God damn it, man!! I’m in here restlessly flipping between 17 channels because I broke my leg the last time that YOU said we should go outside and play tackle football in the street!
I recently got rid of cable since I barely ever watched t.v outside of wrestling, Bar rescue and few shows from the 90’s. Sucks I can’t find decent quality vids of New York Undercover or the Jamie Foxx Show online though.
This is kinda interesting. I know Italy has less channels (if we consider only major channels, both free and via cable we should be around… 40 to 50 i’d guess), but doing a quick conversion, it seems we watch more channels. Hell, even taking into account that most of the people does just tune in to watch soccer (i would like to call it Football, but considering that in the USA Football is used for “overly steroid-pumped Rugby” (no offense intended, it’s just how i see it as a Rugby follower, i prefer to stick to Soccer) of Formula 1 or Moto Grand Prix during the weekend, we’d still be watching an average of… 15-20 channels. It kinda surprises me.
Well, i’m kinda of a special case, i just tune in to watch Pawn Stars while having dinner. For the rest, i just watch TV Series via torrents, because during the day it’s an immense sh*tfest on every channel.
Interesting… I still watch quite a bit of tv but it’s probably not that much… here are the reasons to watch, imo:
Various CW shows – they bring a level of hotness that the other stations can hardly keep up with.
Cartoon Network – specifically for Toonami (*even though the shows can and have been seen by most fans already thanks to the countless sources out there on the internet.)
AMC – for Walking Dead.
Various cable news networks --not necessarily for what’s going on in the world, of course not-- for the ridiculously smokin hot ass broads these networks tend to put on as the on-air talent. Andrea Tantaros, Kim Guilfoyle, Dominica Davis back when she was on, Shannon Bream, or that blonde meteorologist from CNN, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, there was Soledad O’brien, the list goes on and on. It probably pales in comparison to the CW but these networks know what eye-candy is all about.
Ah yes-- there’s other stuff here and there…like I still love History Channel, and I WOULD still be watching Science channel if Comcast’s punk-ass didn’t move it up to the more expensive “digital tier 1” recently.
I’m honestly more surprised a lot of people still watch tv at all than anything, outside of live sports you can pretty much get absolutely everything else tv has to offer for cheaper and more conveniently through other sources.
I’m kinda surprised that someone went out and made this list like if watching TV is still a thing. I’ve yet to watch cable TV in literally over 5+ years, and everyone else around can relate to this as well.
This is a thing in Italy too. Unless there are special contracts with the producers of a TV Show that allow the subbed distribution the day after the USA airing (so that people could watch it on TV without waiting and or downloading it), nobody watches cable (excluding sport, that’s the only reason cable is still alive in Italy) anymore. Why wait… 3-4 months for a show rights to be bought and air from USA to Italy (dubbed, obviously) when i can already watch it after 12 hours thanks to streaming sites and torrents? Even considering that in Italy, television is a “serious business” and a lot of shows end up in absurd timeslots. I remember when Fringe started airing in Italy: 11 PM. Or when i saw Journeyman: 1 AM. And last year, they put FREAKING (i love it, but let’s face it, it pretty “gorey”) Hannibal at 9 PM. One may think it is a good timeslot for a TV Show, point is it got canned after 2 episodes because it was deemed to violent for that timeslot. Not even changed to a more suited timeslot like 10 PM or 11 PM, but directly down the drain. Game of Thrones (i don’t watch it) got semi-canned too, because it had to be aired with censorship.
I mean, why should people have to deal with this crap when i wake up on Saturday Morning and i can already watch the latest Hannibal episode?
Cable TV is a floundering service. I wouldn’t be surprised in ten years’ time if media doesn’t get put solely through streaming services rather than cable tv. From what I understand premium channels are already trying to find ways to expand their exposure level.
I’m always surprised when people have the attention span to watch anything these days. Even if it’s a show I really want to see, unless I do it on my phone–where I can’t change the window without interrupting playback–I will switch my attention from that to something else.
fuck regular tv in the ass. my brother pays like $80 for cable and the comedy central doesn’t even work. like it can’t download the shit or whatever. then you got ZILLION OF FUCKING ADS after all the $ he’s paying. was trying to watch a movie the other day and by the time it came back from commercial break I forgot what the fuck was going on.
Honestly, when TV is done, I’m done with all shows period. Like, today I spent an hour in front of Hulu looking for something to watch and there was absolutely nothing I wanted to watch.
The only way I get into shows is if they’re prehyped like Marvel/DC affair, or if I run into them randomly which won’t happen when Streaming is the only service.
Oh well, that just means I’ll use my laptop without background noise. Not like I can watch TV to fall asleep anymore either due to my bed’s location.
