American Government Thread 2: RIP John McCain, 81

So sadly this race WILL NOT be an upset despite “claims” its getting close to even over the last week. I have the entire PHX area mapped for my “job” and I have have that entire area literally labeled “TrumpLand”. Its old white people only with MAGA stickers and hats everywhere. Every other person is on a golf cart with every single business having dedicated golf parking. I rarely see any minorities so for a Democrat to win here who is a fucking minority in a district Trump won by over 20 points just isn’t realistic or going to happen.

“lost their way”… No Jim they have always been this way its just now at the forefront.

Were you expecting anything different? The only way Debbie Lesko was losing that seat was if she had a major scandal on the same level as Clinton and Lewinsky associated with her and even then she may have still won. Look at her competition. Dr. Hiral is a Muslim woman in a mostly white Republican state. Even the most optimistic of people can see that she has no shot.

Wait what? RE Hannity/Assange/Trump/Cohen, is that a thing or just conjecture? I feel like I missed something here…

I wish I was joking. As Obama said on Letterman, people watching Fox News Entertainment are in a whole fucking different reality bubble. You count those as mostly safe votes. So now you’ve got a base of about 35% of the population (confirm via poll data). You then need to splinter the opposition. Hannity gets to be the Voice of the administration, with Trump serving as the legislative arm of Fox News. That’s scary enough, but let’s make it more fun. The Russians have an interest in destroying the Democratic party because they’re actually interested in running a government as opposed to just fucking it up and/or dismantling it. (I’m lumping current Republicans and libertarians in the latter group.) So we have Russian hackers hacking the not particularly-technically-sophisticated Democrats. They then make Assange their pawn. (ref: the Russian leaks that disappear, Assange upon the Panama Papers, Assange upon the Republican data leaks, Assange’s communication with………. Hannity). Assange and Hannity help serve to buffer and prop up the Trump candidacy, making sure to leak stuff anytime there is anything that might actually catch up to Trump. This ties in with the Trump camp’s outreach to Russia. This ties in to Trump being Putin’s bitch. This ties in to not implementing sanctions. Trump has a lot of mean stuff to say about everybody except for Russia. He’ll blow up any relationship in the world for any reason, but not the Russians.

You might have a different take upon any of the above actions, but I believe the above has been covered pretty well in the MSM, let alone more unbiased political coverage. The spearfished conversation between Assange and who-he-thought-was-Hannity I think provides the missing link to most of the puzzles here.

There’s probably a subtext in there that Trump has always been kind of fucked financially, and that Russia appears to have been propping him up as a weapon against the Democrats. (ref: Trump Jr’s funding comments, ref: Trump’s ongoing Fox-esque Twitter tirade against Obama) I can’t imagine they thought they’d get this kind of ROI. I don’t think anybody would imagine that the right wing was this stupid.

On the plus side, I think the Republican Party is busy destroying its voting base. You have to be incredibly sheltered to think that current politics are normal. Putting on my Political Analyst hat, I think there are a lot of ways you might be able to undo that damage, but there’s a reason why for now the Democrats have been able to make some pretty substantial inroads against a Republican Party no longer interested in holding up the Constitution.

I forgot to post this yesterday…

Why are we talking about dead people and people no longer in office?

Just reminding people that the Federal Income Tax is illegal. That’s all.

People call us conspiracy theorists crazy for thinking the income tax was a plot by the traitorous Woodrow Wilson Administration back in 1913. So what better way to prove them wrong, with credible sources that support my position.

So Trump told Russia before Haley? And none of you Trumpers find this disturbing? Like I am seriously asking.

So how long till this thread is auto locked?

Apparently 8850 posts or so. 10,000 posts / 200 pages (by old SRK “50 post” reckoning) is a little quirky, but if it helps keep the server stable then that’s the way it is. There is not an override that I see in the admin toolset, otherwise I’d kick it back to 50 * 500, the old standard.

So how do we fund standard shit like…oh I don’t know, THE MILITARY?

You “income tax is illegal” folks are usually the first ones to jockride the army or bitch about bumpy roads while forgetting that thats where your taxes go. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

someone tell me how breast feeding is unnatural

Looks like a #fakenews article to me.

Well, there was this thing called gas tax that funded roads and bridges, without the need for income tax, but politicians turned it into shit.

Running a business empire is a lot like running a government. Donald Trump trained his whole life to be the best President and Leader. He learned all the rules, laws, and regulations of country so that he can fix it. When he says he can do it or knows about it he is not lying.

^ I really wish we had a LOL reaction button. I’m fucking dying

This isn’t r/The_Donald.

Too right, this circle jerk goes the opposite direction.

So? If you don’t like my post, ignore it and don’t respond to it.

The downward pressure on taxes tends to fuck a lot of things up. Buuuut why do we need gas taxes? Seems to tend towards regressive gas policy.

Income tax is awesome. Put some friction on upper class wealth accumulation and push that back into societal development.
