Based on how today’s games play would it be a good idea to play with Happ parts as opposed Sanwa/Seimitsu parts?
I was wondering the same thing… I’d like to think that’s based on personal preference. Maybe I should update one of my older arcade sticks…
Well if you’re comfortable playing on american setups then there’s no problem at all, other than finding cases that fit the parts.
It’s personal preference. You can use a custom-made wooden arcade stick and buttons that you crafted yourself in your garage if you want, as long as you’re comfortable and able to execute to the best of your ability, and it doesn’t violate tourney-rules if you’re planning on playing it competitively.
This is probably more true today than it used to be. Overall, game input leniency and shortcuts has increased with modern fighting games, so you can be fairly sloppy with your inputs and still get what you want as long as your timing is on-point.
if you want a happ comp stick though buy the IL version. and if you buy the buttons make sure to get the IL ones (I belive if you buy today’s happ buttons they come with Eswitches, so you will need to swap out the switches with new cherrys) you can get the old cherrys if you look but the new ones are close enough. the only downside to the happ buttons are that most of them hav ethe long barrels, which mean long spring, which means it can get stuck easier. not a hard fix to remedy but would be annoying if i happened during game play (which it has for my brother)
I’ve also heard good things about MAS’s new optical line of bat top sticks.
I’ve heard they are good quality but some times you need to adjust the pcb height on them to increase the sensitivity so the diags hit better. also i heard they aren’t true circle motion like the old p360s. i think i remember hearing that they are almost circle with little notches, something like a hybrid octo/circle.
