cube LS to move. The cross does not work. Any games on N64 or Wii Classic games on Wii or Wii U where a lack of analogueness would not hurt controls, yet the game doesn’t support the d-pad? Using digital sticks in a fully analog game sucks.)
I know the Brook Universal USB lets you actuate left stick, digital direction, or right stick by flipping a 3 way switch.
Do any of the 3 retro fight PCBs let you actuate the LS or RS either by holding down a button when powering up or by wiring a 3 way switch to any contacts, like the Brook USB?
Double Conversion errors
I heard double-translating causes too many errors, like going from native PS2 to Game Cube to N64 . Do fight PCBs generate a “native-equivalent” signal when coming from uncoded discrete inputs though the PCB?
If that’s right then a Wii LS can be controlled with a PS2 fight mode set on LS and then converted to Wii Classic. Similarly with Game Cube Fight mode to a Raphnet GC to N64 adapter.
add significant ping time?
One last issue, translation time. Is the translation from PS2 to Wii Classic and from GameCube to N64 less than 1 millisecond, (less than 1000 microseconds)? If so, the only thing it would throw off is a CRT-dependent Light Gun game, But the GC, N64, and Wii have none, so no big loss.
