Again, D’Souza used straw donors to donate in excess of over $20,000, reimbursed them, then lied to federal authorities about it. Intent to deceive AND denial to the feds is wayyyy more serious than someone sloppily donating too much of their own money. Excess funds are usually handled by giving the money back or using it for the next campaign, and since Rosie always used her name and was upfront about it, that can happen. Dinesh openly tried to convolute where the funds came from and lied about it, which meant that he got his heavy fine and probation.
I know you just try to be a partisan hack, but could you at least try a little harder?

The FEC did a video about contribution limits and how they work.
In this case she may have designated for the funds to be rolled over to another election, which is perfectly legal. The article you referenced even states that. Is the call for jailtime based on the information in the article posted? If anything, someone on the campaign team would get the hit if she wasn’t properly notified.

To me that sounds no different than super PACS organizing things on behalf of some candidates. It’s an organization that throws money at folks who were probably going to do that anyway, it’s just that now the organization has a stake in it.

There are definitely ethical implications to doing so, but does that make it illegal? Besides I am sure both sides have done it. If you’re good at something, never do it for free.
